He practices what he preaches as well. I am 54 yrs. young and I am in the best shape of my life thanks to the "Living Foods Principles" I believe DR.
Raw cabbage is even better for you when made into sauerkraut - supposedly has lots of health benefits.

Chadzilla

For more protein without the carbs, try making seitan. It is made from vital wheat gluten, so no good if you are gluten intolerant. I went to a vegetarian Chinese restaurant where all the dishes were made from this - it was like eating pork or chicken. I didn't know what it was made from then. I Googled it and found quite a few recipes.

Also, savoury yeast flakes (or nutritional yeast) are very high in protein and give food a 'cheesy' taste. You can probably buy this at health food shops.

I am a 20 plus year vegetarian, and at the age I am now, I am the healthiest person on both sides of my family, and among all of my friends. I am the only vegetarian in the family, there is one vegan, but that diet I just dont get at all. She is always sick all the time btw.

I have been sick 5 times that I can recall in 20 plus years. The vegan has been sick about 898 times . The meat eaters all have chronic ailments. They also all take piles of colorful pills. (even the vegan).

Is being a vegetarian the right choice for everyone? Probably not. But it is for me.

Gimme my veggies, small side of good grains, butter, yogurt, apple and grape juices ,and fruit and I am a happy camper. If you want to slurp up animal juices and gnaw on animal flesh, go right ahead. Just dont offer me any :)

Aside from the horrific suffering most animals undergo so we can eat their flesh or their excretions (milk, eggs), even the "free ones" must be killed against their will. What animal willingly and without fear, walks to their own slaughtering platform or noose?

Interesting discussions here. Let me add my part, based on personal experience. I have followed a raw diet for twelve weeks to find out what happens. It was a recommendation by a doctor, who cured hypertension, diabetes and also lebrosy with this diet. I had none of these, but wanted to find out how I would feel. It was fantstic and today, I am still following this diet at least 60% of the time and I never felt healthier! If there is anyone out there, who is interested in a balanced eating habit after having done the raw food plan for at least twelve weeks, I will provide the URLs to give you a chance to do your own investigation and try it. It will not harm you and you may even attain a state of health you never knew before. This doctor found, that the reason we are getting these degenerative health problems is, that we cook all our food. After you have tried this doctor's recommendation, you can go back to your original eating habits (slowly) and moderately. Balance is Key.

Note from Dr. Johann Georg Schnitzer's "Health Secrets":

The following links lead to knowledge which most doctors withhold

from their patients: How to remain sound in body and mind up to a

ripe old age, and how to recover from so-called incurable civilization

diseases, ailments and conditions (which are very lucrative for the

medical system). The media and politics also ignore this knowledge.

Diseases as a multi-billion-business have too many profiteers,

lobbyists, pressure groups and “rent-a-mouths”.

I don‘t even want to get into the dangers of animal protein pertaining to cancer, arthritis, depression, parasites, etc. There is so much protein propaganda out there that no one should believe, and all based on studies by the beef corporations.

A shark can‘t live on kale? This is such an ignorant statement! Do you have rows of razor sharp teeth in your head? And how long is your intestinal tract? Way too long to compare yourself with any carnivorous animal!

This is how I will choose who to believe: those whose diseases are healed, whose discomforts disappear, whose well being glows, whose tumors disolve, who get out of their wheelchairs, whose bones regenerate, who don‘t get sick, who don‘t have body odor and blemishes and fat bellies. And you don‘t find their books at Borders or the grocery store.

Yeah, ok, you give up your cell phone and meanwhile go eat your raw animal flesh. That‘s real consistant. And stop comparing yourself inappropriately with carniverous beasts. The strongest animals, with the most stamina, are almost all raw vegans and don‘t have sharp elongate fangs. You on the other had, are better suited to masticating carrots and spinach.

Sheesh. What the hell is next. An article on how drinking urine is good for you? Yeah, I‘ll bet it‘s loaded with freakin‘ protein.

re: Why Does the Media Completely Misunderstand Raw Food Diets?

There's lots of misunderstanding going on here too.

1) When a polar bear is relocated to San Diego zoo... it is STILL designed for POLAR bear food.. that doesn't change because has been relocated. Just because people MOVED away from the tropics, doesn't change what people are DESIGNED for. ADAPTATION is completely different from EVOLUTION.. It doesn't take nearly as long to adapt as it does to evolve.

2) Again, based on design.. using the animal model in nature like Mercola has, there is NO model in nature to show us this difference of carb vs. protein types... Great White sharks eat what they do because they are DESIGNED for it... ALL of them.. you don't have some GW eating seaweed (as in his example) and others not. ALL animals are like this.. you never an elephant wondering about if it's a carb or protein type... they just eat what they do because they are designed for it AND they clearly enjoy it. No species has separate carb and protein types.

You wouldn't think for a minute that it would be normal for a lion to eat bananas... ergonomically it's a bizarre picture... ALL carnivores eat their meat within minutes (or hours if they must

drag it away for safety of their being or cubs). They eat EVERYTHING... it's warm.. the blood, it's fresh.. no such thing as "aged beef" (rotting), the organs.. they CLEARLY love all of it. They have claws and speed with which to bring down the food they were designed for.

If what we are designed for is NOT available due to climate conditions (and we are in nature) then certainly, from a survival standpoint, we yes, will kill and eat animals and we'd eat right after the kill. This is SURVIVAL. it's different... it's adaptation. yes, the body is amazing.

Carnivores internal workings are very different from humans/anthropoid apes.... you NEVER see apes

at watering holes in any nature videos.. even Planet Earth... they get their water from eating fruit & plants.

think nature

re: Why Does the Media Completely Misunderstand Raw Food Diets?

I would add that to those of you who eat vegan diets because you don't want to kill animals--you have obviously not lived on a farm. I remember the many little creatures that were killed in the fields when my dad used a plow or combine. Unless you are able to buy all your food from Amish people who use horse drawn equipment or grow your own animals will die. I prefer to follow the Native American idea of being grateful to the spirit of the animal for giving its life for our sustanence--I also think it is important to only consume animals that have been humanely raised--thus no factory farm animals--it is better for them and us!
