After almost 12 years of doing Foster Care, our MRDD/autistic Foster boy was removed from our home under allegations of "unsafe home". What was deemed 'unsafe' was the fact our privately placed other Foster boys were not in PUBLIC school. I tried to indicate these boys were enrolled in a Christian Homeschool Program that is state accreditted. This wasn't good enough, so our Foster boy was remove from our home and placed, believe it or not, BACK with his biological mom! My greatest concern for him (other than the mom's home was deemed unsafe only 2 weeks prior) is that there was no gradual transitioning for placement. We know what an ordeal that is for the autistic! We have been ordered to have no contact with him. I am also concerned these Certifiers had VERY LITTLE knowledge of their 'client'. We were told (in writing) they "saw no evidence of individuality or choice making on <his> part" The boy WE KNOW (for 13 years, as we babysat him before being Foste parents), has his 'things' that would not be recognizable to anyone who doesn't know him! His toys, while meticulously stored in a basket, was by HI own doing-he took the ALL out and replaced them repeatedly. His clothing, although we would neatly hang them in his closet, he would follow by re-arranging the shirt/pants combinations on the hangers. Due to the lack of contact, we are only "hearing" he is doing badly now in school and will probably never qualify for a career-building placement we had hoped for. There is way too much regulation and supposed jurisdiction by state agencies that have little or no interest in children but rather their own personal advancement! Here's a pet-peeve: I can go to the market and buy "farm fresh, free-range, certified organic eggs" and feed them to the Foster kids, but have been told I CAN'T feed the fresh eggs from the free-range, organic chickens from our own farm! Where have we lost sight of common sense?!

Dear LadyPam -- you could be right about our little medico-nazi named "korot". Maybe he was "venting his spleen" after all, and you can tell, just by looking at his profile. He interestingly joined our conversation on the very day that this conversation started -- on the 13th of March. If he simply joined this message-board in order to cause trouble, then maybe he should quit this message-board and join a neo-nazi-hate-group message-board -- he'd be perfect for those sorts of ugly groups.

As whether "korot" was simply being stupid, or if he/she/it was being INTENTIONALLY obtuse, with an intentional obtuseness born of hatred, I don't know, and there's probably no way of telling.

Now to the substance of the issue of why I find "korot"'s post to be PATENTLY UGLY IN A SOCIALISTIC SORT OF WAY: if you do a web-search / google the subject of :

THE HISTORY OF PSYCHIATRISTS IN TWENTIETH-CENTURY GERMANY (read: 3rd Reich) -- then you will know that Adolf Hitler also strongly endorsed/advocated the lock-them-ALL-up-and-throw-away-the-key sort of approach to anyone who's been either diagnosed or otherwise labelled as mentally ill or otherwise inconvenient to "civilized" society.

In the cases of Misdiagnoses, the "lock-'em-ALL-up" policy will embitter lives horribly, possibly destroy them.

In the cases where the Diagnoses Were Some Ways Accurate, the "lock-'em-ALL-up" policy will thoroughly destroy the lives of extremely weak/vulnerable human beings.

Thus, there is No Right Way to engage in the "lock-'em-ALL-up" -- and this very policy, which "korot" wishes to advocate, has no place in civilized society.

"korot" is guilty of the very same verbal vomit as such garbage as Adolf Hitler.

Yet, don't take my word for it; look it up in some reputable historical sites. The University of Hamburg website even has some online papers about both (1) the History of the Jews, and (2) what the National Socialist Germans did to helpless children in institutions.

I have both good and bad experiences with Social Services in the UK. A parent complained to the school that her son had somehow lured my 8-year-old into the boys' toilets and kissed her. HIS parents complained?? Talk about pre-emtive! This coincided with a psychotic neighbour's report (she was proud of being psychotic and was always making false reports) that I was exposing my daughter to internet porn!

Social Services declared my place was a mess. True: my depression was in a bad phase and clearing up was not high on my agenda. But my daughter was clean, and it never got so bad that I would, e.g., use a dirty knife or prepare food on a dirty surface. They had to admit the bathroom/toilet were clean and tidy. They saw her bed had no sheets and didn't care that the bedding was in the washing machine or that I showed them the clean stuff I'd laid ready. They threatened to remove her!

Several social workers took her out for 'treats' (McDonalds - argghh!), covertly interviewing her. She said she sometimes had just a chocolate biscuit for dinner. She was always nagging me for desserts but I would only allow a cookie after dinner. They asked how often she had a bath; she said once a week. True; we took showers! However they tried, they couldn't get her to say anything that would lead them to believe the porn allegation.

I was forced to attend meetings where her headteacher said she turned up dirty to school and behaved badly (yes, borderline ADHD). When pressed, there was only 1 instance of a teacher noting she had an ink stain on her shirt once and he was forced to admit she had been sent to his office only once as well.

Actually, one teacher remarked that she usually turned up looking like a princess but went home more like a street urchin. I do see that they have to investigate an allegation of exposure to pornography, but the final report discharging the case said I had 'improved' and had not a word about them being wrong at any point.

