Going to the store to pick up some milk presents you with an endless array of options -- strawberry milk, skim milk , milk to go, cereal bars

re: What Have They Done to Milk?

Well I have to comment on this one, I agree on every statement but to put things into perspective 1st I am 49 yrs old I have never been sick ( injured yes ) but 3 times in my life twice with a bad flu from being to close to another student in high School, the other my wife caught a cold at work and during a stressful time for me I got it from her! I have drank a minimum of 2 -12 oz glasses of milk a day since I was born, I have only recently ( in the last 2 months started drinking Organic milk I otherwise eat all fresh from the farmers maket only free range and organic natural fed eggs and meat and poultry, but the Idea that my wife and I are any less healthy than those that drink raw milk or dont drink milk at all is rediculus.

I lift weights 6 days a week and run 3 miles a day every day ( alternating climbing a local mtn) I have been looking into changing to raw milk due to my wifes alergies only otherwise we are in peak shape ( my Dr says according to my last physical I am stronger and healthier than most 20 yr olds) so my comment is aimed at the last comment that said milk was so bad for us I dont see any correlation between a bunch of lab studies and real life! I think my family and hundreds of others are a better guide than your studies. By the way go to my website and see how young and fibrantly healthy I am at 49being almost a half century on this planet at www.cvrfitness.com I think that is the only proof or varification anyone needs.Good quality cows Milk does a body good!!

AS FOR GOATS MILK IS SUPPOSE TO BE BETTER FOR YOU. MY SISTER CANNOT FEED FORMULA TO HER BABIES. THEY ARE ALLERGIC TO IT. SHE NURSES BUT DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH. SO SHE PUTS HER NEWBORNS ON GOATS MILK TO SUPPLEMENT. AND IF YOU FIND GOATS MILK BUY IT FROM A DAIRY THAT HAS A MILKING POLAR. THAT'S THE BEST. OR MILK THE GOAT ON A BIG CHUNK OF ICE THAT IT'S ICE COLD RIGHT AWAY. MY CHILDREN DO NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE GOAT OR COWS MILK. WE ALSO USE RAW COWS MILK. STORE BOUGHT MILK AS TO MANY CHEMICALS AND OTHER STUFF IN THAT IS NOT GOOD FOR .THANKS

Someone suggested it may be dairy, even though I've been drinking milk with no apparent problems for over half a century. I stopped milk for a while a haven't had near the severity of stomach pains. I've been drinking Edenblend rice and soy for years also, but now that I've seen Dr. Mercola's article about soy, I'll stop that too. What about rice milk? It's becoming very ubiquitous in grocery stores and tastes fairly good.

See www.keepkidshealthy.com/.../whole_milk_vs_lowfat.html for example.

Whole milk is 50% fat by Calories...i.e. 9 gms in 160 Calories = (9g x 9Calories/g) / 160 = 81/160 x 100 %

2% is 4.7x9/125 x 100% = 42/125 x 100% = 34% fat by Calories.

As the fat Calories percent goes down, the protein Calories percent goes up, and so does the allergy rate, the juvenile diabetes rate and IGF-1 associated cancer rates.

I have no access to raw milk and have only tried it once in my life. It tasted ok , except that it was warm, so at the time, I wasn't crazy about it. I'm sure I would have felt differently if it was ice cold!
A Sunflower food store opened up by me last week and they sell non-homogenized milk in a half gallon bottle. It is pasturized, as they are not allowed to carry it if it is not. I bought a gallon (it was no more expensive than "organic" milk sold in a wax carton), and I loved it. You have to shake it up pretty good because the cream goes to the top. I normally use rice or almond milk, but this was such a treat to me. Other than the fact that it is pasturized, is there any advantage to drinking this over rice, almond or even commercial organic milk (which I don't buy anymore, but I do like) ?
Thanks for any replies!
