NOTHING. thats what. Handouts to anyone, the little guy or the giant company is interference from government that should not be within the governments scope to give. The government is at best a neccessary evil that exists solely to protect the people from invasion. Individual problems should stay individual problems.

Even McCain gave warning of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac (according to what I found) back when something could have been done about it. See if you can find who made money off of it as well. See if you can find who ridiculed anyone who said these organizations were in trouble and needed reform. It is not like I believe Bush is without his faults. I actually believe that our whole system needs reform. Money plays too big a part in politics. I just think that blame should be placed where it belongs, not on a scape goat.

Government created inflation and government gets richer through inflation. Inflation is also the result of bad laws passed by congress. In 1970 there were 70 million people in the workforce and enough money in circulation to pay there salaries 80% men and 20 % women ,then in 1972 women burnt their bra's and enter the workforce,by 1983 the workforce double to 135 million people . This increase was all women ,so the mint had to produce more money to pay these new salaries, this is inflation. In 1974 the price of a home started to go up, because of a law passed by congress. The law dealt with how a bank handle mortgages , they started using women's salaries when figuring a mortgage, from1974 to 1980 the price of a home quadruple and have going up since then. The same with a car, before 1970 the average family own one car, no inflation, after women enter the workforce ,now they had the money to buy their own car, and the price of a car went up and up and up. This is INFLATION.

In the 2000's we experienced the housing boom and bust. The next boom to bust should be the medical reimbursement bust when employers decide to stop paying for health insurance. This shouldn't be bad news for the readers of this web site because they already know how to take care of themselves without health insurance. It's time to go back to the basics once again where we can all live a normal healthy life without market speculation.

A fiat currency system will always implode at some point.

The cure is easy though not without pain and suffering: (A) The federal gov't must declare bankruptcy -- not to liquidate but rather to reorganize the debt. (B) We must demand that Congress END THE FED! (http://endthefed.us). Call, mail, email, fax your senators and representative and tell them to pass HR 2755 introduced by Rep. Ron Paul. And demand a gold and silver backed currency as the U.S. Constitution demands (See US Const Art I, Sec 8 and 10). (C) A Bretton Woods type conference must be called by the federal government with the other economic powerhouses (China, Russia, the EU, India) to negotiate an exchange rate.

Don't expect to see this go down without bloodshed and probably the Second American Revolution, however. The international banking mafia is not going to die easy. But they must be taken out of power.

re: Is the U.S. Headed for Hyperinflation?

If everyone receives $1,000,000 checks from the government tomorrow, prices for goods would quickly adjust upward and no one would be the richer.

Of course those who ran out and spent it first would benefit from using their money before the prices rose.

Those who weren't so quick, or decided to save their money, would watch the value of their million, in terms of what it is exchangeable for on the market, rapidly decline.

This is inflation. Governments and their contractors get the "new" money and use it in the "old" economy. As it spreads, prices rise, which means that those who don't get early benefit of the new money watch the value of their savings and paychecks decline.

Check out the Zimbabwe link. The government is handing out bills to its citizens denominated in HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OF ZIMBABWE DOLLARS. Wow! Everyone's rich!

Yet I don't see everyone rushing to immigrate to Zimbabwe because there you can become a billionaire overnight.

It doesn't matter if you earn $1 a week, as long as your rent is $1 a month and all other prices are correspondingly low, then $52 a year is just fine.

Prices will always rise with government fiat currency because the government cannot resist printing up free money and using it. This inflation taxes away your savings. A day's wages put aside as savings in 1908 would be worth 15 minutes worth of wages today. This is a 97% taxation (robbery) of your property.

Today's economists say a little bit of inflation is good. This is not unlike claiming that a little bit of mercury in your system is good. The truth is that it is always bad, but if no one is really paying attention because the outward effects are subtle enough...

The coming world inflation will be anything but subtle, so now is the time to dump these funny little paper products and reinvest in things that have market values that do not depend upon a government declaration of value.

An ounce of gold saved away in 1908 was worth $20.67. What's it worth today?

It is really an instrument of debt. If the entire U.S. Gov't debt were to be paid off then all the money in circulation would disappear. The only way to safely store wealth is by putting your dollar assets in to gold or silver coin or other tangible commodities of your choice.

If you want to learn everything you will ever need to know about what we call money then "Money, Ye shall have honest weights and measures", Authored by James Ewart, is a must read. Go to: www.principiapub.com/POrder.html to order the book. It costs $99.95 but is the best investment you will ever make. I do not and will not profit from any copies bought by you. What is more valuable today: a solid gold German mark or a paper mark from1923 ? Nuff said.

Grains and basic food items store best, and if you are interested in how to accomplish it, the best people to consult are the Latter Day Saints. Google LDS and Food storage and you will have more information than you need.

Pay off variable rate debt. If you can't pay off variable rate debt, then at least protect your home. Fixed rate mortgage, if you have a credit line on your house (variable rate) pay it off, and don't use it. If you have to default on something, make it your credit cards - it's unlikely you will have your house seized for non payment on a credit card.

If you are in the happy position of not having to worry about the above, then work at reducing the costs of everyday living... Smaller car, insulate your home, reduce the electricity load, acquire alternative means of heating areas of your home (especially if you have high square footage). Kerosene, believe it or not (internet literature can be very negative on kero), is perfectly safe if handled properly, and can store for a couple of years.

Unfortunately, these things can't be done overnight and it may already be too late. The sooner you start, the farther you will get. Good Luck to everyone that tries.
