I grew up in Lahina and use to swim with those whales. I have known of Dr. Mercola for many years and respect most of his work. I left in 1989 to pursue medical school and wound up living in Alaska where I observed the same whales feeding on the rich stocks of krill that I hope will be protected by the Alaska Fisheries regulations and restrictions. I had the privilege of commercial fishing there and have knowledge of the greed that spread from Hawaii to Alaska. I too got caught up in the Hawaiian greed train and the very whales that attract so many to the islands are being threatened by the few élite humans who can afford to live & visit there.

While Dr. Mercola and many readers who see these photos enjoys my home of Maui , you are contributing to the rapid decline of the Island and if we use his products we help pay for his luxury at the expense of the wildlife in these photos as well as other species. I pray that the good doc will take interests in this old Kaaminina's fragile home and is involved in helping protect the islands unique nature. The following will semi-explain some of the environmental and personal issues that face the Islands future.

The first black & white photo looks as if it is a leatherback turtle but it's really the head-on view of a humpback whale as you can see the whale's tail in the background.

Great photos. This reminds me of life's natural tendency to return back to the ocean where all life originated. Isn't it a wonder that our best nutrition comes from the sea? Dr. Mercola has returned to his roots just like the whales he shows us here. Everybody knows that whales are belonging to a similar type of prehistoric wolf. An example off life returning to the ocean is very beautiful.

I have been blessed with the good fortune to have visited the Hawaiian Islands 7 times, and these photos makes me realize that it has been too long since I was there. The whales are always at the top of my list of things to see. I spend hours every day watching for them and watching them, in fact, we even follow them up (or down) the coast while they put on their spectacular shows. There is nothing like it! I have heard the saying Maui No Ka Oi ( "Maui is the Best"), but I happen to like Kauai the best.

I have been bountifully blessed to be in Maui more times than I can count and see hundreds of Humpback Whales and their babies... Maui is heaven on Earth... A person can put their head under water and listen to the Humpbacks' sing their beautiful whalesongs... While standing at Charles Lindberg's grave and viewing 270 degrees of ocean, a huge Humpback leaped completely out of the water and crashed down in the waves..... I also saw a pod of approximately 50 (that size pod is very rare) Humpbacks swimming directly toward a beautiful sunset.....spouting, singing, and leaping all along the way - with their babies...... Maui No Ka Oi..... "Maui is the Best"

Nice pictures. We see the whales up here in Alaska regularly, the vitamin D - not so much. Look forward to going there and seeing them, warming up and TANNING. W wewelcome any and all that want to come here and see them and catch free range organic salmon! And buy authentic Naitive American Plastic Totempoles made in Taiwan.

These creatures are beautiful, however my concern about these & other sea creatures is Why are we taking their main food source "KRILL" and massively removing it for our consumption. 1 whale consumes 1000lbs a day not to mention other beautiful sea creatures main diet. This cannot be good. What say you ?????

Thank you for the beautiful pictures of those awesome whales. I am a plus 80 age senior, and as I viewed the whales,

one picture brought thoughts of Penguins. Never would I have had the opportunity to see whales,

or pictures of whales, to view as the ones in the e-Mail.
