Batteries aren't a perfect technology, but they make a lot more sense then hydrogen. I just finished reading a book comparing hydrogen and electric vehicles, and it's definitely worth reading for anyone who wants more insight into the topic- The book is called "Two Cents Per Mile" by Nevres Cefo ( http://www.twocentspermile.com )

However it is a misnomer to refer to it as an energy source because it is almost nonexistent in its elemental state in nature and requires energy to be produced. Whether by electrolysis or other means, it requires more energy to produce than you get in the H2. If a clean and renewable source is used such as solar or wind, that is wonderful, but if you powering the electrolysis with a coal burning power plant, all you are doing is moving the emissions to another area.

The future of energy should be in renewable sources with the least environmental impact. The innovation of more efficient and cheaper solar cells and improved helical wind turbines show much promise, but they will likely be ignored in favor of doomed policies like methanol and offshore drilling, which have powerful lobbies in DC.

The solar and helical wind turbines will also improve the efficiency of smaller scale and more localized production of energy which will reduce the load on our aging 'grid', another flawed concept. Transmission of electricity of long distances leaves us vulnerable and has dire environmental consequences. While eliminating it completely is not likely to happen, we could actually reduce the need for such infrastructure while our energy needs increase by producing more energy locally.

Basically using a large array of flat mirrors to focus solar energy on a water tank (bolier) to create steam which drives turbines generating electricity. Pilot plant is already near completely constructed in Israel.

It is technologically feasible, and is the way to go. Of course, this would not be much use in the northern states in winter time.

I was wondering if using the the same idea — using a number of flat mirrors to multiply the solar irradiance on a single spot, would increase the output of a Photo Voltaic solar cell? Does anyone have any idea of how much one could increase PV solar cell output? Or is a PV solar cell already sturated at ordinary levels of solar irradiance?

Mirrors are relatively cheap comapred to PV cells. And if four mirrors (for example) could reflect 4 x as much sun onto a PV cell, and increase its output 4 x . . . .

This is continually ignored and is vitally important.

The other problem is that Nuclear Power isn't clean power. The radioactive waste has to be stored for centuries. Right now they use barrels stored in underground tunnels. We’re supposed to be foolish enough to believe that they're safe from leaking into our ground water in the event of an earthquake. Some of these tunnels are in basalt (volcanic rock) in volcanically active regions, Washington State for instance. Of course, this assumes that the barrels aren't damaged during transportation on our public highways, etc.

Solar and wind power are really the only relatively clean alternatives.

Al Gore advocate this interpretation as the reason for the increasing temperature.

Recently I read in a Swedish chemical newspaper See Kemivärlden www.chemicalnet.se/iuware.aspx?pageid=792&ssoid=72711 for the diagram)

that the amount we have today (about 380 ppm) was exceeded around year 1800 and around 1940 when levels exceeded 400 ppm. The article also mentions that the method calculating CO2-amount from ice cores is a very dubious process as chemical changes take place during storage. Also the ice core statistics has to be adjusted with 80 years to fit modern data. Hmm…

Seems the CO2-debate is an artificial one, or? A critical mind is not misplaced here.

What else can cause the climate change? (if there is one and not only normal variations).

Water vapour is the most abundant green house gas casing 65-85% of the green house effect (Somebody on this blogg says 95%). If the amount of water in the atmosphere increased you should see an increase in the green house effect. Is there a simple mechanism that could explain an increased amount of water vapour in the atmosphere?

I think so.

A mobile phone technician explained to me that mobile phones worked less efficiently during rain as the water attenuated the signal with10 dB. (This means that 90% of the radiation was absorbed by the rain.) This made me start thinking.

When microwaves are absorbed by water it gets warm. When the water gets warm it also heats the air and this means the air can hold more water.

Do all the base stations (plus WiFi, DECT, radar stations and HAARP-project…) and mobile phones (soon 4 billions) indeed heat the atmosphere so it can hold more water and thus increase the green house effect? (I know compared to the sun radiation about 1 kW/m2 the extra input from microwaves is not much, perhaps around 10 W/m2 around th

I believe that carbon is a flawed concept.

Read Kunsters the Long emergency.

"Kunstler does not consider hydrogen to be a true energy source since you cannot drill into the earth and obtain hydrogen. Hydrogen must be extracted from other energy sources, such as natural gas or using electricity at a total net loss of energy."

As for the oil peak, have we not already past that point?

Perhaps we have already past the point of no return to save the planet and now must accept the consequences.

I believe so.
