&lt;p&gt;I have this thing about testing stuff and I kept detailed records. Checked my blood sugar every thirty minutes for at least 3 hours or until the number went down to 100 or below after eating the food I was testing.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I don't eat anything that raises my blood sugar over 110.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Back to the GI. I also checked out the area under the curve. I.e. Low GI foods may take longer to be digested but they still produced a large raise in blood sugar and that higher lever was in the blood for a much longer time, allowing more time for damage to be done.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I'll stick to my method. - No grains, no sugar, no fruit and very few vegetables.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Does anyone know if this is dependent on what continent we're on, or on what? I know that some articles have been removed or made unavailable to us in the U.K. because of (threatened) legal action by sugar/sweetener giants in this country. &lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I notice if for instance I am doing the atkins induction to lose a few pounds, if I over dose on artificial sweetners, it slows it or stops the weight loss. &amp;nbsp;Once I ditch the artificial sweetners, then weight loss happens. &amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I try to use stevia or xylitol to sweeten. &amp;nbsp;Has anyone tried agave syrup? &amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;Hi, I was just wondering about the labeling here in Japan, when a label says &amp;quot;seasoning (amino acids etc)&amp;quot;, does that possibly mean that there is MSG in it? I discussed this with a health-minded colleague of mine and he said that as long as there is an additive added that is on the official additives list, it has to be mentioned on the label specifically, so then the term &amp;quot;seasoning (amino acids etc)&amp;quot; can only mean natural substance(s). What do you think of this? I'm wary of buying anything that has this term on the label, including hmmm, what was it that I saw the other day, a can of pineapples?&lt;/p&gt;
