Good to know that the dangers of amalgam are now out in the open. It's a shame that people actually have to pay out of their pockets for the safe removal of a known toxic substances that the ADA actually approved for use in human beings. What a corrupt system indeed.

Does anyone know if the chelation product called "Detoxamin" is really effective for the removal of toxic metals in the body? Also, is it ok to detox your body, IE. take Detoxamin while you still have amalgam fillings present? Some suggest it is better to remove the source of mercury/ heavy metals before chelating, however, one is constantly being exposed to toxic metals from the environment as another prime source. I'm seriously thinking of undergoing a heavy metal detox regime.

Also, I currently have about 8 amalgam fillings. I would eventually like to have them safely removed. Until such time, I think I would like to detox a little first.

Any comments are appreciated.

I've read countless pages of Blog entrys on this site and even more searching on Google, but I have yet to find a clear viable alternative to mercury amalgams. I have a good friend looking at getting two "metal" teeth in the very near future. The way I understand it, her two front teeth have been ground down to stubs as a result of an injury. Her family is of a low socioeconomic status and may be limited in her choices due to poor insurance... What is the best option for her?

Yeah, well, the FDA's admission is all well and good...but do dentists actually READ the news?!

In a profession that handles (and inhales) mercury daily, most dentists must be mercury-poisoned themselves --- which may explain why they've shoved mercury and fluoride down our throats claiming these horrifically toxic substances are safe. (I assume Mercola readers know what mercury does to your brain.)

One down, one to go. Please, folks, tell every legislator and public official that now it's time to stop poisoning our water with fluoride. See www.fluoridealert.org for the damning science. The entire dental profession has much to be ashamed of. Hopefully, they will help right their wrongs. I know a small handful that are actively advocating against mercury and fluoride and they have my absolute gratitude and respect for defying the corrupt ADA.

I had an amalgam filling on my right lower jaw. At 46, I developed neck/shoulder problems, and my jaw always burned. A holistic doctor suggested the filling was the cause of all of it. After two surgeries my neck and shoulder still hurt like crazy more than a year after my operations. I had the filling removed a year ago and within about 2 weeks my burning sensation went away. Now my neck and shoulder are finally healing. My husband said the problem was all in my head, and he's right. Or at least it was in my head, until the filling was removed.

Wow, I really never thought I would see the day where they would admit this. Now everyone needs to see the dangers in CFL bulbs. I purchased some to help ease the burden on the planet and it ended up getting broke and I became very ill after exposure to it. I now have multiple chemical sensitivity and am pretty much disabled.

Also add that before the procedure take a handful

of Charcol capsules. Tak e ahandful afterwards also.

This will help trap any mercury that might have been swallowed.

I suffered for 2 years with irregular heartbeat after getting mine

removed even following all your listed reccomendations and the charcol.

The thing that finally got rid of it for me was cilantro. Took about a month

eating about a bunch of cilantro a day.

I am so glad this has come out but it saddens me because of the persecution of two dentists I know that were removing mercury amalgams and the ADA got wind of it. One was Hal Huggins and they literally drove him out of the country. They just tried to destroy him and now they are found out to be the liars and thugs that are.

I am amazed at this split in medical government groups but I am glad the Truth is finally out!

Wow - when did mercury become so dangerous? When I was in high school, 50 years ago, if we broke a thermometer we put the mercury in a dish and marveled at the fact that if you broke it into bits with your finger it would all run back together again.

I have fillings in my mouth that have been there at least 30 years. Every dentist I have asked about the dangers of amalgams has just laughed.

My health was fine until my (former) doctor decided I should take Zocor. Now I can hardly walk.

If you want to try to stay healthy try not eating fast food or processed food. Question your doctor about the side effects of any prescription medication and check out the possible side effects yourself to see if you think the risk is worth it. Rinse your mouth and nose daily with a mild saline solution. Good luck to everyone. I'm an old lady and guess I will die with my fillings still entact.

I found out in 2006 that I am allergic to thimerosal, the mercury based preservative found in eye drops, some vaccines like the flu shot, some makeup, and of course in dental fillings. I have a few mercury fillings. So is getting these removed is it in my best interest, being that I have a sensitivity to mercury? If so, should they be removed all at the same time or individually? I have no dental insurance and there are no natural dentists in my area to remove such using this protocol. Does anyone know if medical insurance will cover any of the costs associated with the removal due to the allergy to mercury? I really think that the fillings contribute to my decreased immunity, ear problems, and eczema.

In early 2006, I began to experience hand and face tremors. As an elite marathon runner, and very accomplished distance cyclist who ate organic, filtered my water and should have been healthy as a horse at 45 years old...I feared Parkinsons. Not one to visit doctors, I was lucky enough to read an article on heavy metal chelation. That led to scores of articles pointing towards the 12 amalgam fillings that several dentists had installed in my mouth since age five.

I took action, found a FANTASTIC, albeit expensive biological dentist in Carlsbad, CA, and $13k later had all of them removed. I religiously adhered to a combination of chlorella, alpha lipoic acid, MSM, NAC and other natural chelating processes (sauna) to remove the body burden of heavy metals that had built up. Most importantly? Within 3 weeks the tremors had completely disappeared. As well as the face twitching. My normal three hours of sleep had lengthened to almost eight, which is a true miracle. Least important? My hair started to grow back! No joke, the receding hairline is almost gone a few years later! Nice benefit.

Now, a little political diatribe. We are all rats, in a poisoned cage. Led by a control group that you can call Bildeberger, Mason, CFR, bankers or ancient European aristocracy...they grow rich as we grow weak. There is only one way to give your life meaning, and that is to seek to help others. Not to tear down, steal or destroy to get ethereal riches. The "shocking video" that you refer to, has been debunked. It looks very scary, but it is only water vapor rising off the heated tooth. Mercury vapor wouldn't rise, it is heavier than air. Just in case you want to know the truth and not revel in sensationalism. Personally. I think the alarmist debates about mercury in fillings stems from both truth and hype. We have much greater worries than this. Unwarranted removal increases risk to the teeth and increases mercury exposure. I prefer removal incrementally on an as needed basis. The best most biocompatible, durable material is gold.

I have a mouth full of silver amalgam fillings. I have always had bad teeth despite regular dental care growing up and taking care to floss and brush daily. A few years ago a dentist told me that my mouth was/ is acidic. I can barely afford traditional dental care there is absolutely no way I can afford holistic, homeopathic or biological dentistry. Is there no hope. Is my only hope to pray I can marry rich? Any suggestions?

I wish dr mercola would acknowledge that he sells light bulbs that contain mercury in amounts that DWARF a typical vaccine by 200 times. I have repeatedly asked this site to address this problem and warn their customers. If broken in a home the level of exposure is in MILLIGRAM amounts. The most noxious single spill amalgam excretes approximately 20 mcg per day, thus acute toxicity from a broken light bulb is a real issue. Additionally most people simply discard these bulbs to go to the local landfill further contaminating our environement. EARTH911.0rg lists local recycling facilities for proper disposal. BUYER beware.
