In Dr Mercola's comments he posed the question, "who is looking out for our children". Well, I know there is quite a lot of very helpful information about what to do if you're told to put a child on a psychotropic drug (like Ritalin) on the website: www.cchr.org (Citizens Commission on Human Rights) It's also for parents or anyone who is told they must use a psychotropic drug. I've helped many children who have so-called "ADHD" go a different direction with good nutrition, omitting sugar, food coloring, and foods they're sensitive to and so on. But as AZhiker said above a huge percent of these children are found to have high IQs. So do we really want to "dumb-down" our next generation of genius's, inventors, scientists, artists, musicians with a drug like Ritalin, chemically on par with heroin? It would be insane.

My neice was advised to put her 8 year old daughter on ritalyn two years ago due to behavior problems in school and at home. She witnessed her father abuse her mother many times, putting marks on her. My neice left several times but went back because the state had refused to deny the father visiting rights and she was concerned about her daughter being alone with him. One day he "lost it" and put marks on both of them at the same time. The little girl was protecting her mom. She was able to get a restraining order and was able to leave. This caused so much trauma in the girl and she was quickly labeled ADHD and started the medication. I kept sending my neice information and talking to her about her decision. She started counseling, got involved in gymnastics, and provided a good, stable environment with healthy boundaries, and she takes some omega supplements. As of about a month ago, she is completely off the medication (with the approval of the doctor) because she has improved so much. Much is due to her not being in the environment she was in. It did take time and lots of work at getting her to feel safe and to overcome her fears and anxieties. This has made a world of difference and you would not believe she is the same little girl. She is doing wonderful in school, and is acting like a normal 10 year old. The drugs "looked" like they helped because she was no longer interrupting in class, her grades improved and she was much easier to deal with. But, the side affects were awful. She lost lots of weight because she had no appetite and it really affected her ability to sleep. I am so thankful that my neice has found a better way than drugs to get her daughter through this difficult time in her life. I agree with Dr. Mercola, that lots of love, a good diet and supplements are the best way to go,

After dealing with severe behavioral problems in many, many foster children in our home, we've had excellent results with EFT, organic home-grown food from our farm, proper supplementation, intensive attachment therapy, and no-nonsense parenting. We call our style of parenting putting a child with no boundaries in a steel box with a velvet lining. Several of these children are now our adopted children and are positive contributors to our family and community. They CAN heal without drugs!!!

I am a fosterparent that cares for children with psychiatric diorders and they are usually on one to four of these medications. I am sure that there are children that do have severe disorders that reqires medications but what I have experience is that my foster chilldren recieved poor parenting were neglected and abused and as a results acted out severly. The therapist keeps them medicated to control their behaviors and the side effects are terrible. My heart hurts for our kids.I am sure that there can be other appraoch to their therapy that is more natural but this is quicker fix with a very bad outcome.

A very disturbing subject indeed. How parents can trust doctors to prescribe these types of drugs to their children is beyond my comprehension. These drugs have terrible side effects on adults, do they think their children will be exempt from that?

If anything, parents should start by looking at their childrens eating habits and start eliminating all the processed and food additive dangers. This would make a tremendous difference in their kids behavior. Another thing is to spend more time with their kids, get them active! It would do the kids and the parents good. Just use common sense!

As for these people who are in bed with the Devil...well, God have Mercy on their Souls!

I think the three Harvard experts should have taken a walk down the hallway to see Dr. William Popper. He has had so much success with empowerplus (the cure for bi-polar, yes FDA I said cure. What else can you call it with an 80% success rate?), that he is able to see new patients.

All these politicians always claim they want what's best for everyone's children and abhor crimes against children. Here you have this going on and no one even brings it up. That, or they're sell outs to Pharma. Crimes against children aren't just limited to child pornography, trafficking, and child abuse anymore. Organizations like Pharma get away with it legally and everyone makes sure they're well protected. Not just one child, or even a thousand children but millions of kids around the world.
