yes slcbookworm True Hope was good we had used them when he was going off the drugs. But they do no test that is why you go to someone who gets inside your body and sees what is really going on, we have had so much luck with this, Lyme and Autism go together, this makes it worse to diagnose, I have been through to many test with a regular doctor and found nothing, I would like to go back to them and say why did you not do this or this. And the Lyme doctor I went to and spent $300 for nothing I told her more. then she knew. So when your children go to school and they look at you and think you are not doing anything and all they feed your children at school is junk. There the government is telling them what they should serve. It is all about the government, they don't care and rather you spend money on drugs then to do it the natural way. You need to find someone who does this kind of work. I found her and she is well know in Lyme too.Most parents who have these kids have to work to keep the up with the bills to survive ,so homeschooling is not a option, I tried and working but it kills the family life. And yes our government says no child is left behind, that is wrong...

The advice in this article should help but for children to receive real ongoing help there is another dimension to consider. Children brought up within a solid family with loving discipline and quality family time together and taught in the things of God, coupled with regular attendance at a loving and supportive Bible teaching Church, will usually not need restraint or other helps. I recognize that there are exceptions but as a general rule what I have said holds true. J. Edgar Hoover used to say that "Children brought up in the courts of the Lord seldom appear in the courts of the land". Well said! Thinker

WHERE is the love? None. When you suffocate kids and kill them because they go crazy, there's no love. Schools should be enriching, happy places where kids enjoy going. We don't need teachers trained in karate or suffocation methods, what the heck?

Maybe if kids ate healthier diets they wouldn't be so hyperactive and then authorities wouldn't have to result to these methods, which isn't to say that these methods are right, on the contrary, I believe them to be very wrong... But behaviour can be managed.

Two points:

1. Chia seeds are an excellent source of omega 3 fatty acids as well as calcium and fiber, without the hormonal disruption potential of flax seeds. You can use chia seeds in many cool ways such as stirring into yogurt, or making an easy fruit jam with them (fruit, water, sweetener, chia seeds, no cooking). They can also be used in baking. I like them in protein pancakes.

2. I homeschooled my child for kindergarten last year, and my not working literally bankrupted us. So off to work I go, and off to school she goes for first grade. Fortunately, she is looking forward to it. I never bad-talked school, thank goodness, even though I have plenty of bad thoughts about it. Did I mention I have a Master's in Education? Well, anyway, I plan on being in the classroom as much as possible on days off. I'm not sure what job I will have, but I will try for one with some days or hours off in the week. All you moms (or dads) who can't homeschool, try to at least hang out in the classroom fairly often, and at the very least go to those conferences even if you have to get time off work. A teacher is much less likely to be abusive to your child (or others) if they think you might be stepping in the door or walking past in the hallway any moment. Mean teachers tend to pick on kids they know don't have anyone to support or defend them. And even if you have a decent teacher, parent volunteers are usually a big help to have around.

I have been there and done that , I have a son who is 14, he was ADHD ,Lyme disease, and Aspergers.I must say grade school was bad, of course I was dumb and medicated him, until I realized what I was doing to him, the schools were hard to deal with. I took him out for 2 years and home schooled him. But he wanted to try to go back, he was made fun of , and did not have much instruction. But going to high school I will have more of a say, I started going to a good Nutriontist , who does hair analysis and electro dermo screening,then you know what is going on inside the body, this was the best thing I ever did, and yes food does make a difference in how you act and feel.We finally found out my son is allergic to sulfates, he was getting seizure activies and no one could explain why ,until I went to her. He has to watch processes foods and drinks.He is now taking Chlorella and this is really helped him. We don't see the reaction unless he really goes over board. I realize it is hard on the teachers. But I blame the government for this whole mess.My son had metals in his body and I am sure it is from the flouride treatments, baby shots and what he is around. I love Dr. Mercola's website , it has helped me in many ways. I have seen and heard what schools do to children that can't behave. All they need is the extra person to guide them and the school does not want to do it and the government shoud be helping since it is their fault.All i haeard was medicate him and they don't realize what I have gone through to get him where he is at today. No one is teling me what I should do with my child. thanks

Please all of you need to work in a classroom with all types of disabilities,get kicked, bitten, scratched and punched then you should comment. But until you do this you have knowledge of what it takes to handle a special education classroom. Please do not come in for a day do a school year and see.

