Getting back on track can be challenging -- unless you find ways to rebuild a strong desire to start exercising again. However, it is important to understand a good point from Brad Pilon (eatstopeat.com): we should use exercise to build muscle and nutrition to lose or gain weight. In other words, we should not exercise in order to lose weight, losing weight should be accomplished by eating LESS. There are various methods for how to eat less and each person should find the best way that suits best.

Part of the challenge was committing to exercise at least 3 times per week. The results after just two months have been amazing. Not only are people losing weight, but blood pressures are dropping like crazy. One gentleman, who continued having high blood pressure even after being on BP medication, has consistently been UNDER 120/75 for the last 2 weeks. In fact, I’ve convinced him to see his doctor about possibly getting off the meds.

Take away point: EXERCISE REGULARLY. Your body will thank you.

I was up to 45 mins on the eliptical and 15 mins of lifting with 8 lb hand weights for my stretch workout before my carido on the eliptical. I was sick for nearly a month. 2 weeks of really sick. I finally felt like I could work out Monday and I did. I lifted and then could only do 10 mins on the eliptical. I was really sick.. Then yesterday evening I was SORE. I never get sore, no matter how much I push it. My heart rate was normal through the work out, but It may have been 5 or so BPM higher then usual at top end. I tell you the flu can really kill your work out.. I am starting from scratch again. It is depressing. I need to get in good shape for Bike Week and I only have 3 or 4 weeks left now. We push our selves so hard on vacation that if I am not in shape I end up with shin splints.. That is usualy the only thing that gets sore on me. I have not figured out how to work those muscles at home very well. I guess I need to google it. I know that the shoes make a big difference in shin splints.. I learned that running shoes worn walking are very hard on your shins...

When young, one has heaps of it and seeks ways to expend it but, irrespective of Hannover's comment, it does not stay with us into old age. At 78 I avoid exercising yet I am fit and healthy and still have an interesting libido and most people consider me to be around 20 years younger. I have no difficulty gardening, doing domestic DIY jobs, running, which I occasionally enjoy, nor dancing when my wife and I can remain on the floor all evening but, regular exercising; never! I enjoy my life too much to squander it on physical exertion which can wear out the joints!

Nothing fancy needed. Good shoes, a mat, blocks and a blanket, plus an open road and a little indoor space. I am 6'1" (female) and weigh 135 (age 49). My blood pressure is low and heart rate normal, and when my doctor handed me the results of my most recent blood analysis, he said he wished his blood was so good. Did I mention I eat mostly whole and raw foods? I rarely miss a day of exercise, even in the most hectic of times. My inspiration: I feel good after I exercise. What better "excuse." In a bad mood? Exercise. Feeling lazy? Exercise. And don't forget to skip the processed food diet.

Make exercise a goal and keep a record, a written record of your goal to exercise. When you slip, write it down, same when you meet your goal. Schedule, schedule, schedule.
