Hey everyone,

Just wanted to add my insight to what is happening of late. Did anyone hear about Exxon selling its 2,200 gas stations nationwide? Exxon states the gas stations are no longer profitable, even though according to CNN, Exxon earned $41B in profits last year.

So why sell on a good thing? Is the "no longer profitable" a lie?

Even though I have no trust and respect with Big Oil in general, I have to say this is one of the most brilliant business manuevers I've seen a company do in a very long time. Exxon knows alternative forms of energy along with the increasing demand of vehicles who use them are coming in a strong way. Exxon saw this forecast and customer need a long time ago and started raising prices (along with the competitors who followed suit) to begin the transition phases. It's important to note that the transition phase is not the sole reason for increasing prices. That is for another article for another time.

The increase in gas prices insures Exxon's survivability. The sell off of the gas stations is simply to get rid of them (it's much better financially to sell a gas station no longer in need than refurbish one). Exxon will then build "Alternative Fuel Stations," for Hydrogren, Electricity, Battery Recharging, Ethanol, or whatever else of alternative energy comes up, and expand the stations accordingly.

For whatever reason, if this plan of building alternative fuel stations fails, there is enough money in the company to fall back on and regroup. There is enough time and money to figure out what went wrong and try again.

One has to look at current events as a master chess player. Who is making the moves and what good is it doing in the long run? Who follows suit? Why" Who is benefitting here? Don't believe the news because Big Media is holding the hat for Big Oil. I cannot reveal my sources (Boy, I wish I could) but if you just stop and think, it all makes sense.

Yes, it will be green. The green of our dollars.

And you can BET that they are going to pass LEGISLATION to PREVENT you and I from making Hydrogen at home and filling our own tanks.

BMW already has the 745H which can run on Gasoline or Hydrogen, using combustion.

Great idea. But they want you to BUY the specially pressurized Hydrogen.

This is what we have to stand up against.

We should be able to put a device in our garage that uses solar power and tap water, and makes hydrogen all day, storing it. We get home, and add it to the tank.

yes, stopping and filling up, we will have to pay something. But it shouldnt be anywhere NEAR the rates they are already using. And if you buy it, it will be TAXED HEAVILY.

But at least we will be green...

Honestly, I would be surprised if they don't PATENT the connectors to refuel, and refuse to sell them

to anyone but themselves...

Nothing is ever easy because too many people have their hands in our pockets, and congress is okay with it because they are the ultimate beneficiaries of the corruption.

Started 1972 women were told by government to get out of the house and go to work. this way government could start brainwashing the children in government schools. Also before 1970 all most all women never went into debt, but in order to buy a brand new car they went into debt, abortion started 1974 so when a women got pregnant ,she either aborted the baby or put it into day care, to be raise by some idiot. Women started driving 1972 and we have not built a refinery since 1976. With gas at 4.00$ per gallon , I have not notice a slow down of women driving their cars, they do not care, and stupid men keep on maintaining their cars.

You make some good points, but: Europe's $9 a gallon gas is essentially the same price that we pay at $4.50 a gallon when you factor our 25 average-miles-per-gallon vs the EU's average of 52 mpg.

As far as wastefulness in our shared culture goes, look no further than next week in NYC, check out this European's planned exhibition, all in the name of "art":

"When the spigots are turned on this Thursday, four mammoth [temporary, artificial] waterfalls will spring into existence, freestanding cataracts roaring down into the East River and New York Harbor in a multimillion-dollar engineering feat designed by Danish artist Olafur Eliasson."

I like waterfalls as much as anybody, but not when they are made of steel, and use massive other resources, for a temporary show! Oh well, it only costs $15.5 million. A mere "drop in the bucket".

Read the research documents presented by the Trilateral Commission going back to the Carter era through today and you'll find everything they have recommended to create a global economy driven by business desires have been promulgated by our government but not only through public policy but also through presidential orders. Look at the speeches Bush gave about Iraq, pre-war, and compare them to the research papers from the Trilat's and in some cases you'll find portions of his speeches verbatum from their documents that predate his speeches by years. They are the true puppetmasters of our government. Now, we speek of issues with energy. Let me direct you to a company who's founder, Dr. Mills, has rewritten our interpretation on Newton's law and many other areas of quantum physics. (www.blacklightpower.com/press.shtml) This website will show you how he takes hydrogen through his proprietary fuel cell process, reduces the orbit of the electron releasing energy, trapping that energy into a plasma stream and creating electricity from that stream. A 50KWatt generator is in operation TODAY!! Once the manufacturing sector is willing to retool and embrace this we will have an energy source that will revolutionize our planet.

My great grandfather, Philipp Muller, built a huge rainwater cystern, connected it to a wooden bed with lead pipes connect with U-joints, covered it with glass. My mother said they never ran out of water or hot water! Then, Pres. Carter started solar energy and I won a radio contest for solar water collector, electronic panel and special water heater that would heat water when there wasn't any sunshine. It cut my light bill in half!!! Carter had one installed on the White House and the first thing that incoming Pres.
I cannot belive that Ameica is findin '$4 per gallon of fuel to be an exceptionally high price.

Maybe you could share with others that here in the U.K we are also finding the price of fuel to be getting out of control. Our latest price per gallon is £5.67 most of the money we pay for our fueal here is heavily taxed by the goverment and they have a planned increase of £0.02 per gallon on this tax due to begin in October.

At the moment our news brodcastes are also reporting that we face large price increases in our domestic fuel wich they pedict could be as much as 40% by the end of the year.

This really does look like a huge global problem waitng to explode.

Indeed, what better way to ensure that a microsized, four-wheeled pestilence not invade our shores than to keep the speed limits jacked up to where they are today. That way, none of those 2-3 cyl 90+mpg diesels could ever pose a threat to our paranoid auto industry, which has been so woefully behind the eight ball for decades.

When I was in school I somehow made 20US (1000JA at the time) stretch for two weeks. I just found ingenious ways to make it last. I valued every single thing I owned because it was just so hard to come by.

You know what I'd like to see come out of this so called crisis? That the world will just slow the heck down. (y'know? back in the day when it took you a month to get a letter?) What used to take you half a day will take three days or maybe a week. Everyone is just concerned about maintaining their fast paced life style - with the way stress levels are rocketing all over the world maybe it would do the human race some good to just chill out a bit.

What ? Can't afford to drive 100 miles or whatever crazy distance you folks up on the big continents travel using your car? Collaborate with others going that direction - share the price. Plan your month out carefully so you're not driving insane distances too often.

Haven't got enough money to buy all that bread or meat you used to buy before? Eat half, your stomach will shrink and you won't feel like you're starving after a while.

Used to buying fastfood every evening? Well crap - buy it once a week as a treat. Growing up, getting fast food was something reserved for my birthday or if I'd passed some major exam.

How about using appliances and furniture until they're just about falling apart before switching them out? My friend told me she stocked her room with almost new furniture some person had thrown out.

Waste, waste, waste, that's really all the world right now is concerned with maintaining.

On a second note - why in god's name would people freeze to death in winter when people for centuries before have been managing to survive cold? And with nothing but a fireplace? Are they building houses badly?
