Thanks all you members for all the great information on water filters. I wish I were rich just so I could get that alkaline filter for my whole house. Isn't it a shame that we have to pay such a high price for all things that are good for us? Especially since they were all originally given from God, but all changed for the greed mongers, get rich quick schemes. Because of those jerks we have to refer to researchers like dear Dr. Mercola who keeps us updated on all the corrupted products we deceptively consume.

What is more is that this product is light and can be taken camping. In a recent trip to Colorado, we took local, untreated lake water and ran it through our Berkey for some of the best water I've ever had. And we didn't have to worry about parasites, bacteria or cysts, because the Berkey removes them all...

Typical sediment stage and 2 charcoal stages, one set of filters lasts a year and costs less then $100 to replace. It makes a noticable difference in the taste of my water. Coffee is better ect ect and I don't buy any bottled water. I'd recommend it.

I saw a alkaline water system recommended by/at greensmoothiegirl.com

I understand that R/O systems remove 99.9% of disovled solids (minerals whatnot) in water which...well...over cleans the water. To remove all contaminants you need to "throw the baby out with the bath water".

The studies I have seen have measured/tested bottled PURIFIED DRINKING WATER and not bottled SPRING WATER. For example they measured Sam's Choice PURIFIED DRINKING WATER. They concluded and found that this water was no different than tap water. They actually traced the source of this water back to its origin and found that it was actually minimally-treated tap water from the Las Vegas municipal (tap) water. So, yes, it is no different than tap water BECAUSE IT IS TAP WATER! The bottled water market is dominated by these "Purified Water" products. Aquafina (Pepsi co.) and Dasani (Coca Cola Co.) have a strong presence. It is quite possible that these products are also minimally- treated tap water. In England there was quite a controversy about the purity of Aquafina and recently news programs in California have also exposed this scam of "purified water." It should be stated that these products are PURIFIED DRINKING WATER and not bottled SPRING WATER. The study did not test ANY kinds of spring water. It seems that because of studies such as this, people now have this idea that all "Bottled Water" is the same. Until Spring Water is tested with the same scrutiny, I believe it would be premature to come to the conclusion that bottled water in general is not healthy (or beneficial). I also have heard that waters bottled in NUMBER 1 recyclable materials are not usually a suspect in terms of leaching harmful chemicals, namely Bisphenol. Plastic number 1, Polyethylene Terephthalate (PETE) has the least risk of leaching according to a study in Canada. The softer plastics pose a higher risk. I would like to see more studies. Dr Masaru Emoto's pioneering work with water found that the chemical structure of water can be changed dramatically by either praying or speaking positive words over water. A group of people cleaned a toxic lake by praying next to it.

I drink bottled spring water as the crap our city calls drinking water is awful! It is full of chlorine, flouride, and who knows what other pollutants. Since our water source literally comes from a local river, when it rains heavy, especially heavy for several days, the water tastes like river water and then it is even more heavily chlorinated for the next week! Blech!

Since I only drink water and an occasional orange or grape juice (which I buy concentrated and add the spring water to it), I am sticking to my wonderfully fresh and tasy bottled Spring water! It has an amazingly clear taste and I love it. I cannot tolerate bottled drinking water. One of the worst is Aquafina as it has a distinctly metallic taste that leaves an awful after taste behind.

I drink Ice Mountain which comes from CO (I looked up their website) and it is fresh and good. I have tried many different waters, including spring waters that come from PA or MI and they are not as tasty or refreshing.

No! I do not work for nor am I affiliated with any bottled water company or beverage company. I am just a water-drinker who prefers the taste of spring water. IF it came in glass bottles with a closeable top I'd probably love it even more, but it does not, so I will have to continue to purchase what I drink from the store and be happy with it.

And I am very tired of hearing about how water bottles are filling up landfills. What about the colas people drink? These do not fill up landfills? I would recycle my bottles if it were possible, but in my state it is not easily done.

I also purchase another brand of water in a heftier and safer bottle and reuse (after cleaning well every night) each bottle for a week or from a gallon jug so that I am saving money. Been doing this for over 5 years and no problems.
