Reminds me of something I read once about many obese people actually being "malnourished" because of the crap they eat. How in the world is this pill going to help??! Those who indulged in junk food will just eat less of it...and be just as starved for nutrition. :-/

sounds dangerous--like a horse eating too many apple peelings--then drinking water--it expands--bloats up--and can kill the horse, or cow ....what lengths to control our uncontrollable appetites!!!

And, I still think new comments should insert at the top so others can see what's new without scrolling all over the place, but replies to them should go to the bottom of each comment's replies so they make sense sequentially. Thanks.

And if anyone there actually reads these things, I for one don't like this arrangement into pages.

Like the running character count (since there's a limit, formerly with sudden post-entry cut-off); miss the spellcheck, however.

As long as this entry format can be altered & updated so easily, how about adding a basic toolbar with buttons for bold, italic, underline, text color & size, for examples. Sub- and super-script would be nice too. And bring back spell-check., please.

Corporate Insanity strikes again!

Does anyone remember "Mikey"? The kid who the slightly older kids pass some new cereal to for him to 'test-drive' it, because "he hates everyhting," and then "Miky LIKES it!" (so it must be good)? Well, the poor little actor who played little "Mikey" untentionlly killed himself not long afterward by swalloing a candy called "Pop-Rocks" -- basically, like a sort of sugar & Alka-Seltzer mix in small crystals -- washed down with soda. The "harmless" candy & soda expanded so violent;y in the child's stomach that it exploded his stomach -- no kidding, tore it right open! -- and apparently0he never made it to the ER alive (where they can usually save nearly anyone not DOA).

One thing is a no-brainer: It's just a matter of time before some media-brainwashed adult MORon does a Mikey with this stuff, confident that (per M5, of course) if some is good, MORe is better. After all, MORe Soilent Green processed junk Foodah was better, wasn't it...? ...And then, paraphrasing Caesar, "Let the lawsuits begin...!"

The idea is not new. Psyllium hulls would be a lot cheaper and do the same if you drink enough water after you had them. As Dr. Mercola said, EFT to solve the emotional cause of overeating would certainly be the better solution. The fat is a sort of body armour and the inner child gets afraid once that is lost. So it makes you eat alot again. Even after stomach surgery people learn to eat little bits at a time to get the weight back. But I am sure a lot of people will look for the quick fix and buy the pill. They migt even temporarily loose some weight.

I really like this site but I think Mercola oversimplifies the obesity epidemic. There is mountains of research on obesity and there are tons of factors. Yes, I am sure insulin is a very large part of it. However it can't be the whole explanation. Of course if this pill is bad for people I am against it. But a large part of the reason why so many people have such a hard time losing weight is that they get too hungry to stick with a diet even a diet like the one Dr. Mercola recommends. This may help. That is not such a bad thing.

This looks like exactly what a lot of people need to help them lose weight. Hunger is the enemy and sometimes cutting out grains, starches and sweets isn't enough to tame the appetite. This along with a switch to a healthy diet will make it that much easier to tame the beast of excessive hunger.

Has anyone heard of the herbal cactus HOODIA? It makes you feel full also. Typically one takes it before a meal, so that when they are eating, they eat LESS. Starvation diets NEVER work. This new pill seems to promote that type of diet.

Diet pills are no good for anyone - just a quick fix. As Dr. Mercola pointed out, there are much better ways of losing weight safely and effectively and it has to just basically do with lifestyle changes. No, it's not a quick fix, but it's definitely a lasting fix that will not bring about health problems.
