These people pass me, while I calmly but steadily cruise towards a red light on virtually no or little gas and no break use while they waste quite a lot. Most gas is wasted during acceleration. And what does this attitude achieve? Nothing other than these people's frustrations over the do called "high gas prices", which are still half of what people pay in Europe by the way (so stop complaining, it's $8 per gal in EU!!). So when I cruise slowly towards the red light, by the time I arrive at the light, it turns green and I don't even have to stop and overall I am faster than the accelerate-break show off person who was trying to pass me 100m before a red light but then has stopped while I drive through.

Other tips:

- Buy a Diesel - most diesels get 40-60 Miles/gal.

- Buy a high milage car and stop supporting the big car companies with their huge trucks and SUVs.

- Motivate people to switch to GREEN cars and alternative energy.

Out of the tips in the above article, I would say really just pay attention to #1,2,6, and 8.

#5 and 10 are nonsense. Automatics should not be put in neutral when stopped, because it wears out the trannie and it wastes more gas than in drive (D) when stopped.

So by killing the driver and the driver's children, I guess your helping in the potential decrease of consumed fuel. HAHA. The answer is water power. I recently purchased and installed a water device on my car and I get about 25%-35% better milage. Eventually I want to convert my car to run 100% on water. Look up Stanley Meyer on youtube and check out www.watertogas.com. The devices are kind of expensive and could be replicated. I'm still working on perfecting my replicas of the simple device.

America is the most propagandized country on earth and just the effort to wade through all the good and bad suggestions is difficult enough. Just knowing that our White House is hilariously the residence of an incompetant Oil Man should make us all aware that we are not likely to hear any decent information from the Administration and also give a hint of who the propagandizers might be.

Many here, and fortunately for all of us, are trying to use humour and good common sense to deal with the problem that eats away at the proceeds of our labor (there is no income).

This is the heart of the matter. We never care how much anything is until it deteriorates our family resources and/or limits our freedom....Then our attention is raised. A previous poster that mentioned the drilling in ANWAR is on the right track. Didn't Thoreau say something about for every hundred that are thrashing at the branches there is one who is hacking at the root? Gas is not the root of the problem though, just a symptom of something we have neglected. Plato said... "The penalty for not being involved with politics is that you become governed by your inferiors". Many of us have never been to a Town Hall or City Council meeting, where the foundation of government lies. Gas prices are just a reminder that someting larger needs fixing. Ron Paul said when we go take over another country for it resources such as the oil, it devalues the dollar. Gas is not more expensive, it just takes more devalued dollars to buy it. Besides our government subsidizes the price of oil directly to the Oil Conglomerates with our tax money to keep the price of gas in our country artificially low. Otherwise it'd be $12 Like Africa

The article about Gas Saving Tips is more than most would have considered without seeing it but our situation is locked in until we start acting together as close to ONE as is possible and avoiding any indication that this is a house divided. That just encourages the profiteers.

actually, one can experience a 50% increase in fuel economy (at least I do) which ghosting behind semi-tractors with trailers (at a respectful one truck length back, which also gives 3-5 seconds response time if need be)

old car got 220 per 10 gallons (mostly highway); however, while ghosting 90% of the trip, I was able to gain 330 prior to filling back up. (repeated weekly, my commute is 1 hour away, one way)

new car (4DHB) 12 gallon tank, refills of 11 gallons, 450 miles per 11 gallons. was 320ish driving with no ghosting, no neutral coasting.

(I neutral coast as much as I can, hills, upcoming red lights, etc.)

vehicles like the Prius, but even those create an environmental burden to make & dispose of the batteries. Bio-diesel cars may be a better option.

In the meantime however, the costs of everything, besides gasoline, will continue to rise as the costs to raise food staples & ship them will still be higher than they should be. Our government, after all is tied to many people who are linked to big oil, big pharma, and those in the food & healthcare industries. None of those industries truely care about our struggle to pay for the basics we all need to live.

IT has noting to do with the price of oil from the ground but from the greed of those socialist govts.

The USA is nearing that as our politicians want to choke and strangle the poor people with insane energy conservation plans that just makes matters worse. Liberalism is truly a mental disorder, just look at what we are doing to ourselves.

HHO is hard to believe. Why? I just assembled one of the generators with a 2 quart container and it boils like a tea kettle and creates lots of explosive HO. I know because I blew the first one apart by placing a llit match at the end of the hose, big mistake, dont do it at home without a anti blow back valve in the generator line. After installing it in my '94 Ford Tempo that ususally gets av 30mpg, my mileage has dropped to 23 mpg. new plugs, new air filter, new oil and filter, new plug wires, etc. Its a scam !!!

If you are like me and live in a rural area, buy yourself a small rice box [old and used and cheap] and just suffer the gas prices, cause if ya paid cash for the ricebox, your transportation will be inexpensive. It may not be classy, flashy or able to burn rubber and haul a lot , but it will be affordable and the insurance will drop way down, tires are cheaper, parts are cheaper and ya can still buy FOOD. go for it.

Try to make an "emergency" stop bare feet, you'll probably hurt your foot and release the brake pedal out of pain. This is not only stupid, but plain dangerous.

Some tips are good, but some are just there to make the "100 list"

So here is my "expert" opinion too:

Drive Naked, you'll save about 2 pounds of cargo

Drive Shaved, you'll reduce the drag, especially if you have a convertible.

Only use you car downhill

Duct tape everything that can reduce your aerodynamics, especially doors, handles etc. Ask for assistance to duct tape the outside when you are inside the car.

And finally, remove from your car the parts that consume most of the gas, pay special attention to the engine.
