The bar soaps for laundry use, I make with Lard. I then mix 6 oz of lard soap with Borax and Arm & Hammer Washing Soda to make our laundry detergent. I have turned all of my daughters and daughters in law on to this and at least a dozen of my friends. It's so easy and the comparison in price is 10 to 1. I can make 1 or 2 gallons of laundry detergent (soap) for $1.00 compared to the $10 or $15 I used to spend and my clothes come out cleaner and softer without any residue. Our bath soaps I can make any way I want, with anything. I recently made a soap and lotion with different oils and MSM specifically for my husband's Roceacea and his best friend's Psoriasis. I also just made a soap with raw cream. It turned yellow when heated up by the lye and looked like lemon pudding after it had thickened, so I added lemon essential oil to it and it turned out to be one of my nicest soaps ever. Recently, I had my three grandsons (they are 3, 5 & 7) over for a couple of days and I had them go through my soap scraps. They each 1/2 filled a quart canning jar with different scraps and then added water, put them in the microwave to warm and soften everything and then used a stick blender to mix it all up into liquid soap. They personalized each one by adding color. The boys have a soap dispenser in their bathroom, here, and so my husband fiiled each of the three compartments with their individual soap. I have made lotions with different oils that turn out very nice. For myself, I use a mixture of glycerine and water for my face and another mix of those two ingredients with a tiny smidgeon of grapeseed oil, as a body lotion. It feels like putting water on my skin, but the effect is wonderfully emolient. You can imagine the price difference between a 4 oz bottle of commercial lotion compared to 3 oz of water and 1/2 oz glycerin. And, it's better for you.

I have some allergie problems with commercial soaps. I had to wear gloves to do dishes. Fortunately I don't have problems with latex.

I switched to Ivory dish soap, and Ivory bar soap.

No more problems.

I use White Rain shampoo, as I found it to have the smallest number of ingredients listed.

As to the Sodium Laurel etc....It is made from coconut oil.....what do they do to it that makes it allegedly bad?

Not only do they do your laundry well, but they work really well as an all-purpose household cleaner, and you can use them as a shampoo/hair rinse too. They're the pods of the Asian Soap Nut tree, and contain saponin (natural soap). Organic and fair-trade and about as natural as you're going to get!!

For my part, network marketing is the fairest and most ethical form of business. It keeps the community in mind, and everyone gets to share in the profits. Where as in manufacture to retailer, only two people get to make all the money.I have been an independent representative with the One Group Enterprise, manufacturers of Miessence, for over two years, and find that not only is it a way for me to buy certified organic skin care and cosmetics at discounts of 30%, but it is also the most ethical company i have ever had the pleasure of knowing and working with. I am proud to be part of an organisation that is commited to serving the community by supporting ethical farming and business practices, education and supporting our planet.

Tea tree oil shampoo, m'dear. Try making your own with four or five drops of pure tea tree oil per 1 tablespoon mild fragrance-free shampoo[such as the oft mentioned Dr. Bronner's Unscented Baby-Mild]. Use only a couple teaspoons of this mixture at a time and dilute with enough water to make a light foam--Dr. Bronner's can be quite caustic straight up! Be sure to leave in for a few minutes after lathering. Rinse thoroughly. You may also add a few teaspoons of a decoction of comfrey or nettles, steeped in twice as much hot water as herb for a few hours, with the solids then strained off and discarded, to the shampoo mix for further soothing and fungal-fighting affects. Good luck.

We use Dr. Bronners soap for everything. You can even use it to brush your teeth with, although I make my own tooth cleanser, since I do not tolerate flouride (which is in everything, I know). My husband uses it to shave with...We love Bronners, it is affordable and you must dilute it first, and it is all natural. I also use Apricot Kernel oil, or olive oil, or coconut oil as a face moisturizer. If your skin is so dry nothing natural helps, then you may need to increase water consumption. I used to have VERY dry skin, and this helped a lot.
