It's great and very brave what Dr Miller is saying about the flu shot, but his "User Friendly Vaccination Schedule”? That is an oxymoron (like "medical science"). As Dr James Shannon said, "The only wholly safe vaccine is a vaccine that is never used". "User Friendly Vaccination Schedule” means "User Friendly Poison Schedule”, which is just absurd. There is no scientific evidence that these injected poisons benefit the health of anyone, there is only evidence to the contrary. Vaccination is well documented to SENSITISE the immune system. Sensitisation means the OPPOSITE of immunisation. These doctors are just so conditioned to assume that vaccines are effective (and that the dangers are only due to a few ingredients such as thiomersal, not due at all to the rest and to the invasive procedure), that they just can't let go of vaccination, even though unvaccinated children have repeatedly been demonstrated to be so much healthier. Glad to see more doctors are speaking out. I too fear for people's safety who speak back to the $$$ that control everything. Greed is a powerful thing in this world.

About 15 years ago I got my first flu shot in October, on the encouragement of my parents. In December of that same year I contracted influenza, ran a fever of 103 for a couple of days and was weak and in bed for a week. That is the first and last time I received a flu vaccine. It made me feel ill for a few days after the injection too. Flu shots are bull.

I am most surprised in the expansion that Big Pharma has created lately this year. PBS/NPR seems to have sold out to them. I am sorely disappointed, as I used to rely on them for honest news. There is the NPR radio show host who did a show promoting vaccines in children and has been linked with payoffs from pharmaceutical companies. Then after that I have since heard at least two commentaries about the need for vaccines for different illnesses and the greater good they provide. One was about college students in Wisconsin and the campus promotions for all students to get vaccinated. It was disgusting to listen to and I am very disillusioned with NPR at this point. Does anybody know of an honest radio broadcasting network I can switch to so I can avoid this blantant pharmceutical advertising? I need to write to NPR about my disgust with these stories/commentaries.

My doctor asked me if I wanted to take the flu shot while I was there for my routine thyroid check-up. I explained to him that I don't take vaccinations and proceeded to ask him if he had any idea what was in the vaccines. He just gave me a blank stare and so I told him that they were FULL of toxic substances, (sadly I'd forgotten to bring my slip of paper where I'd written down all the ingredients), and I added that there was no way I was going to put those poisons in my system. He didn't say a word for a minute then said that he had to send a lot of his patients to the hospital with the flu and that he'd just taken a flu shot himself that morning. I told him that was a shame but then after all, he was a doctor and following protocol, whereas I didn't have to!

This doctor knows my position and I frankly don't know why he still sees me because I'm anti-everything when it comes to vaccines and drugs. But at least I was honest and told him if he'd rather not have me as a patient, then that was fine, I would understand, but I wasn't going to change my position. He's still seeing me twice a year to prescribe Armour Thyroid which is from a natural substance and made in this country so I feel that even though he's a General Practitioner, I'm able to see a doctor without being coerced into taking legalized drugs and vaccinations. How long this arrangement will last is hard to say, but I keep waiting for the doctor to get annoyed with my constant negative come-backs relating to conventional medicine. I'll let you all know if he eventually kicks me out of his office in disgust!

I think vitiam D drops are best to take.....I recently purchased some vitiam D drops 1 drop is 1000 mg. I'm taking 2 drops right now but will be increasing my dosage now that winter is here.....I think the drops are better cuz some vitiam D supplements have lead in them.

I checked one of the articles that shows that "vaccinating young children against the flu had no impact on flu-related hospitalizations or doctor visits during two recent flu seasons" Actually, these past two flu seasons had strains that were not optimally matched to the strand occuring in nature. I think there has been strong evidence that IF the strains are matched, there is a very good short term reduction in occurrance of the flu. So, it is a gamble, but one with pretty bad odds. I am along the lines of Mercola in that I think a healthy lifestyle will help to prevent the flu, or at least decrease the severity. But, I think that there is a consensus in journal articles that the correct strain matching does prvide for a good, short-term immunity.

