I am a dental hygienest who sees tooth decay every day. How I explain this to the children I see everyday is we all have bacteria in our mouth. They live off the food we feed them when we eat sugar(which is in almost everything!) they digested and pee on our teeth. Just like us their pee is acid and it burns holes into our teeth. So it goes back to what are you feeding your bacteria or DIET. So when you are complaining about the dentist please remember THEY did not feed the bacteria in your mouth you did they are trying to help take care of the problem you caused not them! Yes I cave seen demineralized teeth remineralize, but if there is a hole(cavity) bacteria is going to live there and wait for that first drop to sugar to make it deeper and fillings are the way we know how. I see kids everyday with tons of cavities and the parents are mad at me for finding them but I did not put the apple juice(sugar), or chips(sugar) or even brest milk(sugar) on their teeth all day long. Change the diet, only eat at meal time with water to drink inbetween and remove the bacteria ~with a toothbrush, wash cloth, stick even without toothpaste I don't care. And after all that and cavities are still forming then something in the body is causeing you to have an acidic salivia GERD, Diabeties, Cancer (all caused from ~DIET!)

Why do we not hear about the ozone treatments that were in the news a year ago? At the time it was very popular in the UK and Europe, and dentists were giving instructions to US dentists, but now you hear nothing. Is it approved or not, and is it effective or not?

I and a number of others have stopped tooth aches using 3 volt batteries with cloth covered wires held next to the teeth. Mild DC current kills or deactivates germs quickly, as found by scientists at the Albert Einstein College of medicine, when using it on HIV and AIDS in the lab.

Homeopathy can assist with tooth regeneration. My son had holes in his front teeth as a baby from sucking on a pacifier. I gave him calcarea fluorica and the hole partially filled in. You could see where it had done so by the difference in the tooth color. The pediatrict dentist said the teeth were going to fall out anyway, so no need to fill them. Calcarea carbonica is another one to use for tooth decay. Consult a homeopathic practictioner if you would like to go this route and need assistance or do a google search on tooth decay and homeopathic remedies--a homeopathic remedy costs about $10, so it's much cheaper than the dentist and you have nothing to lose by trying it.

Has anyone here had any experience with the book by a dentist names Bob Nara? He realized that since the profession would not listen, then he'd take his findings public and let them decide. He wrote two books, 'Money by the Mouthful' and 'How to Become Dentally Self Sufficient. At one time he was very outspoken against common dentistry practices and they stripped him of his license for it. I think he got it back though.

Regards to article: there‘s a product I think made by Kavo that‘s used in Canada right now that does what I think the article is talking about. It re-calcifies the tooth by sealing it off and pumping it full of ozone.

It‘s not available to us in the US, shocker... some company must be due to lose money when it does get approved.

HELP: I‘m looking for info. on how to help teeth outside of making dietary changes.

I believe Dr. Mercola, however I have 3 children, and won‘t resort to cruel force feeding. Their teeth are in trouble, probably because of their diets, but that‘s not going to change in time to help their current teeth situation.

Pulpotomies (baby root canals), extracted teeth, abscesses, cavities, holes, etc. I believe Mercola, so extractions over root canals, worry about spacing prematurely removing baby teeth. hormone disrupting plastic composite? mercury fillings, duh. ceramic and gold, $1000+/tooth? Until they‘re more reasonable with diet, how can I help the permanent teeth?

Anyone‘s ideas on treatments, products etc. that could help their teeth is appreciated.

