Great advice on 'How to Buy a Car'. "The first thing you do is go to your bank and get a loan." Does this hippie boy know what's going on in this country these days??? Either he made the video in 2004 or he never saw Dr. Mercola's video on the long term effects of smoking crack.

BAD NEWS, folks. The battery hacks are all fakes.

I revisited this page to re-play a couple of these videos; they wouldn't launch. So I went directly to www.metacafe, and guess what I found: videos proving that the battery hacks are simply not as pictured and don't work. See for yourself. Here's one - you can search the site for the rest.

Fun tips. I have a MacBook Pro, and a Linksys router. The router allows me to sit in the backyard and look over the little Vernonia Lake and do my emailing and research and computer work, so I don't need the tin foil parabolas, but it's good to know for others.

Actually the 8 watch batteries from a AA battery video is mislabeled. The title says how to get them from a AA, but he video, calls for opening a 12 volt A23 battery.

I think I'll also pass on trying to get the button batteries out of the double A's. I watched the video once but couldn't get it to play again, and I tried opening an everready AA with a razor knife with the battery in a vice and got nowhere. Then I tried whacking it with a hammer and a chisel but still couldn't get it to split open. I then noticed this toxic mercury-looking silvery gel on my hands, the floor and my shirt. I scrubbed my hands and the floor with soap and a stiff bristle brush and threw the shirt in the wash. I think those everreadys are locked up a little too tightly for that to be a practical tip.

The flashlight video puts 9 volts from the three 3-volt batteries across a 6-volt lamp. That 50% overvoltage shortens lamp life to almost nothing. See the diagram here: help.tradingdepot.co.uk/.../gls-bulb.asp.

And where does he manage to find those three lithium batteries for only $4?

In reference to the one on $40 worth of batteries out of one AA, I'd say It'll cost more than $40 to cover the ER cost when you slice your hand open trying to cut open the AA battery with an X-acto knife.

Um... eh... video 5 about opening a beer bottle with paper... putting aside the possibility that he or someone else might have slipped a nail inside the paper while it was off camera just before popping the top... the technique is time consuming and also waste of paper.

Far more efficient in the long run to tie a bottle opener to a closed hook inside of a kitchen drawer or drinks cabinet. Or perhaps keeping one on your car keys. Far less time-consuming. And more ecologically sound too.

It's hard to break the habit of eating chips with all the less than healthy oils, and salt, but if you have to , transfer them to a glass jar to get them out of the aluminum foil inner package. Sun tea jars are good.

In fact I do this with any item thay comes inside a plastic package.
