If the allergy symptoms are stuffy nose, tight chest, difficulty breathing, or waking up with difficulty breathing after consuming dairy products, it's a true allergy and be careful of cross over allergies with dairy products from other animals such as goats milk.

I am truly allergic and hidden trace amounts of dairy cause me great difficulty for 1 -2 days after consuming, whether it's, cow, sheep or goat's milk cheese or butter. Look out for whey in ingredient lists. It's also a dairy product.

I won't advocate soy instead of anything. I've seen too many people diagnosed with IBS these days.

I was a vegan for 12 years. I ate a variety of beans, vegetables and fruits and some soy. Soy became more and more problematic as did the whole grains, barley malt and so on. I became so sick, and sicker until I had to put myself on an elimination diet to see what I was reacting too. My entire digestive tract has been permanently compormised and my choices have become very limited as a result.

My daughter was on soy base formula as and infant. She was so collicy all she did was scream. I couldn't nurse her due to RH factor and antibodies in my milk.

She had chronic ear infections and now has a hearing deficit. She also does not ovulate and will probably never have children, which she truly desires.

Soy is VERY Bad and it permiates our entire food source!

re: Why Tofu Wrecks Your Brain

I get tired of reading about how foods are 'bad' for you. It's one thing to call a food 'bad' because it is treated with chemical pesticides, genetically modified, or otherwise tampered with from its natural state, but to call a food 'bad' otherwise? - I don't buy it, and I even have problems with soy and can't eat it.

Eat this, don't eat that. Eat this PH, but avoid that one. Eat this fat, but not that fat - and in this ratio. Chew your food 35 times before swallowing - blah blah blah...it's getting old.

Fact is that God designed our bodies to digest everything He created, so if we can't digest a food that hasn't been genetically modified, or chemically treated, or otherwise tampered with, stop picking the food apart molecularly and look for another reason for its indigestability or other unwanted health effect - THE WIRELESS BOOM. Yep, you heard that right - the wireless boom!

Because the entire world is in love with their cell phones, I am unable to produce the needed enzymes to digest many foods - and not just soy. Google the Bioinitiative Report. I'd rather live without wireless technology, and even electricity, and be able to eat red meat, greasy french fries, lard, sugar, etc...than have to tip-toe around the garden trying to determine which food will be healthy for me today.

I rather like the edamame--steamed fresh soy beans--that are served in the US as appetizers or beer chasers in Asiatic restaurants and bars.. Hope they're not on the condemned list tho they certainly aren't fermented. Natto is not for me.

I didn't see the source of the research (not enough time), but apparently, if you have enough iodine soy is less of a problem. And who has enough iodine?

This may be why we have so many conflicting views here. I have hypothyroidism and did the iodine patch test yesterday. It has gone in 24 hours, when it should take 48 hours.

Obviously, vegetarianism is OK for some, and meat eating for others. Just observe your reactions and go with that.

re: Why Tofu Wrecks Your Brain

My choices as a vegetarian are getting to be fewer and fewer. I like the fakeburgers occasionally so I can somewhat fit in with others who are having a quick meal or a barbeque. I do avoid it in just about everything else. I buy expeller pressed oils, olive and safflower. I can only eat Rice Krispie type cereals, I look for organic-not sure I believe it totally-but it has 4 ingredients in it and makes me feel good to eat it.

I drank Silk three times in my life, for about a month, and had a horrendous -HORRENDOUS- menstrual episode.

(Stopped using Silk and returned to my regular human self instead of Mrs. Werewolf.)

I eat more fruits and veggies-unprocessed-than ever, but the pesticides scare me. What is one supposed to eat in winter, here in Maine, when the local farmers and such are closed? Anything in a can, bag or box is bad for you, even the so called "good" stuff.

I have managed to stop the cravings I had for 35 years for anything made of chocolate. I cant believe it but I actually dont crave that stuff anymore. I look at it rather thoughfully, as if I am contemplating its existence on the earthly plane, but I dont want it. My sugar intake is about 80 percent less than when I was a younger girl.

I have been a veg girl for 20 something years, and I dont want to start eating meats again. I never felt well as a child and teenager when I ate it, and now I just cant change my ways.

I am sorry that other vegetarians and vegans seem to attack meat eating people, I dont attack anyone over their choices. I have meat eaters all around me, in my family, all of my friends. We respect each others choices.

The ways of America just seem to be a great contradiction. We fight for freedoms than we turn around and forcibly take away from the masses their freedom to choose healthy ways of eating. We demand clean water and food for other nations than poison our own food supply. What the hell??
