I don't think that Obama has a clue. I don't think 99% of the America people have clue. I've put several comments on change.gov and I was pretty much alone with my views. It doesn't do much good to have these websites, if the public and the politicians only have exposure to lobbyists, puppets for big pharma and commercials. And of course, these interests have enough money to get the politician palms greased. I've tried to bring a little diversity in the media, by commenting, and again, I'm usually alone. Our politicians believe that "preventative medicine" means paying for MANDATED mammograms, endoscopes, vaccines, lethal drugs, advertisements, and drugging our children. Getting $.10 for an egg, repairing your clothes, growing carrots doesn't do much, when we are MANDATED to pay for a wasteful, fraudulent, harmful medical system. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE change the way that we think of "medicine" - Make your opinion heard, while you can!

The little clip inside the clip of people having their own farmer's market, seems encouraging, but I worry that the New World Order men in power will outlaw such things. As it is in my county, we are required to register with the county to utilize that outlet. Look at NAIS, they are going to require veterinarians to register small livestock owners aginst their knowledge if we don't register voluntarily as it is. Face it, Obama's advosor's are Trilateralists, and they are at the top of this food mess.

Our coops are in danger even now (Manna house coop was raided this last month and the family running it was held at gunpoint by our government officals for 8 hours) If we do this, we must keep it quiet or we will run into the law.

Another example. I can't get pure lye for soapmaking in the store anymore. You have fill out special paperwork now, under the guise of security. Drano now has metals contaminating it, ruining your soap product.

If you live in a house with a yard, now especially with the economic mess we are in, wouldn't it be a good idea to start your own vegetable garden, like the Victory Gardens from many years ago. My mother always had a garden and she used to talk about the Victory Gardens but that was before my time. I know we are in the middle of winter right now but spring will be here very soon. If we want to change the system we have to start at the grass roots level, i'd forget about trying to change govn. I like Michael Pollen, but i think he is barking up the wrong tree. If growing a vegetable garden caught on, which it very well could in today's economic climate, then that would cause change.

If our President elect is true to his word, and he really wants to do something about the ills most prevailent in this nation then we must change not just nutrition education, but how we do food overall. Look at the facts behind GMOs, and the fact GMOs are useless for animal and human consumption. All of this is not going to change overnight but I for one do hope that a good start is made in the opening months of his administration.

as long as some idiot person,group of people , zealot,etc doesn't get to Obama and remove or politically stymie him, he is the best chance i see for america to have a chance to surive the coming disaster. Michael Pollan is another who could realistically be a "do-er" not a puppet. i am not as sure about Al Gore as i was..something about a mine on land he owns??? you will need to have something growing to eat when the fiat money becomes worthless, and they then offer the Amero, at a loss to you i bet! growing and cooking is the easy part! sewing and repairing clothing is something you may need to learn too. survival skills start at home, chickens provide eggs, meat, fertilizer and pest control, they utilize the garden waste, a complete system in a coop. read PERMACULTURE 1 and 2 for a good start, Bill Mollison and David Holmgren authors. As an outsider i watch and read from many sources, and what i see starting is so ugly and destructive, it truly horrifies me, wake up and wise up fast...please. Vote Lobby whatever, you need to help change happen, not sit back and watch and complain when it is too late. M Pollans comment re food terrorism? hmm Melamine anyone.

I see pretty well where the minus-points come from, but I don`t care as much as you may hope.But what really concerns me is that you both cannot or rather will not realize all these obvious mistakes having put us all in this mess.Don`t be egocentrics and think in constructive terms.When reality and ideas collide look att the former one.Reality is always more complex than any ism,you may call it liberalism,socialism,communism or whatever you like.

When this article came upp dec 5 I paid it a little attention,found it in agreement with my own beliefs,but regarded it as an inter-american topic and did not read more than the overview. But then when reading all your comments and by that had gone to the sources (New York Times and the Bill Moyers Journal) I realized how "big" this is to us all! Wow! Ubama and Pollan for Nobel prices in Peace and/or Medicin if they succeed. I´m sure Obama will make an effort,if it`s possible-he must-and he knows that. He is an intelligent person and he carries the worlds hope on his shoulders,maybe this hope is greater outside America than within (regarding the views 688resp.484 today-not impressing figures to me) Me and certainly most of the citizens in all western societies hope that he will survive and "make it" despite all threatened interests. But we are all worried.Historically now it`s a golden opportunity when nearly all has or nearly has crashed at the same time-health,economy and climate.Now all can and should be better.Sustainably.
