The findings support the "hygiene hypothesis"

re: Friendly Bacteria Protect Against Type 1 Diabetes

Another very important theory about the development of type 1 diabetes is the consumption of milk from cows with the A1 gene. In Samoa where A2 milk in drunk the incidence of diabetes 1 is low, in New Zealand there is 10 times the incidence where A1 milk is drunk. You can cause diabetes in mice by giving them A1 milk and not with A2 milk. None of the mice fed A2 became diabetic but 47 per cent of those fed A1 became diabetic.

Why? A1 milk when digested breaks down into an opioid peptide beta-casomorphin7, this causes an autoimmune responce in the pancrease knocking our insulin producing cells.

Interestingly when a person has gut problems due to dysbiosis they are more likely to release peptide beta-casomorphin7 into the bloodstream because they dont break down casein protein properly. It crosses the blood grain barrier and is can cause autistic behaviour is vulnerable kids.

If you have gut issues and drink A2 milk this is not an issue because you break down the milk proteins into non problematic peptides.

For more on A2 milk look here - I highly recommend you read this book!

Sometimes, one of us would drop a piece of candy on the ground, and picking it up right away and "kissing it to God" and then we ate it as if nothing happened. (We didn't know about the "five second germ theory" at the time, but watched the older kids if they dropped a piece of candy and their response. Hey, they're older and wiser, they know the right thing to do.) This antiseptic-mad society is unhealthy in spite of the availability of health information.

CEM and others bring up important points about other things contributing to dis-ease.

Are potatoes just balls of sugar . She still has acne-not too bad - but at 26 one would have thought is had passed. Sleeps poorly vivid dreams prevent deep sleep. Anxious type. Suggestions?

The terrain is everything." We can never get rid of pathogens, they have a place in nature. They are nature's police, taking back to the soil the sick which are not deemed by nature to be fit to live. Just like our body destroys sick cells before they have a chance to reproduce.

To regular tea I add a "SCOBY" (symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast) If we understand that the immune system is in the gut and Intestinal tract, introducing this refreshing drink to your diet is a much nicer way to keep the good bacteria count up. Cheers!

New here, but I was wondering something. How did my youngest son (3 1/2 yo) get type 1 diabetes 2 years ago? He was breastfed til age 2 1/2, born at home, I never use antibacterial soaps and sprays in my home (mostly use natural cleaners such as vinegar), we try to use as little pre-packaged processed stuff as possible, etc. Yet, at the age of 16 mon. he went into ketoacidosis after what seemed to be some sort of viral infection, and was diagnosed with type 1. What went wrong?

Indeed if you do need an antibiotic for an illness there are an abundance of natural antibiotics available.such as Oregano Oil. Then there was just today an article in the NY Times about the natural first line of antibiotics, found on our tounges. For more information about the over use of antibiotics go to www.twnside.org.sg/title/overuse-cn.htm.
