The ratio of omega 3 to omega 6 I learned in Jack Challems book "The Inflammation Syndrome" and Loren Cordain, PH.D. "The Paleo Diet" , is the stuff that turned on the "light bulb" for me. What I changed is no; dairy, grains, sugar, legumes, etc; and started a diet of more green leafy vegetables, fruits, tree nuts, selective animal protien, etc; I have been on this diet about 6-7 months and the arthritis pain is gone everythink about my overall quality of health and life has improved. The thing that kickstarted the whole change is my 83 year old Prolothearpist/cardiologst, who is sadly retiring. Thanks for the forum.

It is not that simple to tell your employer to just give you the cash instead of insurance -- they will not comply. I even asked our union to try for a "cafeteria plan" whereby we could choose the benefits we need and will use up to a specified dollar amount and they said it would be "too difficult to implement and maintain." My employer gives full free medical benefits but I have to use their on-site medical services center (I work at a university) which do not include alternative care. This medical services center is the cause of almost all of my illnesses starting from the antibiotics they gave me like candy whenever I got a cold (I know now that it does not work for this) and pimples when in my 20s (I'm now 45). This progressed to ibd and colon issues which needed more medicine, and then autoimmune hemolytic anemia caused by the ibd medicine, and finally shingles, impetigo, catarracts, gallstones, weakened and deteriorating bones, muscles, joints, and weight gain caused by the prednisone for the anemia. I now use my health plan only as a consultant for tests and then make up my own mind about the treatment. Most times I tell the doctors "no" and do my own research online as to alternate solutions. I also refuse the vaccinations (flu, etc.) that they try to push on me each year. Unfortunately I'm one of those who just can't afford to pay out of pocket for a naturopath but I do my own research including reading Mercola.com. If I listened to the doctors, I would have had my spleen removed and would be on chemotherapy (no I do not have cancer) -- their solution to get me off the prednisone! I had to lose the gallbladder but I'm not giving up that spleen unless absolutely necessary! I'm reducing the prednisone now using alternative and natural solutions.

For those who have MS and are looking for possible solutions, I've been drinking this juice for 1.5 years and it's worked wonders for my problems (including autoimmune hemolytic anemia, ibd, complications from no gallbladder, etc.) and is helping me get off prednisone (finally) after 9 years on the poison. No, I do not have MS, but I do have a friend with MS and Scleroderma who drinks the same stuff and it works wonders for her. She can now eat and hold her food down and is back jogging when she was almost bedridden at one point. Anyone interested just email me at cpccat@hotmail.com and I'll give info.

However, DR KATE, regardless of the cost/profits of chemotherapy and drug companies, the cost for assessments, supplements, etc for alternative/natural doctors/practitioners is out of reach of even most middle class americans.

We need to look closely at health care plans proposed by our government. If government is going to be involved in the health care business, perhaps coverage should include alternative therapies and perhaps even certain supplements. A premium should be placed on preventative healthcare as opposed to treatment of symptoms.

While I hate to burst your bubble, the factory farming of pigs has actually made them more "unclean" and disease-ridden, tortured (their tails are snipped off with needle nose pliers type instruments, because they are under so much stress in their "living" conditions that they gnaw each other's tails, and are so apathetic, they won't try to stop another pig from gnawing their own tails), they are fed a corn and soy based diet (because they need to do something with the excess corn and soy that isn't used to manufacture processed "food"), are pumped full of antibiotics and growth hormones, and the list goes on. I'm not sure where you are getting your data, but you are fooling yourself. Google "Factory Pig Farms" and see what comes up. I also believe Natural News website archive has at least one article about this.

Come on people. If you don't agree with conventional medicine, why are you still using it? Tell your employer to stop paying for it and give you the money. This should put about another $1,000 per month in your budget for personal healthcare. By the way, the IRS allows tax deductions for expenditures on alternative medicine.

It does not belong to any one else. I spend a lot of money each year going to see a M.D. who does not take insurance, and I buy several thousand dollars of natural medicines not covered by insurance. Her medical knowledge and her recommended natural medicines saved my life a while back, and conventional medicine had no plan other than to do a liver transplant. I have never spent more on "holistic medicine than I would have spend on insurance premiums if I had insurance. Not only do I rely on natural medicine, I also rely on my the food I eat for good health. I have found that the healthiest food I can eat is mostly grown by me. We are on track to next year produce/grow/harvest a complete diet. We will be much closer when our young goats freshen and they give us our dairy needs. We raise our own grass fed meats and eggs now as well as our veggies. We grind grains into flour and corn meal for all of our breads. Our new goal is to raise all the feed stock for producing our own ethanol for meeting all our of fuel needs for transportation. The byproducts of the ethanol production will in turn give us more animal feed for growing a few for income. Folks, your health is your personal responsibility and the food you grow can be the best food you eat. You can grow some of your food if you have a sunny window sill. Growing sprouts is a great way to start raising your own food. Folks, your health is your personal responsibility and the food you grow can be the best food you eat. You can grow some of your food if you have a sunny window sill. Sprouts is a great way to start raising your own food. I assume that applies to animal health, also applies to human health. If the food is very healthy and has the perfect mix of minerals and vitamins, then animal which eat that food will be in perfect health too. It all starts with the soil, if the soil is healthy, and the right plants are on it, then the animals will be health too.

I do in-fact live in the fattest country, and so this country has alot to learn about itself. most homes have large back yards big enough for vege gardens, yet most will have nothing at all in them. I do believe that a healthy mind goes hand-in-hand with a healthy lifestyle of eating. if you freed your mind from fears, limiting decisions and beliefs, your life would be sooo much better. NLP and EFT are great models for freeing your mind. there is soo much information about eating healthy. just start by giving it a go and find what works for you and your budget. you can start as small as growing veges in pots if you do not have space for a garden. And i wish you all a happy healthy life. xxxx
