I've also heard from Gary Null, a friend of Dr. Mercola, and Dr. Templeman that Mangosteen Xanthones have the same properties as five of the leading Chemotherapy drugs. 5-Fuorouracil, Cisplatin, Mitoxantrone and Vincristine. Xanthone Garciniamangostin-L is suposed to case Apoptosis, which breaks up tumors.

I have tried Artemisinin (alone, not the new compund which is not yet available) in high doses, and have found it dramatically inicreased my liver enzymes way above the normal limits. I find that ingesting natural herbs or synthetic drugs and continuing to eat your "whattaburger" will not work. As Dr Mercola points out, any good cure has to be holistic and address your whole entity not only as a body but also as a mind and spirit.

Seaweed contains a lot of iodine and Japanese women who consume seaweed

have a very low incidence of breast cancer and likewise Japanese men who consume it have

a low incidence of prostate cancer. When there is ample iodine available breast tissue and

prostate tissue concentrate it in high levels.

It seems like the anti-cancer dietary modifications which work so well, raw fruits and vegetables,

eliminating sugar and refined starch etc.

( very alkalizing ), natural traditional herbs, have a common anti-fungal thread.

I wonder if people who have successfully treated themselves for Candida have a

significantly reduced rate of contracting cancer?

It will be interesting to see how much the medical community grabs on to Vitamin D. I have to accounts - I for and 1 against its use.

1. For - my niece was recently pregnant. Her doctor prescribed extra Vit D for her, and now for the infant who was born slightly premature (several issues I won't go into here). I have provided her with Dr Mercola's info and website for more information. So, it seems some part of our medical community is buying into Vit D at some level.

2. Several years ago, my sister had breast cancer. She has pulled through thankfully, but went through uncountable different types of treatments. But, as far as the Vit D, she was told NOT to take any (pretty much no supplements at all) during Chemotherapy because the doctor was concerned that the chemo drug would bond specifically to the Vit D and be rendered inactive. I could not believe this attitude, but that's how it went.

One of the most important things lacking in our diet is iodine. The thyroid gland, breast, ovary, and prostate require the most iodine in the body to function optimally, also that is where iodine is stored in the body. When they don't have adequate iodine malfunction occurs resulting in hyper/ hypothyroidism, cancer, cysts, and various other ailments. I would like to see Dr. Mercola research this. Look at the iodine levels in Japan and at ours in the US. When we changed our RDA in the 1940-1950s the rate of those cancers began climbing.

I also find this whole article + comments by Mercola confusing for several reasons.

The use of the "cancer genes" expression is confusing, after all, genes express themselves in one or other way depending on so many things (emotions, toxicity, etc).

The positive thinking theory is also confusing. Positive thinking as it is being sold, does not work. One can not just possitive think when one's unconscious is full of pain and missery. tHE ONLY WAY TO BE POSSITIVE IS BY HEALING and that;'s easier said than done.

Then, there is not much sense in talking about cancer killing. I TOTALLY agree with the prevention side of it but once cancer is developed the tumors have to be open, the body has to detoxify all that toxicity from inside the tumors and finally the cancer process has to be reversed.

Speaking about "cancer genes" is very dangerous and disempowering.

Positive thinking theories are disempowering. With a clean consciousness, clean of missery and suffering from the past there is no need to possitive think. POsitive thinking is a controlling concept, where the conscious mind imposes on the unconscious, instead of listening and healing what is there. What we call negative thinking is not just a habit. It has deeper roots that need to be unrooted, otherwise it is an eternal fight between the consciousmind and the unconscious. IT DOES NOT WORK.

i find your comments Dr Mercola, interesting as always. However, i do not understand your reference to 'cancer genes' ? This is based on a previous article about cancer being a fungus & Dr. Simoncinni's work, which seems completely viable to me & makes so much sense. Having studied & researched such subjects for a long time, re: diet, health & wellbeing AND candida, it makes perfect sense cancer IS a fungus!

The western world is conducive to creating an environment in the body where candida (fungus) will eventually

emerge & spread. Continuing to eat, drink & live the way we do, excacerbates this condition. For cancer to grow & spread it needs an environment that is, ACIDIC, LACKING IN OXYGEN with a constant supply of SUGAR in all its forms, to keep it alive & thriving. So, shouldnt this be included in ALL your references about cancer?

If a fungus, which I believe it is, then keeping the body in check, in balance, with good & bad bacteria in perfect ratio, with oxygen & without sugar, more alkaline than acid, would prevent your bad bacteria & the candida albicans from taking over & beginning to damage your body. Altering cells & turning them in to fungicidal tumours, spreading to organs & the blood - known globally as cancer!?

This means 'cancer' is a RESULT of a body being out of its natural balance, fuelled by todays harmful diet. I dont mean to simplify this 'disease' BUT it can be prevented & cured (according to Dr Simoncinni) with bicarbonate of soda!!! This IS A REVELATION!!! if fact, then I think you should be highlighting it at every opportunity, in every article & reference about cancer & the so called cancer 'drugs'!

Yet, there is no mention of this in your comments about the article? If cancer is a fungus, there is no going back! Other doctors & professionals must know this too & are keeping quiet? Artimesia, of which there are several types, is known as wormwood. I use it as an anti-parasitic. It is also used for moxibustion and used to be the active ingredient in absinth (now illegal). It seems the ancient recipe for using it, discovered in an archeological dig in the '70's in China, was for malaria, for which it excells. As I always say, the history of herbs is the history of mankind. I think they probably simply eat it and make a drink of it as you would for worms. Traditional Chinese Medicine is way ahead of western medicine. They have 1000's of years to back it up. The best way to lower your risk for cancer, heart disease, obesity and any of the other western diseases is to eat like the traditional Chinese still do. Keep your animal protein to less than 10% of your daily diet. Animal protein should be a side dish, not the main dish like it is here in the US. Read the China Study to understand why it works.
