I took the first of the 3 shots and I felt sick and weak for an entire week. I vomited and hated ever receiving the shot. I often wondered if I should go get the other 2 but I've decided not to. I hate that I did not find this article before receiving it injection. Hopefully, I will not have any complications later on in my life.

This is an interesting article, but I feel that it misrepresents the issue of the Gardasil vaccine entirely. First, it doesn’t describe the number of complications or deaths in relation to the number of vaccines administered. Also, many of the complications appear to be due to intramuscular injections and not due to the actual vaccine, such as Bell’s Palsy and Guillan-Barre Syndrome, which can both be caused by any vaccine. IM injections can cause sciatica or paralysis because of the physical trauma of the needle and are usually caused by incorrect injection practices. As for miscarriages and birth defects; providers attempt to reduce the risk by screening women prior to receiving the vaccine. Informed consent is the law in Canada and if a person would receive any medical treatment without informed consent they would have legal recourse to sue the provider. The reason why Gardasil could not be sued in these cases is because they actually do provide information regarding the possible complications, side effects and allergic reactions that have occurred. Any new vaccine always receives media-hype regarding its negative effects and rarely does the media describe the benefits. Health care providers and government programs, such as school vaccine programs are left to provide information to the public about the real effects of vaccines. Yearly, approximately 1450 Canadian women will be diagnosed with cervical cancer and approximately 420 Canadian women will die due to the disease (Health Canada, 2006). As health care professionals we have a duty to provide information about cervical cancer and its risk factors, how to reduce risk factors and treatment of the disease once it has developed. It is irresponsible of a physician to make a recommendation that women do not receive this vaccine. I myself have HPV, and I am most likely one of the unlucky ones whose outbreaks have never cleared up. According to all these updates about this virus, I will most likely be at risk for cervical cancer. At what age I have no idea. I know I am scared as hell about the day the doctor tells me I do have cervical cancer though. I only wish they had known more about this disease when I was growing up and just how common it was even 10-15 years ago.

When my daughter is old enough I will have to tell her the scary truth about, not only my situation, but about everyone else she has the potential of getting if from. Since this unfortunate day so many years ago, I have learned not only to use protection but to make sure I have my annual exam, every year!!!.

It is also important for ALL women to have their partners tested before AND after they ever engage in any kind of sexual encounter. I never thought it could happen to me, and it did. If they are able to come up with a vaccine with no side effects within the next 10 years for my daughter, I am all over it. We can't stop our kids from having sex... so why not prevent something if we can.

Dr. Mercola, you always give good advice, but instead of encouraging "safe sex practices" or waiting for a "committed relationship", why don't you just tell people the truth, that the only "safe sex" is within a faithful marriage?

USMom68 - Thankyou for your kind words, some comments here have gotten under my skin and want these people to know it's not all that back & white and there aren't too many of me around. I do not have the energy to fight this battle, unlike yourself and I congradulate you and hope you have some form of success. I am now faced with whether I should vaccinate my little girl since finishing treatment, her immune system is damaged enough through her gruelling chemo protocol, which I complimented with natural therapy. I want to keep her safe, what is safe? It's anyones guess! If she relapses our next course of action will be Dr John Holts treatment which is hardly affordable due to being taken of our medicare registar in Australia. This all so confusing, looking for the truth!

When is the last time you heard or read that SMOKING is a risk factor for cervical cancer? As much literature as I have read and seen posted in medical offices on cervical cancer, I rarely see smoking mentioned. Could it be that the HPV strains which are seen in cervical cancer are activated by smoking? Why don't they tell us the whole story...HA!

WOW!!!!! I'm so glad I found this. Before basketball season I had to get a sports physical. My doctor recommended that I get Gardasil. My mom said no and I also said no. Now I'm so glad that I didn't get it. Thanks Dr. Mercola

AHHHH!!! I let my daughter have two of the three vaccines before I knew it was such poison!!! She has had dizzy spells but, thankfully, no other side effects thus far. Is there anything I can do to reverse or prevent the possible long-term effects??

I'm 47 and have four small children...two boys and two girls. This is my random two cents. Concerning sexual behavior, attitude, multiple sex partners, std, disfunctional families, and the key point...TV and blantant sexual references. Growing up is difficult enough especially for boys. Does anyone remember the series " Leave it to Beaver?" Before you tune me out, listen. Hugh Beaumount aka Ward Cleaver held a Master's degree in Theology and was an Ordained Methodist Minister before he accepted the role of Ward Cleaver. My point is probably not too many people out there knew that, and the fact that he had much to say regarding the shows plot and handling of family matters. His persona was stern and understanding. He established boundries and believed in corporal punishment only as a last resort. He honered his wife and was sober and honest. Watch it, and gain an understanding of its theme, then if you are able to, insert the world today as it plot??? Try and imagine how the story unfolds and finally draw your conclusion. End of story!

The illness in this country that is the most dangerous one is greed and we can see that it is a pandemic in the giant drug companies...They get together with the greedy at the advertising agencies and they sell push the drugs with fear. The old saying, " we have nothing to fear but fear itself" is so true. The people who can see this are ahead of the game but I feel for most of the population who do not know and TRUST the medical community. It's like trusting the wolf the has come into the sheep pasture. We who are reading and writing here are not the ones to worry about. It's those who have no idea and nobody is watching out for them. The US government is silent. Dead silent on all subjects...both sides of the aisle. Until US CITIZENS wake up and begin to loudly protest, we will be silently killed by the money-making schemes of all big businesses.
