A new study linked for the first time in scientific literature—a statistically significant association between autism risk and distance from the mercury source (power plants, cement plants etc.)

Two significant findings that I noted were:

* Found that community autism prevalence is reduced by 1 percent to 2 percent with each 10 miles of distance from the pollution source.

* For every 1,000 pounds of mercury released by Texas power plants in 1998, there was a corresponding 3.7 percent increase in autism rates in Texas school districts in 2002.

A summary is available here:

www.sciencedaily.com/.../080424120953.htm

It is also significant in that it appears to establishes a direct connection between mercury and autism, thus confirming the contribution of vaccination preservatives. But it is more complex than just vaccines.

I don't know why doctors are so casual with the patient's health, if it's greed, laziness, brain washing by the profession and the pharmaceutical companies, or just plain ignorance. But the ones that I have encountered are prescription happy, and do not want to hear that the patient does not want to get on a prescription, and certainly do not want to spend the time to look at alternatives.

It's not easy to find genuine alternative doctors in my area, and those that say they are are often fibbing, if not worse. So, as a patient, I have to be firm in my commitment to stay off the poisons of prescription, and, oh yes, to be firm in not getting flu shots every season (I've had a one day flu event in the last 30 years, and no flu shots.). This does not make it easy to work with a doctor, because often their hardheadedness and inability to accept that their way may not be the right way. gets in the road of real health, not drug induced "so-called" health. I have little faith in the profession, but if an emergency comes up, yikes, I have to go under their care. It's scary!

Not vaccinating your children puts other children at significant risk for getting illnesses that have not been seen for decades. Currently in the metro milwaukee area we are experiencing an outbreak of measels and rubella. If you choose not to have your children vaccinated that is your choice, but then your kids need to be separated from the others because I'm not going to chance my child getting sick from something that should have been irradicated. Your belief is selfish and you should be ashamed that you are putting other people's children at risk.

My son goes to speech therapy once per week and there is an occupational therapist in the same building. I see a woman every week that takes her little 3 year old boy to O.T. at the same time my little guy goes to Speech and her boy has autism. I asked her one day if she felt that vaccines triggered his autism and her reply was that she didn't vaccinate her son. She said he always had very bad allergies and noticed a slow decline after a bout a illness around 18 months old; then when he was a little over 2 y.o. he had really bad ear infections and was put on antibiotics and that sent him over the edge, within two weeks of taking the antibiotics he lost most of his skills (speech, walking, responsiveness, etc).

I think a lot has to do with diet and exposure to toxins causing immune systems to overreact to everything.

2 significant conclusions from the study:

- For every 1,000 pounds of mercury released by Texas power plants in 1998, there was a corresponding 3.7 percent increase in autism rates in Texas school districts in 2002.

- Autism prevalence diminished 1 percent to 2 percent for every 10 miles from the source.

Summary at www.sciencedaily.com/.../080424120953.htm

Autism is apparently not just caused by vaccination but vaccination would seem to surely be a contributing factor given the established connection with mercury exposure.

If you are going to quote such dramatic medical data you had better back it up with the documentation, or else its just so much internet rumors and "I heard it from my friend who knew the guy"

With all the poisons and toxins in the world today how on earth could you possibly link any illness to trace mercury in a vaccination. Maybe its arsenic from all the coal fired power plants. we have created a world where I am not sure it is possible to know.

Certainly safer than riding a 4 wheeler or eating at McDonalds!!

I do not know of a single person of thousands who believes vaccines hurt their child. But it is a free country and if you don't want to be vaccinated I do believe that is your choice. You will likely be protected by herd immunity anyways.

I have seen an Amish child contract tetanus, what a terrible thing, but interestingly enough they immediately embraced convetional medicine and this child was in the hospital in an induced coma for over 12 weeks. The herbalist they were getting their advice from didn't have a treatment for that what ailed her then. The hospital bill was well over $250 thousand. All for lack of a $50 tetanus series.

And to be critical of a researcher for where he gets his funds seems almost humorous in this forum, do you folks think Dr. Mercola isn't making any money from the supplements, books, and seminars he offers on this site? Would that not a clear conflict of interest also?

Oh but you like what he is saying so you look the other way on that one. Or is it that you want to believe he has the best interests of the public in mind. Hmm maybe those other researchers do too, and they just have a different opinion from yours...

One thing I know for sure, if we could get folks to eat just one half as well as Dr. Mercola suggests we would not have half the health care crisis we do in America.

Corn is king and it is killing all of us.
