Very few treatments are an "unmitigated" good. I have had CRPS since 2006, and the fact that narcotics occasionally supply some euphoria is a plus for me. Try being in moderate-to-severe pain for three years, and then explain to this patient-group how undesirable "false" joy is. The worst side effects in my experience have been from the Federally mandated NSAIDS in my meds- and NSAIDS are essentially useless for CRPS. I was also prescribed Vioxx a few years ago, post-surgically. Fortunately I rebelled at the $3/tab price, and took aspirin instead. Virtually all narcotics are old-line (cheap) drugs, so of course anything new is "better." And no, I don't feel guilty because some weak-willed loser takes the identical substance for fun: I guarantee he won't getting mine.

WOW! This stuff is for real! My current pain regimen uses DLPA 500mg X 2, thrice daily, each (1g) dose accompanied by one 100mg capsule of Lyrica. THAT'S IT! And I occaisionally forget my afternoon or late-night dose. I have also been able to re-grow the nerves which were strangled in the first place, dosing with sub-lingual Methylcobalamin (2 X 5000mcg lozenges) and administering electrical stimulation via a devise called "The Rebuilder".

Hypothetically, my problems arose because of absolutely atrocious ergonomics at my home computer work station, causing, in particular, long-term (4 to 5 weeks) cramping of the muscles of my right shoulder, upper back and right-side of my neck. Specifically, spasm of the middle scalene muscle caused a constriction of the inter-scalene gap (also known as the throracic outlet), partially compressing the C5 nerve root and shutting down axonal transport of nutrients to some motor nerves and some sensory nerves. I have re-innervated the wrist and finger flexor muscles and the supinator, though I have suffered some atrophy, some tendon contractures, and prob'ly adhesions in the shoulder from a protracted period of disuse, though I've had great support and encouragement from my PT and my OT. I also learned a lot at the UBPN (United Brachial Plexus Network) Forum Boards. Pain concerns take a high priority among brachial plexus injured folf.

Thanks for your att'n.

Hypericum (St. Johns wort) is fast acting for nerve damage, example -- closing a door on the fingers.

Arsenicum Album is most often called for to relieve cancer pain, esp. pancreatic cancer pain. It is also often used in end of life pain. Other end of life medicines are Aconite for those who fear death -- either their own or fear their loved one's death. Carbo Veg is for oxygen starvation.

I recently had very bad back pain and was told to get back surgery by 2 Dr.s I nearly did it as I couldn't walk for over 8 months. Agony. Severe painkillers aside I finally found the relief:

A great combination pill supersciaticarelief, I don't sell this but it did work for me - it contains boswellia aka frankinscence, valerian, bromelain, devils claw. Pancreatin is also helpful when taken away from food. this in combination with an acupressure pad that hurts for 5 mkinutesand then relieves pain, this may take a while, I had to do it for 3 weeks 24/7, even though the article says only 20 minutes. But stick wiht it and you'll be helped. this works on muscle nad lligament injuries, the herbs will work for internal pains and arthritis too. One needs to avoid pian creating situations: stress, foods, coffe etc, that are inflammatory. And eat foods that are anti inflammatory eg fatty fish, nuts ,seeds, turmeric, garlic....

The acupressure pad cost me 15 Uk Pound and is available from easycure.org in England, more expensive versions are available but here's the best price.

Kind regards,

But pain is a signal that something in the body is amiss. It seems to me that to mask the symptom without addressing the cause is irresponsible and could potentially lead to more harm. Think, for example, of athletes playing through an injury.

It seems that anything with advantages comes with the option for abuse. I'll bet that's what Kelly Eidem meant the other day! Kelly, are you there? Yes, I can relate now!
