Fastfoward a couple of years: we've always given our children popular over the counter vitamins thinking it was good for their health. Last week, after reading some information on the harmful effects of food dyes I picked up my children's multi-vitamins to examine the ingredient list. What I found shocked me to my core; not only were half a dozen food dyes listed, but ASPARTAME! Of course, I threw them away immediately. On my next shopping visit I reviewed the ingredient list of every children's multi-vitamin offered on the shelves and they ALL contained aspartame! I was devestated that I had been unknowingly serving my kids aspartame for half a decade! I cannot believe they are serving this product to children, and in a vitamin, no less! Can you say, "counter productive"? And some of these (like the generationally popular Flinstones) are labeled "pediatrician recommended". I urge all parents to write to these companies and take a stand against this blatant poisoning of our children.

When they died, on average after about two years, it was invariably from gross tumors. I think rats are susceptible to cancer.

As to the asparatame thing, thanks SO MUCH for bringing those to our attention and my PROFUSE thanks to the persons who conducted this research. It has finally given me the incentive to try to get off of these substances. Oddly, switching back to sugar based drinks is UNSATISFYING. I do not like the taste of sugar any better than I like the taste of water preferring the taste of aspartame which is interesting.

This newsletter is about human health and we are by design meat eaters. We have canines. We have forward mounted eyes like most mammal predators. If humans were not supposed to eat meat we could mangfactur our own B12, could we not?

I have watched the woman who funded PETA in many interviews. In my opinion, she is clearly mentally ill and the number of people who follow her is a clear indicator of the sorry state of the average person's mental state in the west.

Animals are not children. Perhaps if you filled your empty lives with helping an orphan CHILD or a homeless PERSON instead of trying to fill the void in your lives by anthropomorphizing a creature that you can control totally, you would not spend your time screaming at people trying to make human life better.

Again, my thanks to Victoria Inness-Brown for conducting this research.

While being highly unethical, this "experiment" by a "citizen" proves only the extreme arrogance and lack of compassion that sadly so many human animals possess. The results of this absurd "study" on rats cannot possibly be extrapolated to humans for a wide variety of reasons. Yes, Aspartame is most likely is a dangerous and carcinogenic substance for any living entity. Eat natural foods people and leave the animals alone.

My mother gets very ill if she consumes it - extreme dizziness, nausea, etc. For me, I just get monstrous headaches. My oldest sister has effects similar to my mother.

I have been convinced for a number of years now. The bad thing is, it seems that such drastic allergic reactions are not so common - or at least undocumented.

I'd love to be able to obtain a list of the meds that contain aspartame. It would help us know what to avoid.

Regarding Mrs. Inness-Brown's experiment, however, you didn't mention the control group results for the experiment. Rats are very tumor-prone, especially unspayed female rats that don't follow a careful diet. The percentage of rats that developed tumors in her experiment appears to be near the percentage you would expect to develop tumors in any group of unspayed female rats. It's actually a little lower than what I've seen in some studies.

People believe that our government would not allow all these diet sodas if they were really that bad for you. One guy tried to tell a pregnant woman not to drink diet sodas (and she follows a healthy diet) and she clearly thought he was a nut case. She works as a physical therapist. I am a nutritionist We both work in the "traditional medical community" and we are conditioned to think of alternative medicine as "scary" and "dangerous." Doctors are conditioned by drug companies, and even those who do things like refuse 'toys" and "dinners" (and you would be surprised at how many do), are being manipulated by the very data that is in the medical journals that they trust. The same with other professionals in health care. . People trust their doctors. They simply cannot believe that their doctors would give them vaccines if they are bad or give bad diet recommendations or drugs if they were harmful or whatever. Yes there are people out there that live on sausage and biscuits with budlight for breakfast, or a lunch of diet sodas and cigarettes, and honestly don't care. But many people who truly think they are doing the right thing for themselves and their children, sadly just have too much faith in the people who are supposed to be protecting them.