Also, alot of people are threatened by those who speak out against vaccination because they HONESTLY believe that it is necessary and will save lives. These people are ignorant, not necessarily cruel or mean spirited. The two viewpoints cannot be reconciled as the are diamtrically opposed. Our doctor is honest with us about the vaccinations and made sure to give us a choice, but many doctors BELIEVE that they would be endangering their patients by not recommending the vaccinations. There is a problem of education -- or lack thereof -- in the field of medicine. People hear portions of the facts and take what they would like to hear, or what big pharm would like the to hear, and take it as fact. For example, if a clean, clinical trial shows that a matched strain vaccination DOES reduce the risk (could be 2% more than placebo) people hear that ALL vaccinations work, and are told that by others.

I think it is OUR burden to educate without preaching. I think that living a healthy lifestyle and calmly explaining our viewpoints without attacking or getting defensive will help to change people's views.

But what about kids? No matter what doctor I talk to, they avoid advising on some supplements for small children. The same with fish oil.

kittycat7, Ohio has 3 exemptions, medical, religious and philisophical. I dont know if a private business can mandate something that is counter to state law. You dont need to give a reason in Ohio. try searching ohio law.

While vitamin D might help at prevention most of us on this site know that olive leaf extract is one of the many natural cures but when given with coconut (especially its virgin oil) and virgin oregano oil (not the culinary stuff) this concoction of synergistic medicaments works like a magic potion and clears, even the worst symptoms of viral infection in around five hours. It is dosage dependent, meaning the more taken the quicker the cure. It is best not to use as a prophylaxis owing to the adaptive nature of viruses when a very high dose would be required to cure it. Take it whenever in contact or whenever the snuffles begin to appear. There are, of course, other equally interesting substances available but this one is my favourite. While previously always liable to the effect of influenza I have remained free of it for the past 14 years on this cocktail.

One is subjected to tons of conflicting info on many big issues--including the flu shot. This year I resolved to pass it up--based largely on advice in the Mercola-grams.

Then, I realized that I have taken it every year for at least ten years, never had a bad reaction, never had the flu, just a few colds.. The USAF apparently believes in it enough to require ALL active-duty personnel to take the shot. (Some will, of course, see big Pharma behind all this.)

So, anyhow,I took the shot a few days ago. At 85, I have more options than I need.

Am still trying to get answer on the question of whether one can get any substantial benefit from the winter sun coming thru a glass window, as for plant nurseries. Anybody know??.

We are given the choice to take the flu shot or not. Threatening to sue is down right stupid. I am a nurse at a hospital and they try very hard to get me to take the flu shot. I have knowledge that many don't have due to Dr. Mercola and other intellegent people. I will not take the flu shot. That is my choice.

The earth is flat and the sun revolves around us.

Flu shots are yet one more "conventional wisdom" debate that us realists cannot win.

Once something becomes conventional wisdom, there is no way that you can convince people to quit being sheep and become rational, logical thinkers.

Low fat, processed foods, chemotherapy, statins, flu shots, Tamiflu all recent additions to the conventional wisdom catagory.

And woe be any of us that dare to speak out against it. And, in Michigan at least, if I don't vaccinate my daughter and she contracts pneumonia and dies, I will very likely be prosecuted for murder. That is the way it works here.

Scary days are here folks and it takes lots of moxie and resolve to buck conventional wisdom.

Lucky for me, I've been ticking people off with my non-status quo mouth for years, so I'm used to it..

I live at the US / Canada border so I pick up the local US stations. I was appalled to hear a news report that some schools in the Niagara / Lake Erie region are informing parents that without a flu shot and other immunizations their children would be suspended from school. Talk about control! At what point then do parents get to choose the health methods they wish their children to be treated with while have them educated at the same time? Something is grossly wrong with this system.
