I have learned the hard way by illness that you must be careful of products you put on your skin, the foods you eat etc.

I live in New Orleans and South Beach.

I do not use sun screen, but I go to the beach every day for 30 minutes to 1 hour unless I am swimming or body surfing if the waves get are right.

I have never felt better in my entire life then when absorbing the sun!. I know what Dr. Mercola is saying and I so totally agree, by the way I feel when in the sun. I have never burned except in my youth 1 time and my forehead the last time I was on the beach.. will not do that again..

There is so much that needs to be brought out.

Modern medicine is (except for pain and immune problems) is a way to die earlier.

What bothers me, is that when one get cancer, the medical profession insist on chemo, killing everything, and if you are lucky and it kills the cancer and not you, you are a mirical that survived the odds.

I know a doctor that refused chemo. He had colon cancer and he chose radiation and vitamin C iv's and of course diet with no sugar... (sugar feeds cancer) He survived and did not have to have the 'bag'.

Also there are ozonation of the blood done in Mexico (illegal here), that will also help with cancer along with diet and vitamin c IV's.. Amazing things are done in medicine in other parts of the world.. Chelation for clogged arteries, I am so amazed. I ended up doing EDTA IV chelation to remove heavy metals and talked with alot of people who did it to keep from having open heart surgery. It worked and no open heart surgery.. Diet plays a huge part.. hydrogenation.. bad.. bad.. bad.. that is one of the things that causes cloged arteries... not eggs, not butter.. stupid us.. we listened.. and we died..

Why did the Dr order D2? Because he "knows" best? Nah...Dr's only deal with prescription stuff and rarely bother to learn about any alternatives that are non-Big-Pharma. Once again, this ex-nurse knew better than the doctor she pays out the ass for.

I'll be sure to point that out on my follow up visit, along with a copy of the most recent article in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism that talks in detail about the superiority of D3 over D2.

PS. I ran to check my bottle of Whole Foods vitamins from Dr. Mercola to see which kind of D he included in them, and he has D3. Good boy!

The number one antiaging cream is daily sunscreen, at least on the face, neck & upper chest. I vote for supplements, as this is a quick fix for a lot of deficiency problems. At least with supplements, there is a lot less guess work as to what you are actually getting. With vitamin D, there is reliable testing as to whether the supplementation is working. Along with cod liver oil, I am also taking a 2,000 capsule of vitamin D; it feels almost like a mood elevator. This, along with magnesium supplementation, are miracle cures if there ever were such.

Good to see this topic rising to the top of the pile even in the regular media. For those of you living at high latitudes you might find the following shareware useful:

sunrisesunset.com/sun.html

Not only does it give you (if you programme it properly) your sunrise and sunset but it gives you the timing of the sun's apogee (the point when it is highest in the sky) for your location on that day of the year. If like me you work from home you can programme your sunbathing (if there is any sun) to the most efficient point in the day. Mistakenly it's shown as 'time when the sun will be directly overhead' - 12.10 pm for me today ... but it's cloudy :-(

Even in mid-winter, with the air temperature at 3°C (38°F) I find I can take a bare-chest sunbathe of 40 mins (20 minutes either side of the apogee) on a sheltered balcony as long as it isn't too breezy. I'm at 45°N.
