I was SO bored, I didn't even get past 30seconds. I actually do watch some TV because I have a few favorite programs. I love the History Channel.

TV isn't ALL bad!

Even Coke has done better commercials than this one.

Now my favorite commercial I can't find on the internet anymore. It was a Strough's commercial -long before the dog- with officers on a space ship. It starts out with the ship being notified of a weight variance and the commander says he'll get back to it after dinner. The seen changes to the commanders room where he shows his officers two sets of pills for their dinner and then shows them three bottles of Strough's beer and says, 'and this is our weight variance.' It's been at least thirty years since I've seen that commercial and it still tickles me! I wish I could find a copy of it, but that was before most people had video recorders, sigh.

Yes, I know beer isn't any healthier than Coke, but the Strough's spaceship commercial still my all time favorite.

In the UK the News Chronicle ceased publication not because of a lack of readership - it had a circulation of over a million readers but because it was unpopular with advertisers. I guess the writers were a bit too god at their job and were biting the hand that few them.

Sure, it's value is limited when put in the context of a product most of us have rejected, but what many of the commentators here seem to miss is the importance of branding and advertising, something we need more of in the natural foods industry.

Isn't it better to make use of what other's know and re-purpose it for more good, rather than just rant about them being "evil". Get some perspective and compassion... people who work at Coca Cola, or even those who are upper management are not aware that they have a product that is detrimental to health, so their intent is not evil, just uninformed. They have wives and husbands and children and they are trying to make a living, just like you and me. Such talk reminds me of those few environmental nut cases that went around chaining themselves to trees or worse, driving steel rail spikes into the trees so some unsuspecting lumberman cutting the tree with his chain saw gets injured or killed. Stereotyping people is not cool in my book.

As for all the Boob Tube haters who have pulled the plug on their TV and think they are somehow purer... reminds me of my raw food preaching days. I’d get invited over for dinner and spend all evening telling my hosts that their sugar was “poison” and their white bread disgusting. I finally grew up and realized there is a higher law, the law of love. It gently persuades rather than ranting and stereotyping. TV is like money, it's not the money itself that's evil but how it’s used. If you have kids and monitor the TV, telling them what you see that is wrong (as well as what's right) that will have far more influence then just telling them they can't watch it because it will "rot their mind". It's called critical thinking and I'd like to see more of it here in these forums.

It's beautifully animated but most persons wouldn't sit through that type of commercial more than once. Commercials need to be quick, witty and at most 25 seconds... If it was supposed to be a mini-animated movie I suppose it was okay, though I don't think I'd want to watch a movie selling a product for so long.

I think health folks keep their products 'undercover' because of the widespread sabotage.

That's the first thing it reminded me of. That's where all the weird creatures and convoluted ways of travel come from - even the underwater world part. Kids (and adults) that are really into that genre of video gaming are the target market for that ad.
