Breastfeeding Improves Glucose Tolerance And Cholesterol Levels

Yet another reason to have your child breast fed if at all possible. I believe it is a major tragedy that companies that sell formula actually discourage breast feeding. Every year it is estimated that this practice KILLS over 1.5 million babies. I find it a fascinating reassurance that even as an infant, if optimal guidelines for food are not followed the major negative metabolic consequence appears to be mediated through a disruption in insulin levels which caused the changes in glucose and cholesterol levels. I would encourage all women who are able to do so to try to breastfeed, as it is the single most important thing a mother can do for her baby.
