Cooked fish allows the body to absorb the mercury but raw fish is different. The Hg bond it tighter in raw fish so it is difficult to absorb the Hg in raw fish. My guess is that the source of the Hg in this case is amalgam fillings, antique furniture (had a case once!) cooked fish or amalgam lodged in gut. Consistent raw meat/fish eaters do not demonstrate such high levels. Look for amalgam under a crown/bridge.composite. We find amalgam in 50% of so called metal free patients

This is a very interesting article and shows how more and more we are being subjected to toxic chemicals and metals in the air we breathe, the food we eat, and the water we drink. We talk blithely of the contaminated tuna but fail to see the gravity of the problem. If eating tuna makes us ill, how does tuna the fish feel? Does it have blurred vision and other neurological problems? Can it swim proplerly? If the oceans are a couldron of mercury effluent how will this planet survive? Aabstaining from tuna will not set us free nor will it make the mercury evaporate into the void.

The most mercury is not received from vaccinations for children but from a can of Tuna . A vaccine contains the same mercury as a can of tuna. So 1000 cans equals 1000 vaccines ? Anyone dispute this ?

I was brought up in the era when amalgam fillings were the in-thing and I have a mouthful of them but my general health is good and probably excellent in relation to those of my contemporaries agewise. I also resided for many years in houses that had lead water pipes unaware of their potential harm and that too of mains water flouridation. At this advanced stage to life, and casting my thoughts back, I am unable to recognise any direct connection between those potential hazards and the ill-health from which I occasionally suffered. What I have discovered over the past 20 years since retirement is the profound impact of diet on health. Predominantly those illnesses of my past were due either to influenza, or to excessive imbibing of alcohol or smoking which I succeeded at surmounting by the time I reached my mid 40s. I discovered too the antidote for influenza. For a period of 18 years I was a vegetarian which culminated in having to have an emergency quadruple by-pass; that was 1990; since then my interest in dietetics has keep me illness free and in good fettle. The diet that I have followed closely for the past 15 years resembles that of the low-carbohydrate type and hence my interest in it and my continuing good health and, may it be added, a healthy libido too. All that I can say about amalgams is that I still possess my own teeth.

I had 14x maximum levels of mercury 4 months after getting my fillings out and detoxed enough to get my hair growing again where it had fallen out. Since then, I tried DPMS & DMSA and Chlorella & Cilantro as recommended by this site. I would never recommend DMPS (or EDTA) as it messed up my kidneys. Cilantro and Chlorella work, but are slow and chlorella is unpleasant. I also tried Zeolite, fucoidan/seaweed, carnosine, green juices and a variety or other things. These are ok, but not profound.

The most profound, cheapest per result and easiest to use by far is calcium bentonite clay. The clay bathes and externally applied clay are amazing. Infrared lamps/sauna help amplify the effects too. Sean Uisce, liked your comment on the EU directives but how more myopic can those who were inspired by the cartel of German pharmaceutical companies to put into practice legislation to marginalise the pharmaceutical company's competition; did those involved fail to consider the impact of the USA's Prohibition problems and this cartel's support of Nazism? It sure sounds like another era of increased lawlessness just to add to the world problems that are already looming on the horizon. Why do we fail to learn from history?

I've had 12 mercury fillings since I was 15 years old and over the past 7 years removed 6 of those teeth that were rotten. Now I feel better than ever with just 6 left. It does help to remove them totally especially if they are bad. I've been exercising like crazy since I was that age which probably helped burn off the bad side effects of the mercury. Even today at 47, I'm still working out every day.

I eat tuna fish quite often and quite frankly, I've very content. Is it possible that mercury doesn't effect people who are used to it? It seems to hold true for me.

thanks for the article and your comments. I have many mercury fillings and most of the symptoms you list for mercury poisoning. It's wonderful that you keep this site going and your articles, etc. and are on dialysis.

I used "Mercout" brand oral chelator from my doctor to rapidly decrease my mercury levels. I was using DMSA for close to 2 years which overwhelmed my liver. My mercury toxicity was due to a mouth full of silver fillings which I had replaced with acrylic back in 2005.

People ask me all the time "do you feel a difference from the heavy metal chelation therapy?" You bet! I can concetrate like never before. Wish I knew this during my college years :)

I suffered from mercury and heavy metal poisoning from the environment I grew up in. . .and am only now successfully eliminating it with zeolite drops that I use three times a day. This situation clearly requires awareness and self-managment. It's just a lot harder when it occurs as a child!
