The opportunity for people in a small town in the midwest to pose a question directly to the president of the United States is a rare one, possibly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. "And now I'd like to answer some questions, if you have any", said Bush. But his request was returned with silence. Bush filled the air with an awkward joke: "After seven-and-a-half years, if I can't figure out how to dodge them, I shouldn't..." The audience tittered nervously. Bush continued, "If you don't have any questions, I can tell you a lot of interesting stories." The crowd laughed again, but no one raised a hand. "Okay", said Bush, "I'll tell you a story."

That just about sums things up - I think you can draw your own conclusions as to how savvy (or not) a lot of Americans are. (NOT ALL, of course)

A lot of what is said is probably true as far as news goes - It happens here, but not to the same extent. For instance we do not have adverts on the BBC to influence the news content.

It may seem the right thing to stop reading papers and watching TV, However, our view of those in America is that far too many people (NOT all, I hasten to add) do not even know where other countries are, let alone what is happening in them. They are extremely insular and from their attitudes one would think that the USA was the only country in the world. This is one reason why the White House can feed all sorts of untruths and half truths to the populace in pursuit of its own agenda because so many people do not have the background information to question what they are being told.

It is important to know what is going on globally and there ARE ways to find out wihout swallowing all the propoganda. For instance, there is a wealth of informed discussion on www.opendemocracy.net and there are many other independent sources which will provide a global view. Seek them out.

(It does not matter a hoot whether the moon landings were real - there are far more crticically important issues - many of them concerned with the very survival of the human race)

When I do pick one up, I see why I don't bother. They are poorly written and filled with nonsense and ads to get me to buy things I don't need. People are surprised when they find out I don't read the newspaper or listen to the news and asks how I know what is going on in the world. I tell them, if it is important, I'll know. I used to stack up the paper to read when I had time and the stack got out of control. That's when I stopped taking it.

Keeping up with the news is like an addiction. It's hard to break, but when you do, you have more time to do other things and more peace of mind. My husband and I only watch the news if there is an emergency, like a hurricane, and then only for a few minutes.

Now take off your tin foil hat and submit to the orbiting transmitters from the PTB! :)

This is a very important article as it is about how we process info, don't think, or think in a very limited way, and how others manipulate what is left of us.

This is part of the big picture that deserves our attention.
