Depression was certainly highlighted as an ailment which is fully treatable with mind-body techniques. Unfortunately, EFT/MTT was *still* not mentioned. As an Advanced MTT Practitioner, I was disheartened by this. Apparently, Dr. Gordon either didn't follow up on your recommendation to investigate MTT, or only did so peripherally. I have to say that I think perhaps he is hesitant to add more to his holistic tool belt having already established himself and his protocol in a world-wide community. In any case, I continue to support MTT's wide usage and certainly have noticed (from use in my own practice) that it helps with depression.

I know from trying it and not trying it, time and time again. When I don't take it, I'm listless, anxious, escapist, empty. When I do take it, I'm upbeat, interested, active, get up and go. It seems to last two days, so many times I have neglected to take it each day. That's why I know: when I don't take it for two or more days, I start to droop, when I do, I'm normal. It's my medicine. I don't know why, but my body chemistry requires it. Whether the body chemistry is off due to emotional factors, having had many mercury amalgam (silver) tooth fillings, being a last-born. who knows? JUST TRY IT and you'll see for yourself. I've been using krill oil. I bought cod-livr oil with mercury removed and will let you know how it works. FISH OIL IS MY DESERT ISLAND supplement. (That, and ASTRAGALUS for the immune system - neithr I nor my daughter have been absent from work and school due to illness for THREE YEARS, since we started taking it at the onset or exposure to illness)

I have very little money, so it's difficult to buy extra things like supplements that will help, or programs like EFT.

I do know that exercise helps me quite a bit, and I like to jog and walk at a local park. It's been very rainy and humid lately, so I haven't been going as much, and my mood is suffering for it.

Another problem that a person with depression may have is an inability to absorb and utilize nutrients. You can be eating the most healthy, nutrient rich, organic foods and taking the best supplements, but if your body has trouble using the vitamins, minerals, etc. from these foods and supplements, then your body is starving for them. I came to this conclusion while doing research on alcoholism (which a friend of mine has problems with) and found out that consuming large amounts of alcohol will rob your body of important vitamins, minerals, and amino acids, especially the B vitamins which are so crucial in helping the alcohol addicted person to recover.

Digestive enzymes and probiotics can help with this. Actually, everyone should be taking these anyway, no matter if you have the best health or poor health. They can help in many ways, and probably most importantly will boost immune system, improving overall health. I like the Renew Life line of supplements, and also the Enzymatica line (which is a bit more expensive, but good). They both have websites, and you can buy them online at different health stores.

My depression, panic, anxiety, suicidial thought, no sleep was from low oxygen use by the brain cells. Zinc, coenzyme Q10, rhodiola, biotin, B vitamins, Mg all help the cells work better. Fish oil, evening primrose oil, lecithin, krill oil, phosphatidyl serine/DMAE all helped my brain work better and helped it function like it should. Dairy gave me seizures, learning disablities and depression so bad that no medicine could help. Yes, stress can cause depression in pyruloria (binds zinc and Vit B6) and bipolar kicking in. Excercise helps release endomorphins. Octaconsanol helps wake up brains of coma people. It helped wake up my brain when depression had slowed me down. If celiac were diagnosed and treated most depression could be avoided. You are born with it. Why should people only get counseling to try to fix a physical problem? I also had heavy metals and low thyroid that contributed to depression. I did EDTA/DMPS IV chelation which helped my brain tremendously in restoring it's function and unclogging arteries as it detoxed me. EFT to me is like New age... it works like crystals... Can it wipe out the genetic inheritance of celiac?

I've also had a bit of experience using E.F.T., and took a beginners' level training course a couple of years ago. I cannot vouchsafe for its effectiveness on deep issues, as I've not persisted with it long enough, but I feel it has a lot of promise, having seen a number of Dr. Gary Craig's testimonials on video. I've also experienced very positive results using this technique for short-term problems, such as leg/foot cramps, hiccups, and acute anxiety attacks.

More recently, I found I have lead-poisoning, likely from working on old houses over the years. So I will begin a regime of detox (EDTA and support). I hope to regain energy (chronic fatigue has also been a problem for many years), and am glad I have a diagnosis from a doctor who is not afraid to look into "alternative" therapies, vs. just writing prescriptions. Thanks be to our local compounding pharmacist who turned us onto this local practitioner.

For others with depression anxiety, it is a very rocky road at times, but I believe there are ways to manage it/heal from it which do not involve "conventional" pharmaceuticals. I'd also urge those of you searching for answers to consider a "heavy metals challenge test" (a six-hour urine test) to find out if lead, mercury, etc. may be a factor.

Thanks again for an informative article.