When I read this, I felt some concern for my Nephew. My nephew of three has Autism, which we had known for a long time before his mother came to accept that fact. I have a touch of it myself, at least everyone else tells me that I do. The scary thing is that the School System might diagnose him with something else besides autism and put him on Ritalin. I never was on Ritalin. Thank heaven for that, since I actually had an Intracranial Communication Disorder.

Korot's remark concerns me. I don't want to see my nephew institutionalized, especially when I have found some effective means that can treat him w/o drugs. Korot's remark makes me feel that he has never been around an Autistic child.

I am convinced my son's autistic symptoms were caused by his agressive vaccine schedule. If he had true classic autism, he wouldn't have "got autism" after his shots, nor would he suddenly got better after dietary modification and adding essential fatty acid supplements along with some other herbs, vitamins and minerals. When he made some inappropriate comments at school, and his teachers suggested I take him to a psychiatrist, I did, so they wouldn't call CPS or anybody else in the system. Upon first meeting the shrink staff, they said they wanted to put him on meds before even meeting my child! I said, lets talk to him to see why he made the statements. I was met with incredulous looks and that "how dare you disagree with our science that drugs are much better than talk therapy?". Fortunately, I won that little battle, and when my son was finally seen by the shrink who asked why he made certain statements, it became clear he had done it to divert a reprimand he was getting for teasing another student. Clever little trick he'd learned in ABA sessions as far back as age 3! Turns out this kid is way smarter than anybody knows. He promised the doctor he wouldn't do it again. 3 years later, he's true to his word and still psychotrophic, mind altering-drug free. Shhhhhh,, don't tell CPS though, they might just think that was an unfit thing for me to do.

I swear to God, if I was a parent who had been treated like those parents in Dr. Mercola's article, I would kidnap my child and move out of state.....even if it meant I had to keep moving! Then if that became futile, then I'd move out of the country. I would NOT allow my child to be taken from me, especially when I knew I was doing what was best for my child and the state was slowly killing him.

I didn't even read all of the comments to realize how outraged I am at the government and CPS! I want to yell from the house tops and let everybody know that unless we as concerned parents/grandparents really get outraged enough to make this kind of thing PUBLIC, then not much is going to happen to change it. I honestly believe that the vast majority of people are unaware that such things are actually happening in America! It's a horrible nightmare and it truly scares me!

I sense that only parents who have received the Gestapo-like treatment are forming groups etc. But it has to go beyond that, the word has to reach everybody!

Every time I get one of Dr. Mercola's articles that I know is controversial, I make a point of sending it to all my friends and family. They probably don't like it (because they are not signed up as subscribers), but I don't care, I send them anyway. I am determined that everyone I talk to hears about the stuff that's going on pertaining to our loss of freedoms. So my advice to all readers here, please take a few minutes and forward the articles on that you feel would get peoples' attention. We've got to spread the word, besides talking about it between ourselves.

My 3 1/2 yr old son is autistic. We saw a significant improvment in him when we changed his diet and put him on supplements. It's amazing how doing something inexpensive and easy like that would make such a difference. Unlike meds, there's no need to worry about side effects either.

It has been my experience that if the parents are even willing to look outside the allopathic box, they don't go very far beyond Greenspan, Lovaas, or the DAN! treatments. Parents of children with autism need to stay below the radar - Wisconsin picked up dozens of freshly degreed young social services majors when Jim Doyle won the governorship. They took the place of TWO women that used to do the same case load, so they need to secure their jobs. They may be well intentioned, but they will not stand up for you. Treatments that are outside of the allopathic system need to be kept to yourself. When teachers ask if your child is being seen by a doctor, tell them "yes". Protect your families! My heart goes out to this family.

Thank you Dr Mercola for doing this article and labeling it as such.. This is happening all over the country they are drugging our children fro profit ..We need more Drs like you to speak out about this .. This also happened to my daughter .. Anyone needing an eval should be getting one from a Dr that still has thier science intact ! these meds are dangerous . what people don't know is CPS is doing this to families all over the country getting parents for medical neglect if they don't want thier children medicated .

What a timely article....

I just returned from a group dinner at a restaraunt. My wife was seated next to an autistic guy who I later learned was 39 years old. Part way through dinner he threw his (soft) drink glass, slit his wrist with a dinner knife, bit his thumb to bleeding, smeared blood all over, made me fear for the safety of my wife, and threatened me with both bodily harm and legal process. I was seated across the table, and could not place myself between him and her. After all this his "keeper" returned to the table and helped him leave the restaurant.

As far as I'm concerned, they can lock them all up and throw away the key. The parent's should be thankful they don't have to take them into civilized society, and get one with their lives.

Government dictates/mandates parental responsibility in areas of health like vaccines and toxic HIV or psych medicines, and you are labelled an unfit parent for not kow-towing to the allopathic murder-medicine model and embracing their poisons. It’s okay to ‘feed’ your children with 35 teaspoons of GM HFCS daily, trans fat-laden junk food, never introduce them to a fresh fruit or vegetable, never have a real conversation, and leave them in a hypnotic fugue in front of the goggle box for half their waking hours but God help you when you disagree with a doctor. Why is the onus on hapless parents to prove the mandated vaccines and toxic medicines are dangerous when the onus should be on the establishment to prove their profit-raddled potions have any benefit? Real religion is optional, but medical religion is stuffed down your children’s throats whether you want it or not.
