Researchers gave nearly 3,500 patients a daily omega-3 pill derived from fish oils

re: Fish Oil is Better Than Drugs for Preventing Heart Failure

Just how dangerous is eating fish or taking fish oil that is not "molecularly distilled?" I hear this all the time from readers and magazine articles but I beg to differ. When I was in the service, I spent about 6 months in Okinawa and I had noticed how healthy the people there were. All of them had nice skin, full head of hair, lean, and overall very healthy, even the elderly looked good. They eat fish from the sea several times a week that supposedly has "high levels of mercury", yet they do not suffer from "mercury poisoning". Another interesting thing is that most of the population are heavy smokers but they still maintain their robust health and fish oil supplementation is also common. I had started eating at a local sushi place about 4 times a week after work and I had noticed in 3 weeks how nice my skin and hair looked. My energy was great, had lost some weight, and I was better able to deal with the high heat and humidity. I did this for the whole time I was there (did not have to worry about cost, it was cheap and affordable) and I did not have mercury poisoning or suffer from mild stroke. So, I'm not sure if getting too much Omega 3's is dangerous and I'm not too sure if eating fish from the sea that has "high levels of mercury" is dangerous either. I've made my own conclusion that the mercury levels in fish and non-molecularly distilled fish oil is much too microscopic to present any danger to human health.

Started making me feel better, ended up making me feel much worse. Now I take just one teaspoon of the norway fish oil, that is ok.

Has anyone read any of Dr. Broda Barnes' books? One specifically, "Solved: The Riddle of Heart Attacks"? He destroys the cholesterol theory, and then goes on to describe how hypothyroidism, which causes the deposition of mucopolysaccharides throughout the vascular system seems to be one of the main causes of atherosclerosis. In addition, he advocates the use of natural dessicated thyroid, and not the synthetics. Here is a man who has researched the thyroid for more than 52 years. Even if you take three steps forward, and fall two steps behind, you are still one step ahead, and after 52 years that is a great deal of knowledge.

The cholesterol theory needs to be buried along with the "statins", and many of the other drugs we use and replace them with natural foods and sensible exercise. Then we will truly be practicing "preventive medicine."