(Please don‘t offer a lecture on their diets. Not all children eat when they are hungry; starving them until they eat healthy foods is not an option. Tried too many things to motivate healthier diets, now #3 has multiple signs of being underweight. Too serious to fool around with, them eating is the goal now. Multitude of supplements at will -calcium, zinc, omegas +oils, acidophilus, etc. I hide ingredients ie -proteins, spirulina in pancakes -host of raw things, powders in smoothies, but #1 just boycotted smoothies. They‘re really waiting for the mother ship to drop off provisions.)

the reason behind tooth degeneration has not been found yet. The most obvious conclusion is that there are several reasons behind tooth degeneration like behind most phenomena. But we humans are very stupid. Science is obsessed with finding one-and-only-one reason as the cause of disease (Science is obviously not well equipped to deal with synergies and combinations) then they will never find the cause of tooth degenaration, besides, eliminating disease is not profitable for their business. So Is there hope? Well yes! there is always room for a miracle but that's what it would take. Dr Mercola's advise makes sense as to making sure that one lives as naturally as possible. I would also make sure that one pays attention to diversity in any sense (never buy your produce from one only supplier, etc etc). I am not sure about the metabolic type thing, after all if we are really close to our bodies we can very well know what's good and what's not good for each one of us. Tooth health is indeed a very clear indication of general health, still there are cancer patients with very healthy mouths, so there we go!!!

i'm facing a tooth extraction or root canal tomorrow. i went to my dentist 2 weeks ago to have 2 old crowns replaced as there was some decay starting around them. one i have had for 40 years believe it or not. after removing the crowns he found that one of the teeth had died and there was infection contained inside the tooth. it had died some time ago and my body had absorbed the infection so it really never hurt, etc. its a back molar so i think i will just have it pulled as i am 68 now and really don't want to go thru all that. i am wondering tho, as i have heard many times after root canal treatment that even tho they sterlize the canals and then seal them that bacteria can still remain and get into your system. but how is that possible if the infection is contained inside the tooth?

Ohhhhhhno! I HATE dentists. I have only been able to heal a couple of cavities, but I am still working on it. I would practically walk naked across the Brooklyn bridge to avoid a dental visit. (and that folks, would be utterly frightening to see!) I have had TWO back to back BAD dentists in two different states. Nope, they didnt know each other nor were they related. How is it possible that two different DDS' could drill the incorrect tooth at each visit?? And why are they so darn specialized? Nowadays dentists dont do all they used to. Got a cavity? As long as it is not too much of anything they can do something. I have had dentists threaten me that if I didnt use a nylon toothbrush with flouride toothpaste and Act Flouride BullKrapp in a bottle, I would have no teeth. Like they could somehow make that happen?

My mom went to dentists for 40 years. She is 65 and toothless now. I rest my tooth, um, case..

Those looking for a natural and inexpensive way to remineralize teeth should investigate the use of small amounts of xylitol.

Only a couple of teaspoons each day will help stimulate minerals to go into teeth and xylitol will also reduce the population of harmful acid-producing bacteria in the mouth.

A few years ago, I got rid of my remaining ?silver? fillings by a qualified dentist in Tokyo, who insisted I needed something to replace them?expensive ceramics. He did, however, let me continue my experiment with three teeth I?d lost fillings from and decided to just let go at that. His opinion was that I would get more cavities in them. For several years there seemed to be no problem. I?ve taken Dr. Mercola?s and Weston Price?s recommendations to heart. However, last fall, I managed to overcome chronic constipation, but instead have very loose bowels, and it appears I have been failing to absorb enough nutrients. The first sign of trouble was weakness in one of my back teeth that had a ceramic filling. So off I went to a conventional dentist, who fixed it up with composite and chided me terribly for not brushing adequately (30 min/day?). He?s never heard of Dr. Price, needless to say. He let me go without fixing the teeth without fillings, but warned me that I had let them go very long and?what a shame--I could lose them. I am taking more care to get proper nutrients and avoid sugar like the plague. I read recently that L-glutamine can help promote nutrient absorption in people with adrenal exhaustion (which appears to be my problem). But I am really confused about what would be best to do about my teeth. Chemically harmful fillings would just be a band-aid solution unless I find the underlying problem. The news of a regenerative technique in development gives me hope. Even my best attempts to get good nutrition seemed to have failed, at least temporarily.
