In response to the above quote from the article, I say I would love it if life reflection would make me jump out of bed filled with passion and enthusiasm - most days I'm just able to make it out of bed and hobble.

People kept telling my Mom I would out grow it. Well 43 years and I still have not outgrown it. Worked at a McDonalds once, early shift for 2 years, was always burning my self, even after 2 years I could not adjust to morning. Left to my own devices my bed time is 1 am to 2 am, no matter what. I sleep 8 to 9 hours, good hard sleep. Husband says I sleep all the time cause I do not get up at 6 am. But he sleeps and I am up reading or something. Get tired naturally about 1:30 am and go to bed. My favorate work shift is 2 to 10pm. I am not working now, but I work out in the basement between 3 and 5 times a week. Always after 2pm when the energy says Hay lets of work out... I gave up years ago trying to change it.

I was having trouble losing weight - just needed to alter my sleeping patterns so I was getting my "Leptin sleep". I had reached a plateau and wasn't losing even though I was eating correctly. Getting prime Leptin sleep (10pm - 2am) resolved this issue and allowed me to drop 20 pounds quickly and get my BMI back under 25! I was surprised the first time I had my Leptin level checked at how high it was. It returned to normal as well with proper sleep.

Thanks again to Dr. M for telling us about Leptin - most docs don't have a clue what it is.

Knowing I snored and slept fitfully, I finally went through the sleep tests and got the 'snore machine'. My husband calls it my 'snorkel'. I didn't get the mask but the one that is a simple tube that fits right under the nose. I guessed correctly that the least obtrusive, and one that would let me sleep on my side, worked the best. Many find the "Darth Vader" mask annoying and can't sleep with it or even throw it off while they are asleep!

When I first used it, I slept longer than before. Then after about a week or so, my hours of sleep lessened as I awakened sooner. I felt much more rested and my thoughts less fuzzy. The overall symptoms of sleeping better are way too many to list here. Since we throw off toxins when we sleep [that's why we have to go to the bathroom whenever we wake up], you can imagine how a more efficient sleep is going to affect everything.

Without the machine, I wake myself up snoring. Frequently I woke up with weird panicked feelings and terror - I realize now that the interruption of air was doing this. After reading an obituary that a man died of a heart attack due to his sleep apnea, my interest immediately turned into making a doctor's appointment and getting the whole thing done.

The machine takes getting used to but the results are near-miraculous. My sinuses even are less clogged as air circulates all night - this must have an oxygenating affect and clears me up. I feel rested, clear-headed, and energetic - like a new person.

Sleep seemed to be a time of creativity for me. After waking I would return to deep sleep quite quickly though sometimes having difficulty recalling the amazing solution I had dreamt up.

Now I am retired & don't have these sorts of problems I sleep quite normally - normally for me that is since I am a very light sleeper & will wake up at distant noises such as birds or traffic or even changes in light pattern from neighbours houses - even the odd creak as the house cools down will wake me - but I have learnt to adapt to this. I use also a sleep mask to eliminate light though it iften slips off in sleep.

I cover my eyes lightly when I want to fall asleep. I could try the EFT if my mind is racing. Recently I demonstrated it to a group of people wanting to lose weight, using pictures from Dr. Mercola's no-grain carbohydrate-addiction book. Haven't had any reports back.
