Breastfeeding Improves Glucose Tolerance And Cholesterol Levels

Yet another reason to have your child breast fed if at all possible. I believe it is a major tragedy that companies that sell formula actually discourage breast feeding. Every year it is estimated that this practice KILLS over 1.5 million babies. I find it a fascinating reassurance that even as an infant, if optimal guidelines for food are not followed the major negative metabolic consequence appears to be mediated through a disruption in insulin levels which caused the changes in glucose and cholesterol levels. Please review the other article in this week's newsletter on the importance of fish oil for developing optimal brain function for all babies.

I would encourage all women who are able to do so to try to breastfeed, as it is the single most important thing a mother can do for her baby.

If a woman is interested in breastfeeding but still needs to go back to work for whatever reason, it would be very beneficial if she investigated the possibility of pumping or expressing her milk. If you need breastfeeding supplies, such as breast pumps, you can try Nursing Mother Supplies, which carries a wide variety of products to help you successfully breastfeed.
