&lt;p&gt;In any case, go grab a copy of Terragen and produce some of your own 'photos'. &amp;nbsp;You will be amazed at how good they can look. &amp;nbsp;Some of the snowy mountain scenes I created would be hard to prove as fakes. &amp;nbsp;So go grab you a copy and have fun. &amp;nbsp;There is even a photo gallery of submissions that will really knock your socks off. &amp;nbsp;I think they even run (or they did in the past) competitions to see who can create the best Terragen image without any outside software aid. &amp;nbsp;Good stuff. &amp;nbsp;I would rate this image as a solid C+ when compared to the others I have seen.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;btw: besides the given explanation, the other reason that this could not be the north pole is that, as of yet, there is no open water.&lt;/p&gt;
