Slowly we are being brainwashed to think that carrying extra weight can be a good thing. I think this article offers no benefit to anyone. All it does is make people think that being overweight is ok. Junk in the trunk is not healthy and never will be. Being overweight is not healthy period. Who wants to be larger than they need to be? There is no good news about big bottoms unless you are selling products that help people with big bottoms. So why don't we encourage people to accept their over sized rumps so we can sell them fat loss pills down the road or other drugs that they think will help them that actually won't. C'mon people. Let's pull the wool off our eyes and see what's really going on here.

One hour of cardio - I don't think so! Dr. Al Sears (Wellness Centre in Florida) recommends 10 - 20 minutes of Progressively Accelerating Cardiopulmonary Exertion (PACE): such as 5 sets of interval training (with a warm-up set) - you can use cardio equipment, do wind sprints, jump rope, do calisthenics, even resistance training.

I do 5 sets wind sprints in the morning (morning workouts are recommended by John Tesh's "Intelligence For Your Life" radio/web program), 5 sets of jump rope (starting slow and building up to maximal exertion by the 5th set), followed by weight-assisted calisthenics/resistance training with 5/10/15 lbs dumb-bells (3 alternate days upper body, 3 alternate days lower body). My landlord installed a chin-up bar on the backyard porch.

My total actual workout/exertion time is about 20 - 25 minutes. Top-flight athletes don't work more than about 25 minutes per day, typically. The glycogen in the muscle is totally consumed by about that period of intense physical exertion.

I rest between sets until my heart rate and breathing are easy (no gasping or puffing). The whole work-out period takes about 1 hour in total.

Stretching is critical (Dr. Al Sears says that it releases acids from the muscles - lactic acid?) in the prevention of muscle/ligament/tendon injuries. Natural fitness programs/regimes (such as PACE) have demonstrated lower injury rates than so-called cardio-fitness ones. But stretching is still critical.

An excellent way to warm-up is the mind/body activation and stretching modality found in Qi-gong (chi-gung). Ten minutes of Qi-gong plus 10 minutes of gentle stretching will gently get you going.

Let the sweat begin.

As far as sporting a prominent posterior, I'm afraid that the answer is vigorous exercise, healthy eating and not telling yourself that a fat *** runs in the family. One of the main things that seems to run in families is laziness. Kettlebell swings, done properly, will destroy the fat on that behind like no-one's business.

It may be "cool" to say fat ass around your friends and close environment but out in the big wide world of different people, shapes, sizes, colors, and cultures.....it's not cool at all. Besides, in many cultures, having a big *** is considered quite pleasing as well as desireable by women who want to attract a wealthy male. tee hee Our westernized world is overly image conscious instead of just enjoying our bodies for what they are. Anyway, we are simply spiritual beings having a human adventure, so we are all going to have a different form (body/adventure).

Dr. Mercola! I can't believe you said:

"Avoid grains and sugars in your diet like the plague"

SHAME ON YOU! As a responsible doctor, you should know that this is wrong, wrong, wrong! Numerous tests have proven that grains are NOT dangerous toward diabetes. An overload of any carbohydrate can be detrimental, but telling unsuspecting readers to "avoid" them "like the plague" is just ignorant! Most grains - rye, rices, etc - are packed with nutrients and, especially those which are low on the glycemic index, valuable to slowly provide glucose to a person's bloodstream.

Read Dr. Neal Barnard's book, Program To Reverse Diabetes, to find out the truth about what really causes diabetes - cholesterol-packed animal products and fats. What's that? How do I know? Because after I was diagnosed with a serious case of Type 2 Diabetes last year, I followed Barnard's program and saw my diabetes, cholesterol, blood pressure, and weight all fall within healthy levels in six months. (NOTE: I'm not selling anything, nor do I work for or with Barnard.)

Please, Dr. Mercola, be more careful about tossing around absolutes like avoiding a healthy food like the plague.

Shame on you!

I wonder how many things have to be rediscovered before modern science and medicine will consider looking back to the wisdom in ancient sources.

"Subcutaneous fat, found just under your skin, is the type of fat that causes dimpling and cellulite. This type of fat turns out to be intrinsically different from visceral fat in several ways. It actually produces substances that act systemically to improve glucose metabolism, and is able to COMMUNICATE with various organs to elicit beneficial effects."

As an electrosensitive who, though underweight, has developed a variety of gastrointestinal issues (IBS), I've noticed that many of my organs and organ systems are failing to communicate with each other, not just my digestive system.

So if you are overweight - apple-shaped, pear-shaped, tootsie-roll shaped, or whatever - I would read the Bioinitiative Report and get yourself a gaussmeter. My digestion comes to a screeching halt upon exposure, and for people who have the right genetics, a screeching halt means fat in the hips, thighs, belly, etc...

Electrical Sensitivity & Hypersensitivity:

www.ei-resource.org/.../electrical-sensitivity-&-hypersensitivity

Bioinitiative Report:

www.bioinitiative.org/.../index.htm

So do yourself a favor - get rid of your cell phone/cordless phone, wi-fi, etc...if you have a weight problem or any digestive issues.

A giant deirrer belongs to me

I've always worked to fit in size of three

I hate the blasted skinny pants I couldn't fit quite in

I desperately envyed my friend's body, so thin

No one seemed to care about my size

But as I looked in the mirror, I wanted to cry

I look at the area so large

Always wearing black gave me a charge

But now I see, this is me

How I was made, so live free

Sad to hear of my friend's who fit so carefree

In those pesky little sizes of three

Okay, I know it's lame, but it was either this or go and write that report for my Biology Class...

What you ask my reconcilation?

Why do I adore my two-charied share?

I suppose people will jump on me with a bunch of "thumbs downs" now, but I honestly don't care. That system seems a bit childish to me anyway. I've read a few threads here where someone was being totally calm, rational and polite in explaining why they disagreed with a majority opinion and yet they had recieved a large negative rating for that post. So much for tolerance.
