It does not say WHAT it is made from (like corn, soy or vegetable oil) because from what I have read, it is produced in Canada in factories (I guess the formula is secret). Years ago, we didn't have this oil and I was told that it is now a major Canadian export.

But - you will have to Google the information and read through it and try to draw your own conclusions.

Just like here ... I have a son who gained over 100 lbs. and has type 2 diabetes. I have purchased many books and read lots on line and I hear doctors talk about diet and "buy my book". If they are doctors then they should care enough about human life to get the word out there. I have so many books on Thyroid, Fibro, Diabetes, diet etc. and the past year I have gotten headaches trying to figure out the contadictions.

Blacktoplady ... will you share what you cooked for your Mother and what you avoided?

Dr. Mercola ... will you, as a doctor ... give us a brief outline of what a diabetic should eat and what should be avoided without asking us to buy your book? I know that this is your livelyhood, but you made an oath as a doctor.

Waterexpert ... is grapeseed oil good to cook in? I see I have another page of responses to read. I hope this is posted. I don't want to lose my son. He is the only family I have left. So, I guess I'll keep buying books and I live on social security and pay my son's doctor bills. I am not asking for a miracle, just some direction.

This form of diabetes, which usually first appears in childhood, is NOT related to obesity, junk food, excess sugar, or any other lifestyle factor. There is no way to prevent or cure it. It is not their fault they have to take insulin. Insulin injections or an insulin pump is the only way to treat autoimmune Type 1 diabetes. Without that, a Type 1 diabetic will die. People always seem to get confused, but Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes are totally different diseases, they should never be mentioned together.

I agree that it is likely that most of these patients in the study were overweight and had heart disease. Type 2 diabetes results in insulin resistance and high insulin levels, which can increase cardiac output. An increase in blood pressure, a lack of Nitric Oxide, all of the risk factors for heart disease that most T2 diabetics have, and previous silent heart attacks, and you get a VERY high rate of heart attacks in those who are intensively treated.

What's so sad is that Type 2 diabetes is largely (but not always) preventable in the first place.

At my birth in 1946 my Mom's pediatrician told her, in writing, to add 1/2 Karo Syrup to my baby formula. Plus we had dessert with every meal. I've avoided diabetes somehow, but had other trouble, unstable metabolism, low energy periods, brain symptoms (anxiety, some depression, memory issues) - all that in addition to hyperactivity, and a long term eating disorder disguised as "marathon running" meaning, eat like a horse, then run it off. Problem with that is when you stop running, or get injured, you better change your diet. Only then, the eating disorder becomes apparent. And now at age 61 I have found a solution that really works for me. It is using Dr. Gabriel Cousen's approach outlined in his book Live Food Green Cuisine. Practically, for me that means - for breakfast every day - a large green drink, one quart or so, made with celery, mixed greens (about one quart stuffed and packed, that is a LOT of greens) , and either berries or not-sweet apples like Pink Lady using a Vita-Mix and blending the heck out of it (90 seconds, until the fiber is so pulverized I can utilize the protein in the greens. This give me all the protein I need). I blend with the green drink: one T each of Dulse, Lecithin, one clove garlic, and a small handful of cut fresh ginger. This tastes amazingly good. Wish I could find Pippin apples here in LA - they were so crisp, tasty and non-sweet. Back in the 1980's they were available. But, everybody now wants to eat only the grotesquely sweet Fujis and Delicious - the farmers tell me there is no market for Pippins anymore. Anybody know of a mail-order source for Pippins? I have heard, and found it is true, that if one can go 45 days or so with minimal sweet foods, the appetite readjusts to not wanting to eat sweets. The difficulty, during the 45 days, is confronting an addiction, and dealing with the candida die off. I am just today starting again such a program. Say a prayer, I'll need it

Secondly what really irks me is that all the diabetic clinics insist on eating a lot of carbohydrate foods. And then I have a fight with them. The last time this happened, the nurse insisted that I eat the equivalent carbs of 4 slices of bread for each breakfast. I was shocked, as I have eaten low carb for many years (I am a type 2 diabetic.) The clinics are "way off" with their advice on diet, and cause a lot of grief for diabetics.

She has so many problems now and her quality of life is so diminished, I wish she had been open to considering alternative approaches, but she just trusts her doctor and follows his instructions. I definitely won't be following her path.

If you want to heal your diabetes just gradually cut out all Saturated fat from your diet, forget the good bad saturated fat thing. Then eat raw vegetables in place of this meat. get a juicer and juice raw vegetables and some fruit. Eat potatoes and other starches preferably from an organic source as much as you want. get a distiller and Drink distilled water. To simple to work? Try it, no need to purchase Drugs, or Vitamins by the cart load.

Also learn to meditate, forgive any one that you are still holding a grievance against, it only hurts you to harbor anger. Thats it.

Sulfate in the solution is going into your body and then the solids are dissolving. Another way people get this Mg. into their bodies is by swimming in the ocean. The ocean salt is about 13 percent Magnesium so part of the effect of swimming in the ocean is to gain needed magnesium. Magnesium is needed for over 300 body functions and can be leached out of the body from diuretics, and lost due to exercise and the use of muscles such as the heart.

Insuline delivers nutients to the cells, transfatty acid molecules attach to the insuline and prevent the insuline and nutrients (like magnesium and vitamin C ) from entering the cells. If people avoid all transfats and hydrogenated foods like margarine, crisco and most vegetable oils they will see improvement in their health. Deep fried donuts and french fries are deadly. Almost all processed and packaged foods contain transfats, and that is why the disease has been increaseing so rapidly. Denmark has banned all transfats and Canada is thinking about it.

Canola Oil is not transfat free, and is not a healthy oil. I would rather eat something deep fried in lard than Canola Oil. Dr. Mercola promotes coconut oil, and he is right, it is the only good oil to fry in.
