Seems to be quite the polarization. Why the -16 points for KiwiMatt? There certainly is an abundance of junk science going around...look at the climate change issue. Prominent celebs from David Suzuki to Al Gore promote the idea that man has created global warming. Lots of people (the horses) are sucked into their diatribe, which is based on very limited (on the verg of junk) science. To be fair, the horses don't get much chance to drink from the other stream (real science is rarely and obscurly broadcast by major media). Multitudes of scientists disagree with our esteemed celebs, for real reasons. Read "State of Fear" by Michael Crighton. The bibiography is vast (about 1/4" thick) listing real science resources.

Our formed ideologies force us to accept info from sources with similar views, while rejecting info from opposers. Jonny, you can't know what your "enemy" is doing without reading their information. Some may surprise you (some).

And while skeptisism is good, conspiracies, or agendas certainly are and have been practiced on a regular basis. ie: No, the gov't doesn't train teachers. But most are NEA members, and are coerced into following NEA influenced curricullum . The NEA spends tons of lobby money to politically influence national education policy. So no teachers aren't literally trained by the gov't, but there is a connection.

Yes, corporations were established by government. But KiwiMatts statement is true. Corps. are like individuals...and just as diverse. The majority are very small. Like a guy in your town selling homegrown organic produce. Mightn't he be trustworthy? Corps. actually protect bus. from gov't (IRS) & other preditory litigation. They are not gov't children. If anything, gov't ibenefits from mega-corps that give money and influence to steer politicians.

Our Constutionally Limited Republic is trustable. It's the best gov't humanly formed. It works. If we return to it, we'll see.

Relying on government is at best a mistake. Remember, lobbiests pay big bucks to agencies like the FDA to make sure their products aren't too well scrutinized...particularly big food processors, big agriculture and pharmaceuticals. What we get labeled as "consumer protection" still leaves a lot to be desired.

What's most important is that people get off their butts and get educated. It's a lot easier with the advent of the internet. I think it's beginning to happen. Look at how processed food companies are beginning to label foods as containing vitamins, or removing trans fats, or claiming only whole grains etc. They would only do that if the public was becoming more concious of nutrients, and demanded better products. Of course we, here, know that most of what processed food companies are claiming are exagerations at best, and really mainly lies...but you see the trend. We need to get the word out faster, but that's about it. We, as a "free" society (at least we're still a LITTLE free), don't need to become food *** for example, to force the issue. Education works best. If people know what's happening and still choose for the worse, that's up to them. Sooner or later it will catch up to them...it's kinda like survival of the fittest. Nature will take its course.

The best thing is to eat healthy yourself. Then, tell (but don't badger) everyone you know about it...point out how much better you feel; let them look at you and see it works; tell them where to get information. Be an example. Then let nature take its course. Slowly you'll see positive results.

Trying to stuff something down someones throat, just makes them gag...repulses them. Maybe not so much from what you are trying to feed them, but from your methods. Isn't that what causes revolutions?

Remember the old adage..."a spoon full of sugar (in this case local raw unfiltered honey) helps the medicine go down". People react positively to help, but negatively to force

One would assume, that the same problems exist in the USA, Europe and elsewhere. There could be a number of reasons for the conflicting results, but sloppy lab. work or downright deception would be high on my list. I echo some of the community comments about the high cost of commercially available "organic" or whole foods. Obviously, the best solution is to grow your own food, but that's not always practicable. Farmer's markets are probably the next best thing. And avoid buying pre-packaged foods at the supermarket wherever possible.

Of course, if you're eating packaged foods you're really not getting the quality, anyway.
