Marcola,

Thank you for this information because I have Sarcoidosis in which vitamin D and Calcium is my enemy. I have been told to stay out of the sun. I am 51 years old and I know that both of these supplements are what I need for bone health, and I am on 10mg of Prednisone once a day. My doctors have not been informative at all as to what vitamins I should take, so I have done research myself. My whole lifestyle has changed. I juice and steam all of my vegetables, cauflower, broccoli, yams, yellow squash, onions, carrots, brown rice, and whole grain pasta. I eat fish such as sardines, salmon, and Talapia. Everything is steamed. I eat low glycemic fruits, such as blue berries, straw berries, apples, peaches, banana, and pears. I also exercise 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week. So my question is what else can I do to make sure that my bone health and kidney health is superb. I am also a diabetic (controlled by diet), I currently take vitamin E, Vitamin C, Garlic, Omega 3, Cranberry, acidophilus, and I found out that my SARCODOSIS IS STAGE 2-3, CAN IT BE REVERSED? It is in my lungs, spleen and abdomen. HELP!!! IF YOU CAN PLEASE DO SOME RESEARCH ON SARCODOSIS THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES.

I'm sure some people suffer from inadequate Vitamin-D and other vitamins and minerals too, but for the last 2 years I have been looking at our body more as an integrated organism and trying to understand the interaction of vitamins, minerals, enzymes and our body chemistry as a whole because the needs and absorbtion are all part of our metabolism and just upping your Vitamin-D intake doesn't mean your body will absorb or utilize it if something else is out of wack.

I've developed a large amount of experience with adaptogens which work to balance the entire metabolism and it is amazing to see various deficiences disappear as the body achieves homeostasis.

At this point I recommend people to research adaptogens and to take a high quality formula for 2 to 6 months and see what their body fixes. I have been amazed.

I also take krill oil, fish oil, natto,co-q-10,turine,L-carnitine,garlic,magneseum,vitamin E,and resveratrol. most of this stuff I have been taking for about 2&1/2 years to stop real bad angina pain. None of it has helped at all. I have used the very best I could find of all these things and have had no success with angina pain. I lead a very active life as long as I don't try to run more than 100 yds with the dog when we go for a walk. The only thing that has ever made my angina go away was George Eby's zinc flush, and that lasted only about 6 weeks. This included 14 days of 300mgs of zinc gluconate in the form of cold lozenges. As far as the vitamin D overdose,I think it would be almost impossible to do.Keep in mind that I am on the lake for 6-8hrs a few times a week and also the golf course as well as eating 50,000 iu of D a day.I don't take that much any more but I feel great except for the angina pain. I feel that my angina pain is a good gage as to the effectiveness of all these things that I have tried and they all seem to come up short. I also take NO meds of any kind including aspirin. I stick myself with fish hooks from time to time and bleed a lot so my blood seems pretty thin. I advise everyone I know to max out on vitamin D than back off after a while.I never get sick ever. I would advise all of the above for prevention but as a cure I don't think we can get there.

Has anyone read or researched Dr. Joseph Pendergast's and Dr. Norm Shealy's Vitamin D3 regime? They are advocating 50,000 IU a day until you reach optimal levels via the appropriate blood test and then (AND ONLY THEN) reducing the dose to 10,000 IU a day. During the winter and if you live above the line that cuts across Texas basically, you can opt to increase that daily dose while testing your levels every three months. A blood spot Vitamin D test costs around $100.00 so it can get pricey. I've been taking 50,000 IU a day for nearly one month and have seen increased muscle development and minor weight loss (which I need anyway since I'm 15 pounds overweight.) I just had my D3 levels tested and I'm 85 ng/ml with the lab reference showing up to 100 is "optimal."

Dr. Pendergast can be seen on YouTube and other places on the Web. Norm Shealy is actively conducting a study RIGHT NOW at his clinic with his own money on Vitamin D3 and erectile dysfunction. Dr. Shealy takes 50,000 IU a day and has for about two months without any toxic effects.

I'd love to hear any comments on this.
