Now in their 70's, they decided to start having "a glass or two of wine before bed". I knew exactly where this would lead, and four years later, they are right back where they were 30 years ago. They start at 1 p.m., drink all they can until they pass out at midnight, and get up to recover for a few hours. Then it's back to the bottle.

They rationalize it away by saying that this wine is lower in alcohol content and good for the heart. I try to tell them that 5 ounces per day for women and 8 ounces per day for men is what the AHAS says, but they don't want to hear it.

They have been told by my mom's heart doctor that this is good. Of course, the heart doctor has no idea that they are going through about 2 liters per day. And I must say that I place a lot of the blame on the doctor for suggesting to someone with alcoholism to drink "in moderation".

That said, I lean towards medium rare. Unfortunately, for fear it will damage the sashimi industry (big money as the stuff is expensive), the deaths from sashimi problems usually aren't reported in the news even though some happen every year... One couple I know/knew (the man past away a year and a bit ago) told me about a sushi chef they knew (in Japan) who was always very careful, but still wound up w/ a parasite that ate through his stomach and he died.

Break your habits people, listen to your instinct (or re-connect with it) and be proud to accept changes to your life especially the correct dietry choices. Burnt meat, alcohol, etc etc etc - People are more concerned about putting better fuel in their cars! and dont get all defensive of your current habits, just take time to consider change ! good luck.

I dont know why nobody talks about reservatrol in grapes. I am sure a person can consume not more than 2 glasses of wine per day. But I am sure he can eat a lot more red grapes. Why no consume concetrated grape juice.

What about red non-alcoholic wine.

It is very surprising that even Dr. mercola and other health advocates are not catching on to this.

Or maybe they just dont want kill the joy for everything. Here in my city there are two brands of wine which contain high amounts of alchohol, now everyone even girls and pregnant ladies are drinking wine, saying its good for health.

They can get the same amount of reservatrol from grapes too.

Why cant we just get a good bio-available supplement.

You know what is going to happen, especially in a country like India which is planning to ban alcohol. The wine industry is making inroads there and they have managed to "differentiate" wine into a different category from alcohol.

And now anyone can sell wine in a any shop(might seem normal in the US but In India you need a liquor permit which costs a lot to sell or serve alchohol)

Beer is trying hard to get a "non alchoholic" status. And then I am sure they are going to ban alcohol.

Then I am pretty sure you are going to get wine with added alcohol to make it appealing and everyone is going to drink it as it is not a taboo anymore.

All this is aimed at making everyone drunkards and capture the alchohol market permanently. Cause even the industry knows that hard liquor is damaging and sooner or later it is going to be stopped or people themselves will not choose to kill of their brain cells even if it is once a week.
