In this video, master of time management Tim Ferris (author of the great book, The Four Hour Work Week ), demonstrates how easy it is to get the egg without having to peel it!
Today, my husband and I decided to try it.

We followed each and every direction but the egg remained inside the shell.

However, using the baking soda and ice water really did make it easy to peel.

Within mere seconds we peeled the eggs with very little effort.

So something good did come of this, but we really did want to see the egg fly out of the shell!

I have found in my own experience that it is sometimes easier to get off if you put a little water back in the pan after you shake them around...this way some water gets between the shell and the egg and makes it even easier to get off...

Good luck everyone...egg peeling is REALLY not that difficult!

My husband and I boiled the eggs (good organically raised home grown type) and followed all the instructions perfectly. When it came time to 'blow' the eggs out of their shells, we made the holes and blew as hard as possible (to the point of being light headed), but none of the 4 we tried would 'blow' out! We then let the eggs 'cool' for another 5 or so minutes and tried another egg but (sadly) to no avail! We also realized that to let the eggs 'sit' the extra time also apparently allowed the baking soda to change the texture of the boiled egg white. Unfortunately, the egg white became similar to the texture of cream of wheat! Yuk!! I don't know about the rest of you who have actually tried to do this....has anyone been successful?

Here's what I wanted to comment on. Do you people realize us, as humans, are essentially one big walking germ? Our intestines are composed of teams of helpful germs, that while they are in the stomach area, if they got out, Uh-Oh. Also, our very own mouths on a daily basis hold MILLIONS of germy little guys and gals. Not to mention the fact, our outer layer of skin, aka epidermis, is assaulted and comprimised on a multi-daily basis. All in all, we are a big walking germ. The human race itself could be looked at as a disease, as we are quite talented at destroying the very planet we inhabit. All in all I just wanted to say, germ-o-phobes out there, take a minute and consider, you may be destroying friends with your sprays and your solutions. IN all mathematical liklihood, you probably are taking out the possible hazardous ones. But just think, what if (hypothecitals are my favorite) you by chance, happen to take out the one bacteria that was meant to help you? Just the one that would save you from having a bout of the common cold. Sure, we all get the rhinovirus sometimes, but if you could have deflected just that once, would you? Lol, I would. I know I would.

Just think about that when the old lady with 5 cats brings over some deviled eggs to share at the neighborhood picnic. You just might get lucky and get the "Surprise Egg".
