David Pogue is the tech columnist for the NY Times and this was his most popular article ever. What you're gonna have to do is either run a program to overpass it (35 is being the most secure on most programs, I think a few programs you may have to pay for it over passing a number higher than that, and some are custom) to delete it or you are going to have to keep deleting more things in order to overwrite them. Some things can't be recovered after deleted them only once, it really depends. One time I deleted a program I wrote and I accidentally threw it out from the recycle bin and it was unrecoverable. A nice little trick you can do if you just want it gone and pass the recycle bin is press shift-right click and left click delete. It will ask if you want to confirm the file deletion, but this is only throwing it away, not "deleting" it. CCleaner works perfectly overwriting unneeded temp files and folders and cleaning out the internet cache and it is free. If you want to recover something, use Recuva (same company). This tip only works for Windows (as far as I know, I never really used a Mac long enough to tell).

Defragging could help after you delete them but I haven't really played around with it to actually tell a difference. If you want a good defragmentation program (Windows comes built with one), Defraggler is a good program of choice (made by the same company as the other 2 programs I listed). So good luck with this tip although a bit lengthy.

As I was typing this I pressed Windows + S and I thought I was shutting down my PC, but I was actually going into Stand By, I'm relieved. In order to Hibernate using the shutdown screen in Windows XP, you hold shift, but this only occurs if Hibernation is enabled and it changed Stand By to Hibernate. If your running Windows 7 Beta, Hibernation is enabled automatically, which occurs every 10 minutes or so.

I don't know about Safari on Mac. For instance, to go to http://www.yahoo.com, just type yahoo in the browser address bar and hit Ctrl+Enter. Note: this only works for addresses that end in ".com".

Another shortcut I didn't see here. In Windows XP, and probably Vista, although I don't have it, you can hit Windows+L to immediately lock the computer.

If you like Alt+Tab feature, search Google for the Windows power toys, there is an Alt+Tab replacement that will show you a preview of each application.

Ctrl+Shift+ arrow left or right will select entire words

You may think it's gone, but anything you have ever written - EVER - can be found again by those who know how.

#26. You cannot win in a lottery you have never entered. (Amazing how gullible people are).

As for #20, both Firefox and Safari have tabbed browsing. If IE doesn't, this would be a good time to use IE to download Firefox - and then dump IE. (Actually, I often have 2 browsers open at once).

Final thought: keyboard commands are always faster than drop-down menu commands. Use Command + c to copy, Command + v to paste, Command + s to save, etc. (Downside: these are a stretch on the MS keyboard, but an easy left-hand tap on the Mac).
