I used to eat pork. I loved bacon. I haven't eaten it since 1976. That was when I learned that it was unclean meat. People will not eat dogs, vultures, skunks, etc. but they will eat a pig that is as unclean as these animals are. If you don't believe it is bad for you just because the Bible says it is, look up diseases of swine. There is a long list of them. Pigs will eat any thing that is given them. They are scavengers. Cat fish, shellfish, shrimp and lots of other fish are not clean to eat either.

mrose- Thanks for your response. I drink Kefir daily made from raw milk and started on it because of reflux. I have not experienced any reflux since starting on Kefir.

I have been a vegetarian for many years (over 22 now, ). I have been ill a couple of times, had the flu 4 times in my life, mostly as a kid when I had to eat meat, but once as an adult. I made the decision to be a Veg Head because I found out where veal came from, then pork chops (HATED them anyway) then hamburger. My mom was FURIOUS! She was Christian but that isnt why she got mad, it was because "everyone else eats it, now I have a weird child" syndrome.

Well, mom has dementia, osteo-everything, diseased liver, (she doesnt drink)she has had 4 breast cancer lumps, diseases of the skin and a whopping widespread unknown viral infection that landed her in ICU for 22 (TWENTY TWO) days at a cost of almost 700,000 dollars. She and I broke off communications a few years back when she was still lucid and she tried to harm my hubby, also a "weirdo" carnivore turned veg head. She claimed to love animals and I guess she did when she ate raw hamburger at picnics and slurped up veal at such a rate it was scary, ate undercooked pork chops and raw chicken livers. Give her a still kicking steak with lots of red juice on her plate and she would have given you ...anything.

At the age I am now, she had massive dental work done, ate a lot of meat, had her gall bladder removed, had problems with her feet, weighed almost 300 pounds and colored her hair. She also had three children that she was less than proud of. She broke off communications with her own parents and made dresses for herself that matched the livingroom curtains. (and yeah, she had my dad with her.)

Up until the last day I spoke with her, she was eating raw hamburger with a fork out of the fridge and ingesting a massive amount of HFCS, and MSG from all the "doctor approved" diet foods she ate. She weighed 386 pounds at the age of 60. (dad had been dead 10 years at this time.)

I think being a veg is right for ME, but not for all. I dont push my beliefs on people. (hard to believe, I know.)

What I find most interesting about MRSA, are the treatments and cures that have already been developed; treatments which do not rely on antibiotics, drugs, or 'designer-viruses.' Allicin, the active component in garlic has been proven effective in stopping MRSA. BBC News features an article from 2003:

The company which furnished the allicin-containing liquid was Allimax Neutraceuticals. I won't link to them directly as I am unsure of the terms of service for Mercola.com. However, a search on Google should locate Allimax immediately.

I have not personally tried any of the products produced by Allimax, nor have I ever contracted a MRSA-infection. But, I would consider the use of allicin to be a front-line defense should the need ever arise.

Perhaps an effective allicin-containing supplement would be a good future product offering from Dr. Mercola.

Every thing we eat(should eat) has energy/life force(if you want to call it "God," go ahead), from vegetables to animals and animal products.....If we mistreat/disrespect the animal/plant....this causes stress..we know what stress does to human organisms...what must it do to the animals???

While animals don't worry about paying-bills-stress, overcrowding, non-natural environment, poor food/nourishment, "unhappy" conditions in general...create stress...

Then we eat this energy???? It has to affect us....science is beginning to prove this fact.....negative energy is negative energy....

we are all connected...this creation....we must respect ALL LIFE/ALL ENERGY........

I was recently bitten twice on the leg by a brown recluse spider, i have two ugly red concave sores that are slow to heal. I am on two types of antibiotics for another three days. I wonder if any Dr Mercola readers have alternative solutions to this problem and what I should do to recover from antibiotics. Greenmtman

I really would like to hear from the rest of you on this one... but considering all the animal cruelty and horrifying conditions these poor helpless creatures are kept in and the fact this is causing pollution of the enviorment and also the pollution of our children and people who just don't know any better... what really is wrong with being vegetarian.... God did not intend animals to be consumed in this way..... He gave us animals to eat but not in this manner... It's turned wrong and evil....... Go vegetarian and save the planet and your body!!!!

Vegetables of unusual colors are far more likely to be heirloom varieties than GMO. Heirloom vegetable seed catalogs usually offer such things as yellow carrots, purple tomatoes, red cabbage, purple beans (turn green when they hit boiling water), etc. These were bred in the usual, long before GMO as we know it existed. I got purple carrots today in my organic CSA vegetable package.
