I am not a biologist but I am reasonably well informed about everything important. I had no idea! I am taken totally by surprise. Stamet has to do everything he can to propagate this knowledge, which I am sure he is doing, and everyone else has to do whatever we can to spread the knowledge around. I am astounded and energized with enthusiasm at the newly found knowledge that gives rise to so much optimism. I never believed in silver bullets but this is at least the key to the solution to many intractible and destructive problems.

Inspiring. Gives me a little more hope for the future of our species. I've always been fascinated by fungi -- their growth habits, their capacity to break down materials and recycle them into harmless elements that the earth can use positively.

My mother used mushroom compost in her garden, years ago. The plants that grow there are usually lush, gigantic and long-lived. She has mushrooms popping out of the lawn all the time. Now I know why I think they're perfect.

If we all start in our own back yards, we'll gain a foothold.

So, how do I get a Life Box? How can I work to spread these wondrous creatures in my neighborhood? I'd like to "sneak" around the neighborhood, (west of Portland, Oregon) at night, spreading the contents of the life box into vacant lots, and "trashed" front yards -- be a "janey mushroom seed" person.

Who else wants to do this, too?

Let's not wait any longer to help save our planet and all the creatures on it that make Earth such a precious jewel.

Now I'd like to take our responsibility for practical thinking one step further.

I would ask that we consider moving the metropolitan areas to the eastern part of the state.

This may facilitate the natural fungal recycling.

This could take place in a economical as well as ecological manner since we have the technology to move water up hill.

let the sand and filtration of gravity cleanse our ground water and the mycelium recycle the rest of the toxins created by the masses of population.

This would allow us to give the water ways and pasture lands back to the wild life so it could thrive.

Maybe this is not practical for the monetarily vested bunch but for species survival we should at least think it over.

As a natural health researcher and author I have long followed mushrooms for their medicinal purposes , but I must confess to having little or no idea of just how much potential mushrooms and fungi had until watching this film. Wow!

Of course, the ones I was working with, were not beneficial to man, at least once they got a foothold in the body.

On a personal note, I have always loved the edible varieties.

But this was - WOW!!!! Ordered the book immediately. What a great foundation of study and breakthrough in the natural world. It is exciting to know that there are natural ways to fight the many obnoxious critters and heretofore difficult to prevent diseases.

And what wondrous creatures these fungi! Can't wait to learn more.