The problem arises when so called special needs children are "mainstreamed". The teacher is not trained for this child. that is why there are "special ed" teachers.

The "regular" kids are shortchanged. The classroom is disrupted.

Separate out the special needs kids and give them a teacher who is trained for it. Separate the bright kids - who are the hope for the future, and let them learn unshackled by the weight of stupid teachers pulling them down.

Then have mainstream classes taught by qualified mainstream teachers for the majority of kids who are best served by that.

If you mainstream differently abled kids, it is a disaster for everyone, especially for those kids.

Yes, we have an education system, and it needs work..a lot of work. Please Please Please take your comments and ideas to local government. Let your voice be heard. I am a teacher in a public school system and it is amazing read what so many people have written about wanting a better education for their children. If enough of us speak out, do you think we can make a difference?

Special needs children cost the taxpayers too much? ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!!!! AUTISM IS NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE!!! Most familes end up losing EVERYTHING trying to help their child by paying for treatment themselves! Many have lost their homes, and the divorce rate for those of you who don't know is 85%! We pay taxes too, and unfortunately the insurance companies are allowed to openly discriminate against our children on a regular basis. EVERYONE deserves treatment!! If they can pay for smokers, drug addicts, etc, they should pay for these children! Has it ever occured to anyone if our kids got the treatment they need and deserve, that the need for special ed rooms might just go down considerably. If people want to home school fine, but it is not for everyone. Not all of us have a spouse providing for us and paying all the bills, not to mention children with autism need to be around other kids to learn how appropriate social skills, behaviours etc! NO ONE has the right to look down their nose at other people just because they may have advantages others don't. Don't judge until you have walked in that person/family's shoes!

As the mother of 2 children with autism, I firmly believe these children should be mainstreamed. Most of them do very will with proper guidance, and an informed teacher. I am not saying we should mainstream children who have severe autism, because in most cases that does not work. If our country would quit over vaccinating our children, we would not have the autism epidemic we have now. My boys were perfectly NORMAL until they had vaccines. BOTH of my boys developed symptoms of autism within

DAYS of being vaccinated! My older son developed symptoms with 24 HOURS of getting his MMR!

I stupidly listened to my pediatrician ( I now have a new one who is MUCH smarter!) and vaccinated his younger brother, and sure enough, he suffered the same symptoms within days of his vaccinations.

Thankfully , they are doing much better now as I have put them on a gluten and casein free diet. We also avoid all chemicals, dyes, sugars, etc. We also, will NOT vaccinate any more until they clean up the program in a massive way! This includes my two older girls. I am not against vaccines, but the current program in unsafe. Both of my boys are being mainstreamed and doing quite well. I really like the school they are in, and I have made it clear that if there is a problem, they are to call me and I will handle it. They know if they touch him, I can and will press charges! I feel for the teachers, but I feel for my child more!

My son was in the academically talented courses in grade school. These kids wrote operas, competed in national science fairs, inventors, story writing, and were musicians. Their teacher was specially educated and prepared to deal with these kids. The key thing here is THEY GOT IT THE FIRST TIME THE TEACHER PRESENTED THE SUBJECT. The principal of the school was formerly a teacher of impaired/challenged students, and she believed all students should be mainstreamed. So, she set about personally dismantling this program. Kids/students that GET IT should not be burdened with classmates that have catheters, need suctioning, have drains all over the place, in special wheelchairs, etc. IT DOES NOT HELP. So now, our school district does not acknowledge the academically talented students…too bad! What a wonderful thing to present to future parents and residents of a community…that kids that learn easily will be accommodated! I’m not all that bright (I think, most days) but I was one of the students that GOT IT on the first run. Then I had to sit there for 30 or more minutes while the teacher tried to get the rest of the class to understand. No fidgeting, no computers, no cell phones, no video games to distract us from the agony of the wait!

But wait! There’s More! In my childhood, the teacher was always right! And, the parents were called in to deal with their particular miscreants! Just imagine having a parent having to sit there to address the most intimate needs of their special-needs child! NO MORE BABYSITTING COURTESY OF THE STATE! You want them in regular class? They need special time??? Then you take care of it! The education will be provided, but the babysitting will be on the parent, not the school system! If your child cannot assimilate the lessons, they can be held back, or you can opt for a different school…that will NOT BE MAINSTREAMED!

Maybe this will help the schools get back on track! PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY!

Please, parents, get your children out of the government indoctrination camps and homeschool them.
