I believe probiotics, magnesium and vitamin D will solve most of these problems. Probiotics clean out and restore the inner environment, magnesium will restore the ability of your intestines to work mechanically, and vitamin D resolves the biochemical level. the trick now is to get Doctors to use the new procedures. Our medical care seems more interested in treatment, than prevention.

Hi, Knowning something was wrong with me, in March, 1992, I went to my family doctor and when he got to the part "checking my stool for blood", he called and got me an appointment for a colonoscopy. The doctor in the hospital found pollops and knew they were cancerous. Since my colon was cleaned out, he had me to stay in the hospital and had surgery the next day. I stayed 10 days, never had any pain from it, needed no chemo or anything. From what I read, I had 5 years to live, but this year was 16 years ago! I've had regular checkups and this year the doctor said I didn't need to come back for 5 years. I just hope that everyone will get checked before it is too late. (I forgot to mention that a section of my colon was removed and it was put back together). A colonoscopy doesn't hurt at all - it may save your life. It saved mine! Thank you, God. I was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer at 27, had surgery, and refused chemotherapy.

Radically changed my lifestyle to raw fruits and vegetables, and have done every alternative therapy under the sun.

It's been 4.5 years and no sign of cancer!

Dr. Mercola talks about C-reative protein levels? Not sure the relationship. I've learned about and tested my Isoprostanes and how that is now the gold standard for oxidant stress testing. (oxidant stress levels having high correlations with chronic diseases such as cancer, heart disease, etc.) How do you go about testing for C-reactive protein levels? My mother died of colon cancer at 58 (misdiagnosed and therefore mistreated with the wrong chemo), so, I am always looking for ways to spread the word on this deadly disease.

I respect Dr. Mercola and read him faithfully. My husband and I eat right, supplement and believe in colon cleansing. However, I disagree with getting a colonoscopy. It requires someone to put a foreign object in my body and it would also seem to require that it be done at the hospital. Two strikes! Our oldest son was a medic in the army and when he came out, he worked in a blood bank for awhile. He was appalled at the lack of sterile equipment that was used and the thought that a cute little camera that may or may not have been sterilized properly after it was used on someone else definitely bothers me. Just recently watched an uncle die from MRSA and an aunt who went through the treatment to get rid of it. Hospitals are not on my good list right now.

With the garbage consumed and myths still in effect (margrine being
better than butter anyone?) people didn't die of colon
cancer in the past with real food and without super dooper screening, we have the
technology but lost the common sense to eat real food along the way O_o

I don't think I want someone slicing up my colon. My colon is there for a reason and I don't think we should be putting holes in it. Prevention as always is the key here, not early detection. There are lots of articles on bowell health and the benefits of fiber, herbs, healthy diet, whole food supplements, and so on, and I agree with the theories. I do have a question however on whether or not washing of the colon is truly healthy. People have touted the benefits of colon hydrotherapy, but does anyone know if it is truly beneficial? I believe that our bodies were made to stay healthy and heal themselves as long as we feed them the right fuel, give them the right amount of exercise, and so on, but colon hydrotherapy just doesn't really fit with how we were made. Were we really made to put a foreign object in there and spray down the debris from the walls? Isn't that debris necessary for something? Sorry for going off on a colon tangent. This is an area of prevention that I have not researched well.
