But I think it’s important to take a few minutes to think about what the Fourth of July is really about -- in a word, liberty. The philosophy

re: The Philosophy -- and the Price -- of Liberty

Wolfgang,

True, Mr. Paul is a libertarian and thus there would be a withdrawal of government involvement. However, look at it the other way. He would also withdraw support for corporate power. So since corporations are the only ones getting support for most of the last 20 years, this "wild west" scenario would be most welcomed.

I can't believe Paul has surrendered to the "corporation as person" theory. He is a well educated on the Constitution and history. In the beginning of this country, corporations were well regulated; the government and the people knew what a threat they could be. I can't believe Ron Paul would surrender to the modern view as you described.

Everyone should see the documentary, "The Corporation". It explains from both sides (right and left) the pitfalls and benefits of corporations. In the end, you get to the fact that they have been granted excessive freedom and rights for them have been expanded, far beyond the the narrow view they now have of the individual rights of ordinary citizens. They also give a history of the legal precedents which led to corporations having excessive power today.

God Bless You!

I have been a Ron Paul supporter for many years and I have a tremendous respect for him and all he has done to try to wake up the country and educate Americans about the Constitution. At this point, I'm torn between supporting Reverend Chuck Baldwin (Constitution Party), who has consistently supported and endorsed Ron Paul throughout Ron Paul's presidential campaign, and writing in Ron Paul's name on the ballot.

However, with electronic (black box voting), I suspect that the election results will be rigged and 'Evil Thing One' or 'Evil Thing Two' will be declared a winner. Still I plan to vote my conscience just for the satisfaction of knowing I did the right thing by I making an informed choice and standing on principle.

(especially current medical situation). I'm very greatful to live here, there are many good useful people like YOU all!

Corporations are the people who run them. Individuals run corporations. Decisions are made by the individual people in the corporation not by the building or a fax machine. And those individuals need to be held accountable for their decisions.

I have seen zero evidence that Ron Paul plays favorites to corporations or that he believes individuals in tall buildings have more rights then individuals in private homes.

And what was so wrong with the Wild West? Was it less safe then being at an ATM in any downtown city today in America?

What do you mean "rational regulation"? Do you really believe such a thing exists? Each individual should regulate him/herself. Each of us should be responsible for ourself and pay the consequences when we are not. If you are so irresponsible as to not feed your children should food be taken from my children to feed yours? Many people would answer yes because they do not see the consequences of that. I know Ron Paul is well aware of the fact that Utopia is not one of our choices. We will never have a perfect world where all are fed, housed and given medical attention.

The last seven years are not free of enforced regulation. We have more regulation each year and each year it hurts the economy. First just a little regulation. Then we need just a little bit more to correct the mistakes in the first regulation. Then another law is needed to correct the correction and etc. Each time a regulation is written and enforced another one has to be written and enforced to correct mistakes in the previous legislation. It just expands and expands and expands until no one can understand it.

It is obvious to anyone paying attention that some Supreme Court Justices haven't a clue what it says. Most every elected official I know about hasn't a clue either. And law enforcement, they are the most ignorant and belligerent of the US Constitution. And of course the population needs to hear about the Constitution over and over again until it sinks in what it is about.

If the US Constitution was explained or taught in schools in America then students would know when listening to politicians and other government officials when they were deviating from it and promoting instead some kind of BS.

Sitting in a court room can really enlighten you to how totally ignorant are our DA's, cops and judges about the document they all swore to uphold after being elected. Clearly cops are as ignorant of the Constitution as biblicists are of the Bible. Amazing.

Sounds like both our countries need a shake up!

Our politicos are public servants - the job of any government should be to maintain the infrastructure - all the 'big ticket' items we need but cannot afford or obtain as individuals. Hospitals and health care, roads and law enforcement, education, power, water, communications and defense. By voting we part with a small portion of our power upon this earth so that they may represent our concerns.

If the labourer is not worthy of his hire.........why can't we sack him?

The best the Independents can hope for is to 'sell' their preferences to one of these two parties in exchange for support of their policies-then hope that party wins.
