Eating dead animals is tantamount to putting diesel in a gasoline engine - not a good idea! Besides that, it's just plain rude. If I carefully and lovingly created a beautiful carving of an animal for my grandson, then he promptly smashed it to pieces, I'd be very upset. I wouldn't stop loving my grandson, of course, but I sure would be careful about what gifts I gave him in the future ... and about letting him play with my cat! Genesis 2:15. Bottom line: we don't need meat to function - it's a choice. But it's a selfish choice that involves killing for the sake of your stomach. Many people value their stomach's pleasure over the life of a living creation of God. Tsk tsk.

BTW, that's my opinion based on my own study and convictions. Argue if you wish, but I'll pretty much always take God's word over yours.

I have been taking a morning drink, which includes 1 heaping tablespoon of soy lecithin, for some years, and it seems to have helped me. Latest tests indicate that my arteries have substantially cleared, and a heart valve which was diagnosed to have been "coagulated" has also cleared. I agree that soy products are not good, and, with the exceptioin of the lecithin, I wouldn't touch it. My question is this.....does soy lecithin have all the same problems as other soy products?

Everyone Who Commented: Thanks for the stories and opinions!

Here's my evidence against soy:

As a little kid, I was given soy milk, soy lecithin bread spread, soy pudding, soy energy bars, soy ice cream, soy imitation cheese, soy hot dogs, and soy burgers. I can honestly say the stuff not only tastes gross, it makes one feel gross. No wonder I developed:

-Mental Illness throughout my childhood, causing disability by age sixteen (I've experienced full blown Social Anxitey Disorder, General Anxiety Disorder, Clinical Depression, and symptoms of Attention Deficit Disorder, Anorexia, and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.)

-Dysmenorrhea and insomnia within a couple months of first menses.

-Severe iron deficiency by age sixteen (measured with the serum Ferritin test.)

-Underweight my whole childhood, and into my early teens. Size zero isn't pretty or comfortable.

Now, at nineteen, I'm well into recovery. I haven't eaten soy for three years. Instead I've gobbled up butter, grass-fed beef, raw milk, kefir, coconut oil, and vegetables! Killing myself no longer feels attractive, I'm actually picking up the phone and talking when it rings, I'm a healthy size seven, and I'm falling asleep at night! All thanks to iron injections, Neuroscience INC. targeted amino acid supplements, bioidentical progesterone, a lot of prayer and love, my family, friends, Jesus, the Weston A. Price Foundation, and Dr. Mercola's health articles.

So there is hope, folks!

Just, please, if you are consuming modern soy products, STOP. Soy sucks.

I have been using coconut oil as per Dr. Mercola's recommendations, but keep hearing about how bad that is for you. I have read a lot of the research & trials & tend to think coconut oil is good for you. BTW: I am lactose intolerant, so have avoided most dairy except hard cheeses, butter, heavy & light cream & yogurt as these have little to no lactose & I have no problems with them. I also have a balanced pH (tested using pH test paper on saliva) despite the 1-3 cups of java daily & occassional cups of iced or hot tea. I have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (1st prob that occurred), Hypothyroidism (2nd prob. that occurred), followed by Type II Diabetes, or "Insulin Resistant". My cholesterol was always good: 140-164. I began taking Mercola's Whole-Food Multi-Vitamins, but apparently I missed the fact that it lacked calcium, which I discovered when my teeth started to look "dingy & dark" last January. I don't eat a whole lot of proteins, ie. meats, eggs, as I don't tolerate high protein concentrations (actually make me nauseated). Too many bread, rice or potato carbs make me tired. Suddenly my cholesterol jumped to 191 when I increased the dairy to make up for the calcium...not good, so started taking calcium tabs & decreased the dairy-have yet to get a lipid panel to see what effect that had. On the positive side I started avoiding fluoride, chlorine & eating as organically as possible, as per Mercola rec., & my thyroid started working again after 20 years. I have also been on Byetta & lost 65 lbs. I attributed my thyroid working again to the above avoidances, but endocrinologist says losing weight can make your thyroid work again. Have trouble reconciling this because hypothyroidism causes weight gain, so how can losing weight make it work again? Not sure, but not going to back to the same lifestyle as using an organic toothpaste, Auromere, got rid of the overnight bacteria build-up, plus I feel much better!

I do go by my body's natural instinct. I know that when I'm feeling tired and weak, more often than not it is because I need Meat. Preferably red and rare! All the beans in the world (with or without rice to make it a complete protein) does not compare to eating a good rare steak. Most of my meals consist of meat and plenty of vegetables with little grain/carbs. Meats energize me -- carbs (even beans/legumes) slow me down.

The only danger would be the genetically modified soy bean. The soybean is the only vegetable protein on the planet that contains all the amino acids to make up

a complete protein.

A region in Japan has the highest mortality rate in the word!!! They subsist on tofu as do the Asian Buddhist monks. Asians have a remarkably lower rates of colon cancer and other cancers compared to the Western counterparts. The soy warnings were created by the dairy industry!!!! Americans and Canadians have the world's highest obesity rates... no surprise!!

As in the whole soy story Kaylaa says soy without iodine can cause goiter. I was not using iodized salt and was eating soy meal replacement bars & in may 2003 developed a goiter, not so large as to have the thyroid removed but one side about the size of a walnut & the other a small egg. Since July 2003 the Dr says if it grows he wants to remove it. It has not changed & it was 2005 when i first found out about soy. My thyroid blood work says I am in normal range so do not need medication.
