Manufactured by Cargill (in conjunction with Coca Cola )

This is a non-organic, manufactured and possibly a chemically processed product

originally starting with from Stevia leaves (the real thing). There is no

evidence, yet, that the finished product is healthy, or that it remains a

STEVIA-like product, with its original beneficial qualities intact.

qualityassurance.synthasite.com/truvia-sweetener---our-continuing-investigation.php

DO NOT CONFUSE REBIANA (TRUVIA) WITH STEVIA

Do not confuse this with pure stevia, it is a combination of chemicals with a dab of the stevia plant. Stevia itself is a sweetener and yet they are using Erythritol which is a sugar alcohol known to cause such things as bloating, diarrhea and cramps. That tells you they are not using much stevia. Nor are they removing the poisonous aspartame from Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi. They are simply trying to satisfy a part of the population that knows how deadly aspartame is and wants to use something else.

Notice this sentence: "Stevia was not approved as a food additive by U.S. regulators, but the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued letters to the companies on Wednesday saying it had no objections to their sweeteners, which are derived from the plant." The FDA has made themselves clear. Industry can do anything they please but they have no intention of approving something safe for the general public. They don't want to displease the aspartame industry who is powerful and takes care of those who defend their poison. Make sure you understand this is a combination of sweeteners and chemicals and not real stevia. The pop companies feel "a dab will do you, so just buy our product regardless of how its made". The public again will be the guinea pigs and lab rats. Also, see the admission that Pepsi's Purevia is being developed with Merisant, an aspartame manufacturer. Nobody should use these products until they are analyzed. Industry is constantly adding small amounts of aspartame because its addictive. If they do this to these products aspartame victims will react because aspartame is so poisonous it causes chemical hypersensitization.

It dies off every winter after flowering then comes back to life in late spring or early summer.

I add it to drinks as a sweetener and our children pick and eat it from the garden. It does taste slightly different to sugar and so may take a week or two to get used to but no negative side effects.

The only problem is that I developed heart palpitations during that time that had no discernable cause, medically. Head rush feelings. Heart beating funny and almost feeling like it was stopping, then starting up again, lethargy and just a sense that I should go to the ER...often. I am very diet conscious, having family members with serious food allergies and sensitivities, including myself.

I also happen to follow the blood type diet of Dr Peter D'Adamo and lo and behold, for my blood type, O non-secretor, stevia is an "avoid" food. I just never thought to look it up. I could have saved myself much fear and nine doctor visits and many invasive tests.

So sadly, I had to give away all my stevia. I haven't had a single incident since. So stevia is safe and I would recommend it to anyone. Except if you are blood type O and happen to be a non-secretor.

Sugar barely has ANY competition with other NATURAL sweeteners! I mean, besides sugar from fruit or that xylitol one. But trust me. If stevia were to get out, a natural low calorie sweetener, that might be the end of sugar and they are surely scared of that!

At farmer's market I strike up conversations with customers about the benefits of xylitol and how its name fooled me into thinking it was an artificial sweetener. My older dictionary says the word was around since the late 1800s! Surprise to me! Many people are becoming informed especially of the oral health benefits.

Stevia's best benefit is low calorie/carbohydrate. I rarely use it but will try the lemon usage to diminish the after taste.

It's outrageous for Cargill to be modifying yet something else in the name of "food".

First, stevia had always had a strange aftertaste which I found to be eliminated when adding lemon. Second, once I tried an organic stevia I found there was no unpleasant aftertaste.

I had tried quite a few stevia products which were not labeled as organic. Once I bought the bulk which was labeled as organic I was much happier to use it...
